Episode 1
Call centre employee Jane Saunders becomes obsessive about her married boss Stephen Croft and devises a murderous plan to have him to herself. This involves having an affair with a co-worker whom she then kills, successfully framing Stephen's wife for the murder. However, her plan accomplished she comes to realise that there is a further obstacle to be overcome.
Episode 2
Addressing the camera dustman Barry explains how he found out his wife Angie was having an affair with her boss and brother-in-law Alex, and, having been robbed by a hoodie himself, killed Alex,making it look like a street mugging.Angie confesses to Barry about her relationship with Alex and, taking advantage of her guilt,he persuades her to give him an alibi. Unfortunately he becomes rather too cocky and tells her what happened, the narrative then switching to Angie.
Episode 3
Knife salesman Edward Buttimore kills another motorist in an outburst of road rage whilst in a country lane. His dominant mother dissuades him from confessing but, feeling guilty, he attends the man's funeral and befriends Samantha, the widow. They get very close and she confides in him she believes that her husband was leading a double life, but his association with her places him uncomfortably close to being detected.
Episode 4
Night-club singer Tara Stevensby wants rid of her husband Derek and prevails upon Mark White, an ex-con in Derek's employ to murder him. The murder is investigated by Superintendent Garrett who is Tara's real lover, not Mark, and who has colluded with her to use Mark as the fall guy. Will they get away with it?

Successful barrister Nicholas Chadwick is shot dead on the steps outside the court in 'Week 13' of a story that is told backwards and relates how he killed his mistress Angela when she wanted their affair to go public, framed a man called Stuart Jackson,and then defended him, the narration ending on the first murder.
Episode 6
A serial killer is on the lose. Due to his odd behaviour reclusive Colin is a prime suspect as far as his nervous tenant Lucy is concerned and her flat-mate Emily agrees with her. Emily devises a plan to trap Colin but,tragically for Lucy, things will not turn out as she had expected.
Episode 7
Haunted by a recurring dream in which he pursues a small boy through woods and then kills him, Stuart Wilsher gets no answers when he asks his mother to recall any childhood incidents that fit the bill. Then he sees in a newspaper archive that a boy,Timothy,went missing in 1967 and becomes convinced that he killed him,confessing to the police - though someone else has also admitted causing the death of Timothy.

In a prison visiting room Ken Grendle recounts how,when his farm supplies business hit a crisis,leaving him forty thousand pounds in the red, the bank were no help,giving him a week to sort out his affairs. So,aided by his assistant Christine,he kidnapped bank chairman Brian Balfour, chained him up in his cellar and threatened to kill him unless he helped. Unfortyunately Balfour has a weak heart...
