Both sisters, Mangal and Lakshmi, share the same fate of having husbands who don't love them. However, Lakshmi's husband, Kartik, is understanding and respects her, unlike Mangal's husband, Adit, who constantly belittles her for being uneducated and traditional. Mangal and Adit are separated after Adit's extramarital affair is exposed and Adit's mother throws him out of the house for betraying Mangal. In contrast, Kartik's mother envies Lakshmi's closeness to her son.
