At Adelaide University, a feather-weight crop of student politicians prepare to battle for control of the Student Union. On the one hand these Gen Yers are driven, self-confident and highly ambitious; on the other hand the student body that must elect them is apathetic and cynical. These polar Gen Y views come together in election week as student politicians try to convince, cajole and coerce fellow students into voting for them. "Electioneering" follows David Wilkins, leader of the right faction of Labor on campus. He's on a mission to change the world starting with the Adelaide University Union (AUU). With Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU) leading to a massive drop in union membership, the Union's coffers have been decimated and it won't be long before it's bankrupt. Some hard decisions will need to be made and David believes he's the guy to make them. David's main ally is Rhiannon, one of his best friends and leader of the left faction of Labor on campus. They have opposed each other bitterly in the past, but they believe they need to work together to save the union. Make no mistake, they might be friends, but their alliance is based on a calculated political decision. In this world, politics comes first. Using a mix of political cartoons, animations and candid interviews with student politicians and their prey - the average student - this episode of the "mY Generation" series looks at Generation Y from a unique perspective through the prism of politics. Nothing divides or polarizes as the big 'P', and this film goes behind the lines to see just how far our candidates will go to win power...
