Episode 1
48 mins
A dead man on the cliff. Detectives Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck are called in and establish the identity of the deceased. He is pharmacist Rosenthal, who was spending his retirement in a small house not far from where he was found. An eyewitness testifies that he ran from the house to the cliff in a panic, appeared to be being followed, and likely fell to his death. The investigation into the family environment reveals that his children, Sina and Stefan Rosenthal, had a good relationship with their father. They grew up without their mother, who abandoned them in early childhood and never contacted them again. Even the questioning of Rosenthal's former employee, Renate Rick, who took over the pharmacy, doesn't yield much progress. Shortly before his death, Rosenthal had an argument with Rick, with whom he had been secretly involved for many years. There was also a serious fight with his son over a construction project. But neither of these factors is sufficient as a motive for murder. So who could have had a reason to push the victim off the cliff? Finn immediately fell in love with the dead man's small house, and Sandra, who was building her own house, encouraged him to rent it. Since he had reservations, she promptly broached the subject with the children who would inherit the property, and succeeded. Finn's great anticipation of finally having his own roof over his head again was mixed with the anxious question of how he would tell his aunts. Since Detective Inspector Englen and his wife took a "time out" from their marriage, he has been spending a lot of time at the station and contributing many new ideas. The most recent is a weekly "jour fixe" for all employees outside of office hours to compile and discuss everyone's investigation findings. Naturally, his team is ecstatic.

A little girl digs up a hand on the beach in Travemünde. It belongs to the body of Björn Aufderheide, who had spent the weekend with his bowling club at the Strandidylle Hotel. Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck learn that the victim wasn't particularly popular. However, various members of the bowling club had a vested interest in getting on his good side and thus had a motive to get rid of him. The Westerbeck couple, who were there with their hyperactive son Ole, seem to have secrets. Aufderheide, who owned quite a bit of land, designated them as his heirs. Why? Farmer and alcoholic Rüdiger Ziesemer, also a member of the bowling club, signed over his heavily indebted farm to Aufderheide in order to obtain a loan from him. Wouldn't he also have a reason to get rid of the unpleasant bowling buddy? Detective Inspector Englen has received a letter from his wife Stefanie. She has a new boyfriend. His nerves are frayed, and he's seeking closeness to his ex, Elke Rasmussen. Finn's aunts Ria and Toni have decided to close the tea shop and move apart. It's a good thing that Finn is now moving into the Fischerkate. Sandra is also currently dealing with a personal matter: She and her fiancé Holger are building a house. At the moment, she's very unhappy with the building authority because of this.

Episode 3

A corpse in pieces is keeping the Lübeck police busy. First, a seagull drops a finger into a tourist's beer glass, and then a dead woman with missing fingers is recovered from the banks of the Trave River. According to pathologist Strahl, the body had been lying in the water for at least two days. Initially, the dead woman's identity was difficult to determine. Her wedding ring finally puts investigators on the right track. She worked as a tour guide in Lübeck, is married to a carpenter, and has a 19-year-old son. Who had an interest in killing the woman? Perhaps the somewhat eccentric tour guide Lenker or her jealous husband, who, however, has a solid alibi? Things aren't going well at Finn Kiesewetter and Elke Rasmussen's house: Finn's ex-girlfriend Susanne from Uckermark has announced her visit. Unfortunately, Finn forgot to tell Elke. Elke then tries to make Finn jealous with her ex-husband Lars Englen. He immediately misunderstands this and hopes for a renewed rapprochement with her. To make matters worse, Aunt Ria is arrested for releasing 3,000 minks during a nighttime animal protection operation. Finn organizes a first meeting between his two aunts, who haven't spoken to each other since leaving the tea shop. His plan works, and they reconcile.

Episode 4

A distraught Dr. Alexander Henglooten reports to the police. He ran over Ute Schorn, his son Thorben's caregiver. He drove away in a panic, but then turned around to help the injured woman - only for the woman he had hit to suddenly disappear. A frantic search begins. The only witness is Henglooten's son, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome and has difficulty helping investigators. This requires a lot of imagination. The investigation reveals that the missing woman also worked as a prostitute. She was acutely worried that she would have to vacate her farm because of a construction project. Will the investigators find the victim, who lost a lot of blood at the scene of the accident, in time? Or is Ute Schorn already dead? While Elke Rasmussen is in the shower, Finn Kiesewetter answers her cell phone. He is confused by the message: The rings are ready. What does that mean? Colleague Schröter is excited because he's finally going to get his long-awaited allotment plot. The only thing he's missing is a letter of recommendation from his employer. He pesters all his colleagues with this until Ernst finally agrees to issue him one-with unforeseen consequences for Schröter.

The successful Lübeck architect Peter Zahr has been found murdered in one of his buildings under construction. In addition, the carpenter Herbert Priebe and his young partner Martens were also there at the time of the crime. Later, Priebe claims that he saw a black Mercedes driving away, a car similar to the one owned by the promoter, Norbert Sackberg. Later, when the alibis are verified, they discover that the developer and the architect were arguing heatedly in front of some witnesses the night before, while celebrating together with Councilor Flemming-Paulsen the awarding of this great project.

Episode 7

Orkun, an old acquaintance of Inspector Finn Kiesewetter, discovers the body of a man near an illegal dumping site in the forest. The dead man had apparently been pierced with the metal trunk of a plastic palm tree. The victim is Olaf Nickel, a former fitness trainer who, together with his partner Sonja Clasen, runs an online shop for plastic palm trees from China. When Finn and his colleague Sandra Schwartenbeck try to question Sonja Clasen, they initially only meet Dascha, an au pair. She tells the investigators that Sonja Clasen's ex-husband, Frank Clasen, was not on good terms with the deceased and had recently vandalized his Porsche, causing severe damage. Frank Clasen hadn't coped well with the separation from his wife and children. There had also been a dispute over the family dog, Genghis. There is no trace of either Frank Clasen or the dog. When the two investigators finally find Clasen, they are just able to avert a catastrophe. Meanwhile, colleague Schröter is investigating that wealthy Asians would pay a fortune for the missing dog. This clue, along with a small wood ant, leads the investigators to a new lead.

Episode 8

Kuno Denzer, the owner of a locksmith business in Lübeck, is found dead in his shop. The metalworker, who had a previous conviction for burglary, had recently won EUR21 million in the lottery. Investigators Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck found traces of a struggle in the shop, but no signs of a break-in. During their investigation into the deceased's environment, it emerged that his only living relative, his brother Karl Denzer, was heavily in debt due to his wife's illness and could use the money. During their questioning, the brother told the two police officers that Kuno Denzer was still involved in shady dealings and surrounded himself with dubious characters. Finn's supervisor, Lars Englen, and his colleague, Schroeter, also expressed similar suspicions about Kuno Denzer. They were simultaneously working on a series of burglaries in which, apart from the stolen items, there were no signs of a break-in. When investigators learn that Kuno Denzer withdrew EUR200,000 of his winnings in small bills from his bank shortly before his death, all the evidence points to a robbery-murder. But Finn has a feeling there's more to the whole thing. And his instincts rarely deceive him.

Episode 9
48 mins
During a secret rendezvous on the decommissioned cutter "Wilhelmina," a couple makes a gruesome discovery in a locker: the mummified body of a man with a glass eye. Finn Kiesewetter and his team determine that the dead man's name is Klaas Ehlers, who until two years ago worked in the accounting department of the Hansen shipping company, to which the old ship belongs. In the pathology department, Strahl determines that Ehlers has been dead for over a year. He was locked in the locker after a blow to the head and died of thirst. The sympathetic shipping company boss, Hansen, who has been wheelchair-bound since a serious accident and was abandoned by his wife shortly thereafter, seems to have no memory of his former employee. Hansen is worried about his mentally ill twelve-year-old daughter Klara, who hasn't spoken a word for two years. What role does Britta Ehlers, the victim's ex-wife, play, who left accountant Ehlers for the African woman Elizette Mukabi? Elizette's behavior is also strange: she never reported her partner missing. Who had a reason to kill Ehlers? The interrogations don't really get the investigators anywhere. While Lars Englen is convinced of Britta Ehlers's guilt, Finn continues to investigate in every direction. His persistence eventually leads him to the trail of the perpetrator. However, tensions are high between Finn and Elke Rasmussen. She accuses him of not really committing to their relationship and not wanting to move in with her. Finn, in turn, doesn't like Elke spending so much time with Lars Englen.

Episode 10

Pimp Torsten Schulze is found dead on the rack in the torture chamber of Lübeck's Holsten Gate. There is blood everywhere, but it doesn't belong to the victim. Further clues for the investigators include a chastity belt that had recently been used and a bullet lodged in the wall. Sandra Schwartenbeck discovers that only two people have a key to the room: the museum director, who has a watertight alibi, and caretaker Karl Jessen, who, like his 16-year-old daughter, has not been found. Since no signs of a break-in have been found at the Holsten Gate, caretaker Jessen is a prime suspect. Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck embark on an investigation into the scene. Their path leads them to the nightclub "Route 66," where they meet Kerstin Bramsche. The black-haired prostitute worked as a dominatrix for the murdered pimp. Will her testimony help the investigative team? And what role does the sinister Colombian who appeared in front of the nightclub play? Elke Rasmussen's move to Finn's is a done deal and the dominant topic among her colleagues. The moving boxes are already packed. But just before the movers arrive, the couple gets cold feet.

Episode 11
48 mins
Finn Kiesewetter and Elke Rasmussen are celebrating their first anniversary. But the fun doesn't last long, as a call from the police station interrupts them. Finn has to go to a farm; a young woman has been found dead in a field. She was killed with a heavy open-end wrench, the kind used to repair old farm machinery. Questioning of the deceased Anna Bruns's family reveals that she married the much older farmer Karl Bruns just a few weeks ago. They are an unusual couple and met through the television show "Farmer in Love." Farmer Bruns is deeply shaken. His mother, who doesn't speak kindly of her daughter-in-law during police questioning, still lives with him on the farm. But would she have even had the strength to murder the young woman? The investigation also focuses on Anton Mohr, the Bruns' friend and neighbor, who played Karl's rival on the television show and lost. Jealousy and envy are strong motives for murder. And apparently, there was another point of contention between the two friends: Due to the planning of a major road construction project, their land had suddenly increased in value. Anton was willing to sell, but Karl wasn't. And someone else had a strong interest in Anna: Before her marriage, she had worked as an intern at the small private broadcaster "Holstein TV." Her boss there, Maik Hunke, allegedly made her a lucrative offer for a new show, which she declined. But is that enough of a motive for murder?
Episode 12

In the middle of the night, Daniela Unger, the wife of chief surgeon Dr. Norbert Unger, collapses at the Lübeck University Hospital. The toxicologist's examination reveals that the woman was poisoned with a water-soluble alkaloid. Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck learn from a nurse that Daniela Unger attacked her colleague Kerstin Grube shortly before she lost consciousness. During her investigation, Sandra also notices anomalies in the hospital's roster: Kerstin Grube and Dr. Unger work together noticeably often. Are they having an affair? In the same trash can where Sandra found the crumpled roster, forensics finds a bottle of poisoned water. This bottle comes from the surgeon's office, as he is the only one who drinks this brand. Meanwhile, Elke Rasmussen discovers that an internal investigation is underway against Dr. Unger. He allegedly transplanted the donor liver, originally intended for Ute Niemann, into a private patient. Ute Niemann subsequently died, leaving behind her father, husband, and a young son.

Episode 13

A pizza delivery man was seriously injured when he tried to pass through an area cordoned off by the explosive ordnance disposal service and the bomb exploded anyway. The demolition expert responsible for the bomb discovery from the Second World War, Jan Schindler, claims to Finn and Lars that he had installed the barrier on the other side of the path. So someone would have to have misplaced it to provoke the explosion. Finn suspects that the "attack" was aimed at the weapons manufacturer and learns from him that only the family knew about his arrival that day.

Episode 14
48 mins
Excitement in the port of Lübeck: The crew of a firefighting vessel pulled a dead man from the water. It quickly becomes clear that the sailor hadn't died in an accident, but rather a case of murder: During his examination of the dead man and his equipment, pathologist Dr. Strahl discovered that a safety rope on the small boat had been tampered with. The identity of the dead man is quickly established. He is Benny Kerber, an Olympic hopeful and member of the local sailing club. During the investigation, it emerges that although Benny was shortlisted for the German Olympic team, he had to beat his teammate Tim Landscheid. This means that Tim Landscheid had the most obvious motive for killing Benny. The president of the sailing club, Dr. Mannheimer, confirms the athletic ambition of the two young men to the two investigators, Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck, but cannot imagine that Tim would be capable of such an act. When the investigative duo tries to find Tim, he tries to escape. Sandra, who is able to stop him, now clearly knows that only Tim could have committed the crime; after all, he had the opportunity and a motive. Dr. Mannheimer, whose daughter died a year ago on a sailing trip with Tim and Benny, is taking over his defense. Meanwhile, prosecutor Elke Rasmussen is complaining of dizziness and nausea. Finn, who had originally wanted to buy a motorcycle, is now considering a station wagon, given the circumstances that are likely to arise.

Episode 15
47 mins
Joachim Kählig, the owner of a beauty clinic, is found dead on the banks of the Trave River. The body was found very close to the Wipper Bridge, a site where torture took place in the Middle Ages. Based on the evidence, investigators Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck suspect that their victim was also tortured before drowning. Schröter discovers that Kählig has been sued several times by patients. One of these patients is Charlotte Weisse, who has been suffering from severe chemical burns since undergoing a cosmetic facial treatment. Despite this, she has been unsuccessful in her claims for compensation. In contrast to the cocaine-snorting Kählig, his business partner Dr. Kassen has a medical license. He performs all the surgeries at their shared beauty clinic. Public prosecutor Elke Rasmussen tips the two investigators off with a tip that Kählig secured a large portion of the clinic's profits for himself, while Dr. Kassen was fobbed off with a marginal share. At the police station, former drug-sniffing dog Smutje keeps the staff busy. Station chief Lars Englen is looking after the aging dog since his owner, retired Chief Inspector Erlenbroich, had to suddenly go to the hospital.

Episode 16
48 mins
Investigators Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck are called to the port of Lübeck. Fishermen have come across a dead clown in the harbor basin. Police divers find a rock with a rope attached at the crime scene. Pathologist Dr. Strahl confirms shortly afterwards that the victim, 19-year-old Mario Corelli, did not drown, but was previously bludgeoned to death with a rounded object. Albert Corelli, the dead man's father, tells Finn and his supervisor, Lars Englen, that his son had performed as a clown for him at several children's birthday parties. This would not be noticeable under the disguise, as he has almost the same stature. Finn suspects that the murderer wasn't targeting Mario, but rather his father. Albert Corelli conceals the fact that he and Enrico Bruni have been at odds for years. The restaurateur blames Albert Corelli for the death of his daughter Sophia. Mario was murdered on the very anniversary of the little girl's death. While searching for Enrico Bruni, Mr. Schroeter is knocked down from behind on his property. Bruni has disappeared without a trace - just like Albert Corelli. Meanwhile, during an interrogation of the Wernicke family, one of the families the clown has performed for, Finn notices the inappropriate behavior of their daughter Julia. The attractive teenager reacts overly aggressively to the investigators' questions.
