Max and Steel are proud of their performance in simulation and doubt Forge's urging that Max must tap into his 'greatest power', as even Berto doubts if Makino is still preparing an invasion, as sky surveillance shows no intrusion. Only Kirby wraps up in aluminum all over, even as underwear. However a meteor shower serves as cover for four UltraLinks to be delivered to Dredd, who links three to creatures or machines to turn them into killers, unleashed on Copper Canyon. Max fights them well with Berto's latest weapon, an electric lash, but soon is occupied with the arrival of another alien in a super-fast spacecraft, called Ven-Ghan, who declares to be an enemy of Makino and all UltraLinks, except the 'rehabilitated' trio in his service, and refuses to spare Steel, who is clearly no match for him.

N-Tek proves no match for Makino's rapidly advancing force. Berto believes the information he's extracted from a captured Makino UltraLink may give them the upper hand, but that proves another Dredd ploy. Steel escapes, only to be captured by the rapid spacecraft of alien Ven-Ghan, who declares to be fighting both Makino and all UltraLinks to see them tried by the interplanetary Black Star Council. Max tries to reason for an alliance against Makino while shielding Steel.

Makino congratulates Dredd and Naught for preparing his impending invasion, but the ingrate tyrant deems their services no longer needed, ordering Elementor to dispose of the pair. Dredd, however, came prepared and manages to seek shelter in his new secret base. Max has dreams about his infancy before his father Jim's demise, which he realizes can only stem from Steel's dormant memories, so he and Steel decide to snoop into the crew's secret room. Using a mechanical spy wasp, Dredd overhears Forge instructing full alert during a three-minute server-shutdown for an N-Tek upgrade. Dredd broadcasts half the message, planning on Elementor's outside attack of the base as a perfect diversion for his plans inside. He sneaks in to instruct Extroyer on how to escape from his electrified cell, copy and send top-secret data from Forge's unlinked CO computer, and flee the base. As troops are fought off, Makino must admit an alliance with Dredd is mutually too advantageous to turn down. Meanwhile, Dredd and Naught start searching for the Turbo-Star, the ultimate weapon to match Makino's destructive power, even against TURBO force.

Max and Kirby are confident their makeshift rock duo can win Copper Canyon's annual Battle of the Bands (especially after Sydney proves herself a gifted guitarist and joins) until they see Butch's band and its cool effects. Max calls in Berto to provide special effects worthy of Max Steel, whose appearance he as good as promises to concert-goers. Alas, that Internet post allows Metal Elementor (Makino's newest villain - bonding Metallak, his MegaLink general, with a metallic statue of a Precolumbian god) to track down Max Steel. As Max Steel engages this new formidable adversary and his team, Dredd and Naught, fearing Makino down the road, concentrate on finding the TURBO Star for the sake of their own survival.

When adorable ducklings fixate on Max and Steel during an UltraLink chase, the latter gets obsessed with the desire for a pet. Fergus considering live pets impractical, but Berto promises Steel an alternative if he parts with the birds: a mechanical puppy, which he calls Furbo. Alas, it proves more bothersome than overprotective Steel can handle, and manages to replicate itself copiously. Extroyer, meanwhile, engages in a race against N-Tek to secure UltraLink DNA. He manages to steal analyzing equipment ordered for Berto's lab so he can utilize the alien DNA, and Max Steel must fight his stronger monster to get it back.

Mr. Naught discovers the first piece of the presumed lost TURBO Star near a secret underwater N-Tek base. Miles Dredd indirectly plants false intel about tachyon missile research to trick Metal Elementor's squad into attacking the base, creating a distraction. In the course of fighting and detecting Dredd's activity, Max (locked in Scuba Mode) separates from Steel and TJ (the A.I. aboard N-Tek's new, submersible TURBO Jet) to handle Metal Elementor's assault force while the others seek out Dredd and the TURBO Star fragment.

Episode 8

Feeling denied of property, respect and identity, Steel posts a humiliating video of superhero Max falling into a dumpster, uses Max' toothbrush for personal hygiene, and (pressing his advantage) forces Max to attend school in a lame superhero outfit. As the Black Star Council sends Ven-Ghan to arrest any and all renegade UltraLinks (suggestively Steel), MegaLink Metal Elementor assigns Ultimate Elementor the impossible task of capturing Max Steel within twenty-four hours. Failure will "prove" Ultimate Elementor's disloyalty and allow Metal Elementor to absorb him as punishment. Steel, once captured, swears he and Max are best friends, but his recent behavior only supports the accusation of him as a betrayer. With Max stuck in the superhero costume (harboring unidentified powers of its own), Ven-Ghan himself is captured and tortured for the release of Steel.

There's a new video game in town that stars Max and Steel. While Max ranks last out of four million players, Steel tops the ranking and is hellbent on entering an impeding tournament, but first he must admit that his addiction to it has gotten out of hand. Both, however, are ignorant that Toxzon devised the game with a console to track them down and exact revenge for the death of Fishy.

A TURBO Star fragment is located in an abandoned copper mine, so the race for this unique weapon is on between Max/Steel for Forge's team, Dredd/Naught for themselves, and Prism Link for Mega Elementor/Makino. Kirby and Kat are there as well for a school assignment, shooting video to disprove the legend of the 'Copper Squatch' monster. Max feels obliged to escort and protect his mates, but a deep earth monster actually lurks around as well.

It's spring-break, and with all quiet on the alien invasion front, Max takes Sydney and Kirby on a well-deserved holiday, with Berto, posing as a millionaire, giving them a jet lift to a remote, sunny, volcanic island. Alas, by using TURBO energy, Max attracts Mega Elementor's attention, so an attack is launched. Max can't reveal being Max Steel, but luckily his mates come to believe it's Berto. Armed with a new TURBO Mode, Max has it out with Metal Elementor inside a volcano.

Pretentious Hollywood director Jimmy 'JB' Blaze begins shooting a Max Steel versus Extroyer superhero movie in Copper Canyon. When the reckless production injures snooty lead John, Kirby gets his role. Max is happy to just be an inconspicuous extra, but Steel, dreaming of a movie career, pushes him to keep volunteering. At first it just means being JB's horribly exploited PA, but when the tyrant is injured, directorial duties fall to inexperienced Max. Meanwhile, the real Extroyer, finding Makino akin in evil but hostile towards him, plans to create his own army by using a rare scorpion's parthenogenesis. Espying Kirby as Max Steel, he attacks the film crew. Only the real Max Steel can save the town.

The N-Tek crew evacuated the base just in time, but UltraLinked Forge leads the Makino troops to capture the THI power generator, enabling Makino to open a wormhole, unleash a planetary scale invasion and absorb everyone. Ven-Ghan helps Max penetrate Makino's spaceship to rescue Steel, who next saves Ven-Ghan and thereby earns an off-record pardon. The finale is a fight for power and the wormhole.

Dredd learns that Makino, living through the power source explosion, approaches with another army. Possessing two parts of the TURBO Star (the only weapon that can vanquish Makino for sure), Dredd offers them to N-Tek if they can track down the last one. Forge forbids Max to go on the quest, but Steel, having decoded the final component's location and not under Ferrus' forbiddance, convinces Max to 'just follow' him. They find it in a polar base and retrieve it, only to find Forge and later Dredd waiting for him.
Episode 17
Class bully Butch and his jock cohorts sabotage Max and Kirby's science project volcano but also mess up their own. Dr. Thornhill reassigns Butch with Max, who finds the bonehead surprisingly human without evil peer pressure (dancing, and bothered by his mostly-absent mother). When Butch stands up against mates who demand him to abuse Max, three roving UltraLinks scare off the cohorts and possess Max's three mates. Only Ven-Ghan can help Max and Steel fight them off and liberate their human minds before the Makino war machine absorbs them.
Episode 18
Extroyer's jealousy of Max Steel's popularity culminates when the city unveils a steel statue of the superhero. Setting out to discredit his nemesis, Extroyer crashes the ceremony and manages to extract enough DNA from Max to give himself Max' appearance, and, as such, commits heinous crimes. Since Forge forbids Max to break either his cover or the law, Max meekly goes to jail for the impostor's felonies, but his most loyal fans champion his innocence.
Episode 19
A Halloween night trip to the museum brings Max and friends in contact with two UltraLinks linked to faulty grim reaper exhibits.
Episode 20
Eager to prove himself to Makino before the army invades, Metal Elementor tests and pushes UltraLinks to search and attack N-Tek, especially Max and 'traitor' Steel. Only timid, clever Torbolt surprisingly outclasses his rowdy colleagues and is hence granted praise and the nickname 'the Terrible'. Steel takes a beating but manages to appeal to the kindred spirit's noble doubts about the Makino cause until he too defects.

Because of Mega Elementor, Max and Steel end up in each other's bodies.
Episode 22
With Makino getting stronger as he approaches closer to Earth, Forge pushes forward with the construction of a space station designed to defend the planet. However, when the station is jeopardized by a dangerous computer virus, Max Steel must find a way to save it before it crashes to Earth with everyone on board, including Max's mother. Unfortunately, the only one who knows how to clear the virus: is Toxzon.
Episode 23
The Black Star Council, aware of Ven-Ghan's betrayal in taking Steel off their wanted list, puts his own name on top. His former mentor, Ragnok, now hunts his protégé, mounted on a mechanical iguana. Max Steel tries to protect Ven-Ghan, but Ragnok thus captures Steel by accident, so Max must try a rescue without TURBO modes before he's gone by spaceship. Steel manages to free them and cause a crash. Max joins them in the canyon zone.
Episode 24
With Makino approaching fast, Dredd is hell-bent on fielding the TURBO Star, but it fails to load for lack of sufficient TURBO energy, so he races to catch and drain Max Steel. Although Forge explicitly forbids it again, Max and Steel refuse to just trust his Daedalus platform and decide to try seizing the star from Dredd. Ignoring its hiding place, they release and follow Jason Naught, who indeed leads them to Dredd's secret underwater base. Thanks to Berto's new holographic clone gimmick, they manage to steal the star. Dredd swears revenge by launching his Doomsday rockets on Copper Canyon, which N-Tek desperately tries to prevent, while a tractor beam even drags in Max Steel.
Episode 25
It's exam time, but Max protests it as a waste of time now that Makino's army may be about to wipe humanity from the planet. When the alien army invades Copper Canyon, the school is evacuated, but Butch, Kirby and Syd combine their search for safety with participation by stealing an abandoned N-Tek tank, which they find far from safe. Uncle Forge keeps supporting his sister's blind opposition to using the TURBO Star, putting all their hopes in the Deadalus platform, but Makino's spaceship soon takes that down. Max Steel saves it from a fatal crash, then takes the TURBO Star inside the spaceship, heading for the crucial power source, but finds it's TURBO too, with a startling key component.
Episode 26
Max and Steel are startled to find Max's father, Jim McGrath, as the enslaved TURBO power generator in Makino's ship. Attempting to free him, they get separated, and Makino manages to throw utterly weakened Max into deep space after turning the TURBO Star against him. In town, nothing can stop the Makino troops' advance, yet Kirby believes his soya butter sandwich somehow scares them off. Dredd manages to escape with Naught and Extroyer, and Ven-Ghan must leave to assist Max, whom he finds and retrieves, exhausting his own hyper-jump spacecraft. For the final duel, Max and Jim team up to the death.
