The Blue Moon agency has been on holidays and it is taking a while to settle down to normal business, especially with David still in holiday mode. David's father contacts David after a hiatus of a couple of years. The reason for the visit is that David Sr. is getting married and wants David Jr. to be the best man. When David Jr. sees the bride-to-be, he realises that he had a one night stand with her and so he goes all out to avoid meeting her.

In an argument, a man kills his wife and buries her in a forest. However, when he starts getting phone calls from her the next day, he tries to dig up her body only to find that it is missing. He then decides to employ Blue Moon Investigations to find her. Maddie and David find some inconsistencies in his story and he confesses what he did. Maddie doesn't want to stay on the case but David wants to continue to look for her.

Maddie receives a large bunch of roses and everybody wants to know who they're from, but she is not saying. She and David then have an argument about what a date should be all about. David decides to show her what a good date is by buying stolen tickets to a symphony concert from a scalper who had mugged a man for them. David plays up and they are escorted from the theatre. The next day, the FBI want to know what happened and they now find themselves involved in an assassination plot.

A woman approaches Blue Moon Investigations for help. For over two years, she had been corresponding by mail with an unknown admirer. When her husband gave her a six-month cruise as a present, her admirer was angry and wants her to leave her husband. The woman wants Maddie and David to find the admirer and ask him to stop. When they find him, they are in for a surprise. When the woman and her admirer are then found dead, it is up to Maddie and David to find out what happened.

All Creatures Great... and Not So Great

A Catholic priest is infatuated with a woman who comes to confession regularly. This week, the woman says she wants to commit suicide. She disappears before he can catch up with her so he decides to go to Blue Moon Investigations to ask them to find her. They manage to find her but are in a dilemma about whether to tell the priest as she is married. Shortly after they tell him, she apparently commits suicide. When Maddie proves that suicide was impossible, it is up to Maddie and David to find out what actually happened.

Big Man on Mulberry Street

David gets himself drunk and messes up a very important meeting. This infuriates Maddie believing David is irresponsible and doesn't seem to care. David then hears some bad news, his former brother-in-law has just died. Maddie is shocked that David was married, although it was only briefly. She becomes very curious as to what she looked like and later that night she has a dream with a song and dance routine about David and his wife. The next day she follows him to New York.

It's Christmas time and the pressure of work means that Blue Moon has to work and the staff are not happy. Maddie is also under pressure and says she regrets keeping the agency open. Her guardian angel approaches her and shows her how life would have been if she hadn't kept the agency open. The agency becomes the Hart Detective agency run by Jonathan and Jennifer Hart. The angel then shows her what all the other employees and David end up doing.

The Straight Poop

Other shows have done it when you flash back and discuss the show. Now "Moonlighting" after too long with no new episode - Rona Barrett, an 80's reporter goes in to get "The Straight Poop". Apparently Maddie and David have been fighting and not speaking to one another. As she talks with Maddie, David, Miss DiPesto, and Mr. Viola they flash back to previous episodes to show examples of their statements and in the end they kiss and make up.

When DiPesto finds out and the agency turns down a case, she decides to take it to prove her worth. The case is a haunted house that she is supposed to record the proof that it's haunted. Time alone in a haunted house with a thunder storm outside and she is ready to run. When she opens the door Viola is outside, together they find that the root of the problem is less para- and more normal.

Maddie wants to go out and pick up a man for a one night stand. David decides to follow her to a night club. In a mix up, he ends up following the wrong woman, who is also a beautiful blonde. When he finally meets her, he ends unconscious next to a dead body and arrested as a murder suspect.

Her father also approaches them saying that her boyfriend is only interested in his money. Later the man is killed when there's an explosion in his house and there's evidence implicating the boyfriend but he claims he didn't do it.
