Surprising well-informed, Crabtree explains the socialite context to Murdoch when they attend the grand reception where Toronto's 'mest eligible bachelor' Rodney Strong is expected to finally pick a bride from from suitable finalists, all jealously sharing the hotel for the event. On of those heiresses' corpse suddenly falls from the wrecked ceiling in a pool of blood, but was poisoned first. Prime suspect are the four surviving candidates, three local and Elisabeth, the just-arrived daughter of English Lady Suzanne Atherly, who pressures friend Julia to try in vain making Wiliam go easy on them. Crabtree meanwhile keeps an eye on fire-hazardous constable Henry, who clumsily joins him at the variety club where Crabtree's dancer-friend Nina welcomes her ex-con Samuel Bloom with a loan to start his own business. A second would be-bride is murdered while everyone wonders what Julia is hiding, actually still feeling haunted by a female ghost.

Great Balls of Fire: Part 2

As fire lays waste to much of central Toronto, William risks his life to bring Julia out after she helped most grateful lady Suzanne Atherly and her daughter Elizabeth out timely. While even the precinct is commandeered as temporary refugee accommodation, Murdoch anxiously awaits news from Scotland Yard about their antecedents and Rodney Strong hastily marries her. Another debutante is throat-slit and dumped on the streets before he gets news of Elizabeth's gardener-lover Travis whom Suzanne dismissed, who migrated before them. Inspector Brackenreid fears a serial killer and suggests Julia needs psychiatric help herself, finally admitting she wrestles with guilt over killing William's abductor Eva Pearce. Crabtree makes up with Nina and her brother Samuel Bloom, whose burnt-down garage is rebuilt with his savings, Hnery wildly overestimates his arson sin.

A Study in Pink

Murdoch's former fellow Young Scholar award-winner and friend Winifred Pink's fingerprints on the weapon and successive sets of lies make her the sole prime suspect in the presumed murder of an unidentified man who was dragged away bleeding, his son of five is missing. She claims to be duped by an anonymous client hiring her to deliver a letter, which proves blank, but William's superior IQ and inventions -notably a tracking bug and lie detector- plus Crabtree's research diligence and sharp observation gradually unveil the truth, a complex Montréal-based plot involving an undercover mob family, still a race to prevent escapes.

Concocting a Killer

The Murdoch couple's indignation that the court liberated convicted poison murderer Gus Shanley on account of a new method to prove Julia's lab test for thallium isn't reliable is increased by maverick detective Llewellyn Watts being assigned to reassess the case, with Cratbtree as able deputy. William sadly concludes a key witness an unreliable publicity-junkie while the murder weapon, a tea can, is stolen during a new lab experiment but found in trash and contested, while the morgue lab realizes another hole in their test. Gus manages to provoke Wlliam to a photographed brawl and regrets his son under the sway of wife Dorothy's second husband Samuel Ramsay, who is found murdered next. One survivor must be guilty if Gus isn't of both murders and evidence theft.

Jagged Little Pill

Murdoch, who dismisses 'unenthusiastic' potential contractors for his home project, and Ogden investigate the alleged poisoning of rich businessman Edward McInnes, who was found in his crashed sports car. He had a 'marriage of understanding' but stopped visiting his mistress months ago, as turns out probably aware of syphilis. JUlia's assistant Rebecca James refuses to let go of her suspicions that fellow gifted medical student Sarah Franklin's suicide by jump to drawn was staged. She and her less academic boyfriend Bernard Winston were involved in exam fraud with professor Lawrence Hempel, whose assistant she could become, working both on arsenic cures for sleeping disease viz. syphilis.

Bend It Like Brackenreid

While inspector Thmas Brackenreid, his more timid son John -whom he pushes to join practice- and Julia attend the football (soccer) match to decide whether FC Toronto University or its rival Galt (from Cambridge, also Ontario) may represent Canada at the impending 1904 St. Louis Summer Olympics, star player Robert Semple collapses, dead from an amateur-stitched stab wound. While Crabtree and miss Jmes search for the discarded knife, the detectives and Julia look into players from both teams, finding a web of rivalry and deceit, involving others, like girl finds, siblings and Galt's coach, Thomas's old friend Andrew 'Nobby' Nobson.

Painted Ladies

The first handsome male corpse found cyanide-poisoned with a specific shade of lipstick is ruled a mystery, but a pattern is acknowledges with more cases, where Crabtree spots swans keep appearing, Murdoch concentrates on the strange dating cards handed out by ladies, including George's burlesque dancer club lover Nina. Fashionasta shopkeeper Oscar Ducharme is nudged to help identify the poisoned orange lipstick customer.

Excitable Chap

Murdoch takes little interest in the sightings of the cloaked, masked 'Lurker', who keeps popping up in a nearby quarter and surprises implicitly flattered ladies including Crabtree's Nina's cabaret staff, while their men cry scandal, one fiance even demands a hanging. Thomas's return from St. Louis with the triumphant world champion team takes first seat, even William is sidetracked in favor of the inspector's travel and pub companion, rich inventor James Pendrick. Later the Lurker becomes prime suspect for the murder of a catering 'saucage king' without enemies and the robbery from Pendrick's new lab of his Panamanian wonder drug, which he had smuggled in by Brackenreid and proves key to a Jeckyll and Hyde twist.

The Devil Inside

While Brackenreid accompanies James Pendrick on his quest to Panama to retrieve his potion of youth, Murdoch is acting inspector in charge of Station House Four. He must deal with a knife-murderer, caught red-handed, who claims to be possessed by the spirit of Murdoch's diabolical nemesis James Gillies. Indeed the man apparently knows things only William and/or Julia, his other target, could know. The only logical conclusion is that the sadistic mastermind, who destroyed even his best friend at college, isn't dead after all. Hence he must be hunted down, for he has returned to Toronto for reasons unknown.

A Murdog Mystery

Only a call from the mayor can make acting inspector Murdoch take seriously the 'murder' cry from socialite widow Ruth Newsome whose dog, tipped to win the Toronto show, was poisoned, and her claim it must be the work of the main rival's owner, Beaumont Stoddard, who shortly after becomes the first human victim in a series of (near-)fatal stabbings and poisonings involving candidates. CRabtree isn't allowed to keep dogs, so a jailed suspect's prize bitch stays with William and delighted Julia, and proves herself a useful sleuth while sort of warming William's hart to the canine kind.

The Missing

Appearances may be deceiving. A grieving grandmother is seeking out her kidnapped grandson. A young man appears with clues and hints that make him appear to the missing child. Detective Murdoch investigates a missing vagrant as Miss James investigates the found bones of an orphan, thus the plot thickens.

Mr. Murdoch's Neighbourhood

Just before the contractor starts building Wlliam's dream house, he and Julia offer the land for a forensic exercise allowing his constables and her medical students, paired to practice finding and examine a donated corpse she buried, some bonding more personally. However repeatedly real corpses are found, which may be the work of a serial killer over several years. Murdoch and Crabtree concentrate, Detective Llewellyn Watts's missing women having been excluded, on the land's previous owners, a crime family which may not be jailed despite a sentence, and his suspiciously silent neighbors.

From Murdoch to Eternity

Crabtree can't believe it when Murdoch publicly auctions his 'additive' to a formula for eternal youth developed by the late inventor James Pendrick, showcasing a rejuvenated version of inspector Thomas Brackenreid. It's actually actor Quinton Prout, part of a ruse to lure Pendrick's killer, but he's chased off by uninformed Crabtree. The fake additive is stolen, while diplomats bidding for foreign governments are at the precinct as suspects of an attack on fake Thomas, who was already most uncomfortable given the wife's marital expectations. After his rocket landed in Borneo, secret agent Terrence Meyers is back, demanding the formula as 'god from the sky' for his 'adoptive' native tribe, while active agent Tanner demands the auction be scrapped as 'high treason' and the formula handed over to the Canadian government. Murdoch stands his ground and traps the thief/killer, but James still has a 'posthumous' surprise.

Hades Hath No Fury

Detective Llewellyn Watts finally gets a lead in his missing women cases, and even in his sister Clarissa's disappearance inspiring his career choice, when a female bomber dies from the early explosion of her home-made devise, intended to blow up a residence on the site of a former pub. She's identified by her Greek goddess-name-inscribed ring as part of an 'Amazon' commune of paranoid, abuse-traumatized feminists who claim to lead a better life without involving any men, on the state of late Hector Coleman. Detective Winifred 'Freddie' Pink goes undercover there and grows sympathetic, but when Murdoch and Llewellyn investigate properly, it turns out a cesspit of errors and crime, even with a plot to eliminate the 'male race', so it ends bitterly for all.

Shortly after Murdoch and Brackenreid discuss the dubious election to city council of fraudster Franklin Williams, the same concludes a dirty deal with wealthy developer Robert Graham. They are overheard by burlesque girl Lydia Hall, who goes missing without telling colleagues like NIna anything. After saying she 'heard something' to Murdoch, her corpse is dumped into his bed, while Julia is away attending a Chicago conference. Now William must go into hiding. Crabtree feels obliged to arrest Murdoch for his own sake, only to be knocked down as the detective escapes, a possibly futile attempt as reinstated Chief Constable Davis wants Murdoch's hide at any price. Loyalties come at high prices as even a hired sharpshooter is fielded and Julia abducted to blackmail William, who remains silent when captured.
