Eddie is still mourning the death of his father. He's been withdrawn from everyone. Thomas, Simon and Lisa want to help, but Eddie is not fully recovered. Mr. Deschesnes reaches out by offering Eddie a chance to help him fix a forty-year-old boat of his. This project is giving Eddie something to look forward to and the bond with Mr. Deschesnes is bringing him back out of his shell. He wants it to be just him and Mr. Deschesnes. But Eddie needs to know that Mr. Deschesnes is not his only true friend.

Summer is approaching and Thomas has big plans. He wants to buy a kayak for him and Simon to have fun on. But Thomas is looking forward to summer so much that he's not taking the end of school seriously enough. In math, he needs 90% on the final exam just to pass the course. If he fails, it means summer school. Uh-oh. But learning about the summer course and seeing Eddie's transformation gets Thomas thinking differently about the whole picture.
Episode 3
Sometimes growing old is tough. Mr. Deschesnes is turning 80. Mr. Hodge makes a harmless joke which Deschesnes takes to heart. As a result, he decides to run for mayor himself to prove he still has it. Nobody can take him seriously so he sulks in himself. Meanwhile, a social worker from Sherbrooke visits Mrs. Kaplan and persuades her that it's best if she moves to a retirement home there. She needs someone to look after her finances and appointments, and Sherbrooke is the only place with an opening. So Lisa, along with Thomas, Simon and Eddie, try to make Mr. Deschesnes feel fine about his age and prevent Mrs. Kaplan from moving.

Simon's passion for swimming is growing. His dream to be in the Olympics is rising. He is much more dedicated than ever. Mr. Hodge is impressed and lets him use a private chalet to train, and even grants him money for a national training camp. Simon is beyond thrilled the way things are going. Thomas, Lisa and Eddie support him one hundred percent. The only one that is not in full support is Simon's older brother, Andrew (played by Albert Rosos' real-life brother) who is home for the summer. Andrew has been covering Simon at their dad's store and breaking dates, so Andrew is fed-up. But nothing is stopping Simon from achieving his goal. After awhile, even Bucky begins to worry that Simon is overdoing it.

It's a tough time for Lisa being a girl with three boys as her best friends. When they stumble upon a cabin with Eddie's boat, the boys loudly wish a bunch of girls could join them. That really makes Lisa feel less womanly and more like "one of the guys." They talk their classmate Kelly-Anne into joining them in their remote seclusion. Her and Lisa talk about boys and how it is as an emerging young woman. The rest of everyone's time in the cabin is spent with fun and games such as reading love letters, truth or dare, lighting candles, and keeping Eddie's boat in their grasp.

Simon has always been the one friend of Thomas that Tracey has liked the most. Whenever Thomas is mean to her or she makes a fool of herself, Simon is always there to make her feel better. When she gets two tickets to dine at the Windsor House, she wants Simon to be her date. He is a bit reluctant, but agrees. Wanting to spend more time with him, she notices that he is secretly dating Lisa. So Tracey lies to them, claiming her class pest that has the hots for her his her boyfriend. Simon and Lisa's romance just happened out of the blue. Are they too far along in their relationship for things to go back to how they were before?

Alex's writing career is finally taking off. The Herald's Mr. Bernard takes a look at some of his drafts and happily prints them in the newspaper. This is going to be a regular thing. Alex's stories are fictitious takes on real people he knows in town. It was all meant to be in good faith. But everyone that he wrote about is very angry with him. Mr. Hodge dyes his hair blood-red, Thomas and Mr. Thompson make him sleep outside, Lisa and her friends chase him, but Alex didn't mean to cause any of this. He then tries to rectify everything.
Episode 8
Thomas has thought for awhile about starting his own greeting card business. With summer school finally coming to an end, he finally decides to take action. A company really liked some of his work and is willing to pretty much be his publicists. In the meantime, Thomas recruits his three best friends to help build his business. Work proves to be too much without any fun, causing Lisa and Eddie to back while Simon reluctantly stays. But that won't stop Thomas' persistence.

Eddie is happy that his cousin Sean Kelley will be staying with him for awhile. Sean's parents are rich movie stars from Los Angeles, so Sean himself is rich too. Sean is so used to big cities and lots of money, while Maplewood is a tiny town with only one traffic light. He brags about his wealth, complains about the Maplewood's size, and makes fun of people, which really get on the four friends' nerves. It is Eddie who is the most annoyed as he is the one who must deal with Sean. Eddie must learn how to deal with his vain cousin, while Sean must learn some humility.
Episode 10
Every year, Eddie's dad would take him on a hike to a remote area they called Fox Lake. It was his favourite time of year. But Eddie's father has been gone for about a year and Eddie initially doesn't want to go since he's now alone. Not breaking tradition, he decides to create new memories in his favourite space. So he rounds up Thomas, Lisa, Simon, and Kelly-Anne to share the journey with him. They don't like the length of the hike nor the strong remote aspect. But Eddie's own enthusiasm from his personal experiences successfully rub off onto his friends.

Thomas, Simon and Lisa want to go to Montreal. But their parents say they're too young to go alone. So they decide to find somewhere else for the three of them. On their way, they meet a runaway about their age named Danny. Danny is from Sherbrooke who wants to go all the way to Vancouver. The three friends try to get to know more about Danny too see exactly why he's heading there, and to talk him out of it.
Episode 12
Thomas and Simon visit Thomas's uncle George in another small town outside of Maplewood. As soon as they get there, they are struck at the beauty of a local blonde. Immediately, a rival is formed between the two best friends over who saw who first. George tells them that she's Thomas' old neighbour named Sylvia, which blows both boys away. She remembers them and wants to hang out. Thomas and Simon do all they can to win her, which puts their lifelong friendship in jeopardy.

Tracey likes soccer, but doesn't care about joining the team. When her annoying classmate, Dylan, informs her that Simon and Bucky are the new temporary fill-in coaches, she joins right away with Dylan her. So far everything is all fine, including Dylan's nosebleeds, which they think is one of those common kinds of bleeds. When Dylan passes out after a game following a bleed, she learns he has cancer in the blood that can be treated well with chemotherapy. He absolutely does not want any of that to happen with him. Tracey is worried for her friend and seeks the best way to tell him that he needs the treatment.
