Wesley has a crush on the substitute teacher. When she meets Kevin, they start dating, which doesn't make Wesley happy, and despite Wesley telling how he feels, Kevin continues to date her.

Marsha's trying to find a job as a lawyer but hasn't had much luck until a guy offers her a job at his firm--but strings are attached.

Mr. Belvedere meets an insufferable girl at a fast-food restaurant and realizes that her family needs him just as much as the Owens family does. But soon, the Owens family begins to see less and less of Mr. Belvedere, and eventually an all-out war occurs between the families over who gets to keep him.

Wendy returns from college engaged to a guy she met there; the guy asks Kevin to be his best man. At her bridal shower, a drunken Wendy comes on to Kevin, making him wonder if she really wants to marry the guy.

Marsha is furious to return home to find her beloved "Home Sweet Home" ruined. She quickly accuses Wesley, who denies it, and everyone has a different account of what happened. Soon, evidence of what actually happened emerges.

It's Christmastime, but nobody in the family wants to do the usual things. Belvedere is not exactly joyful, so Wesley snoops and deduces that he has a long-lost love. He brings her over and everyone is shocked to see who she is.

Wesley needs someone to speak about being part of a historical moment. George told him he served during the Korean War so Wesley asks him to speak. But when he tells his class what George will talk about, one of the students outs George as a liar, saying he's too young to have served in Korea. Wesley goes home and confronts George, telling him that he doesn't trust him, and asks Belvedere to speak instead. George asks Belvedere how he can make things right with Wesley, and Belvedere tells him to be honest with him. Meanwhile, the family plans to take another family photo and Belvedere is upset that they don't want to include him.

Kevin falls for a model in his life-drawing class. Heather snitches on Wesley when he breaks the neighbor's window with a slingshot. As revenge, Wesley gaslights Heather into making her feel like she is going crazy. In the end, Heather and Mr. Belvedere convince Wesley that is is the one who is going crazy. This is the infamous episode in which Wesley gets that phone call: "The trees, the trees."

The TV station tells George to do an editorial. When his first one bombs, Belvedere suggests that he add some controversy, so George decides to suggest that the National Anthem be discontinued at baseball games. The station manager then instructs George to quit, but Marsha reminds him that he has a contract with the station. However, the station assigns George every demeaning assignment there is. When his replacement gets ill, the team asks that George fill in. When George appears on TV, he chooses not to apologize but states that he recalls a time when people at the ball games would stand up and look proud, which he feels that too few people do these days. After this, George gets his old job back.

Heather is outraged when Wesley and George read her diary and believe that she is involved in a steamy romance.

Angela and Heather are volunteering at a retirement home. They try to cheer up one of the residents but he's difficult, so they try everything until he tells them what he wants.

Heather and Angela give Mr. Sparks what he wants: to go to Atlantic City. They bring Wesley along. She calls Belvedere and tells him where they are and he freaks out. Afterwards, George and Marsha call to tell him they are going to Atlantic City. Kevin arrives and Belvedere asks him to take him to Atlantic City, but his car is broken so they hitch a ride with Robert Goulet. After Heather and her companions check in, they take Mr. Sparks out while Wesley wants to try his gambling system but because he is underage, he stays in the room. Belvedere and George and Marsha arrive at the same hotel but miss each other.

Mr. Belvedere accompanies Marsha to dance classes; Kevin becomes a dishwasher in a sorority.

Heather agrees to date a classmate who is committed to joining the priesthood.

Kevin decides to quit his part-time job and tries nursing as a career option; Wesley studies Mr. Belvedere's chores and challenges him to do more work.

When Kevin feels a lack of privacy at home, he moves into his own apartment with Mr. Belvedere as a roommate.

George and Heather train for a father-daughter competition. Kevin becomes obsessed with space aliens. Wesley is snubbed by his classmates after a practical joke goes too far, so he decides to grow up some. Then he realizes he has become too mature for his classmates' liking. Mr. Belvedere see more food and then eats more food.

Wesley's summer-camp experience is marred by a counselor who gains his trust, then betrays it with the manner in which he attempts to touch him. He is afraid to come forward with the truth until the man decides to take another one of the boys under his wing.
