Episode 1

Der letzte Drink

48 mins

Detective Inspector Lars Englen falls victim to internal restructuring. From now on, he must work in the field with Finn Kiesewetter. The two immediately have a new case: 19-year-old Coco is found dead on the beach. She was heavily intoxicated. Finn and Lars suspect methanol poisoning, because the alcohol the young woman consumed was homemade. The girl belongs to an "experiential learning group" that has set up camp at a nearby campsite. But who had an interest in her death? First, the investigators question the social workers and the members of the group. The groundskeeper, who sells the homemade liquor, is also a suspect. Ben Hübner also has a motive: Coco's boyfriend had reason to be jealous, because an analysis of her cell phone revealed that there was someone else there. And: Who sent Coco the last text message, arranging a meeting with her at the jetty that night?

Tödliche Tiefe

47 mins

The hot-air balloon ride of the newlyweds Susanne and Malte Kröning leads not to happiness, but to death. For reasons unknown, the bride suddenly climbs out of the basket and crashes. Not exactly a case for the homicide squad. But the groom insists on an investigation, as he doesn't believe it was suicide. Malte and Finn Kiesewetter used to be good friends. And so the detective inspector is persuaded to investigate - against the wishes of his superior, for whom the matter is perfectly clear. Malte suspects his sister-in-law Bina. Finn questions her because she has a clear motive: She used to be in a relationship with the groom. He also visits a psychologist who was a friend of the deceased. Finn discovers that she is having an affair with Malte. At the same time, his colleagues find LSD in Bina's apartment, a drug that causes hallucinations, such as the delusion that one can fly. The case becomes increasingly opaque. When Bina attempts to take her own life in her cell at the detention center, it seems like a clear admission of guilt. But Finn doesn't believe this explanation. Perhaps he'll succeed in setting a trap for the murderer? Elke Rasmussen also knows Malte from earlier times and confesses to Finn that he "hit on" her back then. Jealousy immediately rises within him. And anger at the betrayal of trust-after all, he and Malte were once friends.

Goldfinger

48 mins

A dead woman is found in a paint factory. The macabre thing is that her entire body is sprayed with gold paint. It turns out that the victim is Alexandra Grimme, the factory's managing director. The extremely successful businesswoman hasn't only made friends with her management. So the question is, who could have an interest in getting rid of her? Was it perhaps her godfather Heiner Grimme, whom she summarily excluded from management? Or one of the workers who had to leave due to her rationalization measures? Also striking is a high rate of illness among the workforce, which can be traced back to working with dangerous and apparently carcinogenic substances. How should the mysterious clue with the gold paint be interpreted? Why didn't the security guard notice the murder? And what do the completely bleary-eyed company doctor and his terminally ill wife have to do with the case? Public prosecutor Elke Rasmussen is repeatedly transferred by her new partner when it comes to appointments such as checkups. Her colleagues observe this with concern. Finn's search for a new place to live is also occupying the team, and Ernst, in particular, has constructive suggestions.

Der Griff ins Leere

49 mins

After a night out at the pub with Lars Englen, during which they also drank a few glasses of red wine, Finn Kiesewetter witnesses a woman suddenly jump into the water at Burgtorhafen. It's a matter of honor that he immediately jumps after her. But Finn is unable to save the woman - she has suddenly disappeared without a trace. A short time later, a woman's body is found on the other bank. Finn blames himself severely. What's even worse: The media pounces on him, because the victim is Bettina Carlström, a wealthy millionaire heiress and patron of the city. The investigator's alcohol consumption is quickly investigated, and Finn is pilloried. This brings the internal investigation into the scene and - to Finn's horror - police psychologist Dr. Jutta Siebert. Bendix Carlström, the dead woman's husband, explains that his wife was severely depressed and tries in vain to comfort Finn. He doesn't believe in the suicide theory. He's bothered by several inconsistencies: The victim was wearing reading glasses when she jumped into the water. And according to her daughter, Anna Carlström, who also doesn't believe it was suicide, the woman hated water. So why this particular method of suicide? And how does one explain the fact that there is virtually no current at the spot where the woman jumped, yet her body was found on the other bank? Finn must not only solve the case, but also save his own honor.
