The abduction and murder of a popular Parsippany Hills High School student and cheerleader Amie Hoffman (1964 - 1982) shocks a tight-knit suburban town in New Jersey. A second, eerily similar murder of Deirdre O'Brien (1957 - 1982) just two weeks later terrifies the community, which now suspects they have a serial killer in their midst. In the end, James J. Koedatich is arrested and found guilty. He is serving two life sentences in prison.

When the Denver Broncos draft Texas high school football star Darrent Williams in 2005, he stays loyal to his hometown and begins his professional football career with the Broncos. On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2006, Williams flies five school friends to Denver, Colorado for a party. Soon after midnight, on January 1, 2007, a vehicle pulled up beside Williams' rented Hummer H2 limousine in downtown Denver. Williams and two other passengers were shot. Williams was killed during this drive-by shooting at approximately 2:10 AM. The two other passengers injured in the shooting were both released from the hospital the day after. Nobody knows who killed Williams, or why.

November 14, 2015, Scottsville, Kentucky: 7-year-old Gabriella "Gabbi" Doolin goes missing during the Patriot Bowl. It is not long before she is found near the school, a victim of a homicide. She had been with a group of girlfriends playing hide-and-go-seek when a pedophile predator, Timothy Madden, age 38, kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered her. He was arrested less than a week after the murder. Madden was linked to her murder through the hard work of the investigators and through his DNA. On August 24, 2019, he pleaded guilty to all charges. On October 23, 2019, he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In September 2008, Norman "Pooh" Griffith, an 18-year-old Pahokee High School football star, was fatally shot at a homecoming dance in Palm Beach County, Belle Glade, Florida, while he was with his best friend Dejay. Norman Griffith was airlifted to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. In the end, Carl Lee Booth Jr., age 17, was arrested in October. He later helped authorities in arresting Willie Felton, age 16, whose firing allegedly killed Pooh. All criminal charged were dropped against Felton, because authorities were unable to provide enough evidence against him. Carl Booth Jr., however, was convicted of 1st degree murder charges and was sentenced to life sentence without the possibility of parole. His sentence was later reduced to 25 years when the Federal government reduced sentences for minors who were sentenced to life in prison.

Coach Brioni Rutland, nicknamed Bree, is a beloved football coach at Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, Alabama. On November 26, 2013, he vanishes, baffling the police. Then, law enforcement officials learn that the missing coach ran a secret football betting ring among his friends, and a chain of clues leads cops to one of the gamblers who couldn't pay up. In the end, Jeremy Williams is arrested and convicted of Coach Rutland's murder in November 2015. Jeremy LaShun Williams was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 2028.

Arkansas City, Kansas: A popular teenage dancer and college freshman at Cowley College, Jodi Sanderholm, suddenly disappears on January 5, 2007 after dance practice. Law enforcement officials have very few leads until one of the dance team members, Jodi's best friend Lori, comes forward and reveals that a man stalked her in a blue Cadillac just days before her best friend's disappearance. In the end, homicide detectives arrest Justin Thurber, who has a long criminal record of being a "serial stalker" to many young women. In February 2009, he was convicted of the abduction, rape and murder of Jodi Sanderholm and sentenced to death. In this installment, Jodi's father, mother, sister, dance instructor and friend Lori speak about their anguish regarding Jodi's untimely death, and muse upon how wonderful a person Jodi had been.
