In each episode, host Martha Stewart (a household name in the US) combines a talk-show co-starring one or more celebrities (such as a Hollywood star, nevertheless introduced elaborately by her, as for viewers who wouldn't know the guest) with housekeeping tips, typically discussing the guest's home life and private background before they prepare (live) together and taste a dish bearing her culinary stamp. She doesn't hesitate to push brand household and associated products for the kitchen, home decoration etc while suggesting uses.

Martha introduces actor David Boreanaz by listing his major parts in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (although the character Angel also was the lead in a successful spin-off) and Bones as well as his motion picture Suffering Man's Charity. They discuss his familiarity with cooking in both his parental (Italo-Slowakian) and his own home. Then they cook oiled sardines, which David atypically refuses to pretend liking; allegedly Martha wasn't warned he doesn't like sardines at all. Second guest is All My Children (soap) star Walt Willey, with whom she cooks lemon soufflé while discussing his co-star-marriage, AIDS benefit theatre stand-up comedy project and mint growing on his Santa Fé desert farm.
