6 Episodes 2009 - 2009
Episode 1
Because it is a flop in the viewer ratings, 'Echo Beach' is axed. However, much to the annoyance of Head of Drama Nancy, Jonathan discovers that a clause in his contract allows him to make a pilot episode for a further projected series. The accidental discovery of a dead man in the toilet inspires the theme for the new show - zombies taking over society.
Episode 2
Anxious to sell the zombies show to a Stateside audience Jonathan goes behind Nancy's back in hosting a group of American executives, passing himself off as Jewish and bringing much Americana on set. However when Nancy finds out she is not pleased and in the resultant row Jonathan accidentally injures one of the crew by throwing a brick which he had imagined to be a prop but was only too real. The American sale does not go ahead.
Episode 3
Believing himself to be best friends with the show's leading man Alan Dale Jonathan is mortified when it looks as if he is the only team member not invited to Alan's party and rows with him though it transpires that Nancy 'forgot' to give Jonathan his invitation. In an effort to make things up with Alan Jonathan dreams up a spectacular stunt to perform but when he again antagonizes Alan, who pulls, out he has to do it himself.
Episode 4
In order to introduce a more audience-grabbing story line Jonathan decides to bring in a supposedly hot shot writer called George, who is a transsexual awaiting an operation. The other writers feel threatened by a new contributor whilst Jonathan's far from tactful approach to George and his situation means that soon Jonathan will have no writers at all.
Episode 5
Somewhat the worse for drink Jonathan calls a press preview when there is nothing to preview so the staff work through the night, exposing many revelations such as Carl's broken home, Mel's grieving for her dead pet dog and Jonathan's cowardice.
Episode 6
The wrap party for the finished pilot of zombie drama 'Renaissance' has its ups and downs, the biggest 'down' being Nancy's decision to scrap the whole series. However the staff, led by the usually cowardly Jonathan, pull together and have the last laugh when, cheered on by Alan Dale and Kelly Brook, they illegally post it on the ITV website, thus ensuring maximum exposure.
