A rival gang arrives in Worksop, led by the Australian Beast of Bolsover and his nephew the Nuisance of Nuneaton. They refuse to leave unless they are paid twenty five gold pieces or someone defeats the Beast in a fight. The merry men capture the sheriff, who is suffering from amnesia, and when John refuses the ransom, Marian persuades the sheriff that he is one of her gang and gets him to fight the Beast.When Rabies accidentally knocks Robin's wardrobe out of a tree it falls on the sheriff,who remembers who he is as a result and arrests the Beast and his mob.

King John develops a liking for eggs and so the sheriff steals him one laid by villager Gladys's hen, the first it has laid in years but it gets broken when the merry men try to snatch it back from the sheriff. Marian learns the local legend of the Worksop Egg Fairy,who sends eggs - or bottom-warmers - after she has finished dancing though the villagers must not feed the hens lest they be turned into egg people. Robin gets the locals to play music to get the fairy dancing but the Sheriff and his guards,Graeme and Gary, turn up,disguised as monks with eggs obtained from Lincoln for the king hidden under their robes. In the fracas that follows all the eggs are broken but Marian persuades the villagers to feed their hens and an egg is laid!

The sheriff arrests Colin,Gladys's hen, for illegal parking and demands a fine of two hundred gold pieces for his return. Marian decides that a charity tele-thon, Little Brown Nose Day, is the way to raise funds but no money is taken. Hearing that King John's infantile nephew,Guy of Gisburne, is to arrive at the castle, Little Ron impersonates him and persuades the sheriff to give him a large meal. When the real Guy turns up Little Ron legs it with Colin, returning to the failed tele-thon. However Guy is so impressed he offers to pledge the rent he should be giving to his uncle - two hundred gold pieces, meaning that the sheriff has lost both the money and Colin.

When Rabies is beaten in an arm-wrestling contest by Fergie, the strongest woman in Worksop, he immediately falls in love with her - unaware that King John, irritated by Guy and anxious to get rid of him, plans to marry him to the first wealthy woman he can find - who also happens to be Fergie. The wedding goes ahead between Fergie and Guy but Marian and her gang interrupt it and reunite Rabies with his Fergie. However Rabies is now beginning to go off her,turning his attention instead to the stern lady roofer, Margaret the Thatcher.

Marian is unsettled to see her sneaky ex-schoolmate 'Rotten' Rose Scargill cosying up to Robin and tells Rose the reality of their situation as outlaws. Rose then betrays both Marian and Robin to the sheriff and they are caught and imprisoned. From the window of the torture chamber Robin sees Marian appearing to be friendly with Guy. In fact Guy has a crush on her and is trying to force himself on her but Robin misunderstands the situation and believes Marian has betrayed him.

Due to be executed with Marian, Robin realises that she did not betray him when Rose reveals that she wants his body stuffed for her Robin Hood Museum. Fortunately the other merry men attack, under cover of the rubbish bins, and save Robin and Marian, who leaves Rose to the tender mercies of the lecherous Guy, tied up in the torture chamber. Robin is ashamed for what happened but Marian persuades him to stay with the merry men.
