Questioning local newspaper employee Sylvia Lang and sheriff Cliff Howels helps mac work out what really happened, besides moonshine distillation, and who is involved.

Mac is forced to call a marker on Jack Dalton, learning Pete has been taken prisoner by the rebels in Barraca, trying to liberate his missionary nun friend sister Clara. Before flying them there, Jack bought rockets from his lonely island garrison clients. Posing as an arms dealer, Mac liberate both hostages, but the plane is so badly damaged it must crash-land, not even over the mountains, so they can't call by radio to warn the president, who scheduled peace negotiations, Clara overheard a plot to kill him by planted bomb. However Mac got through, with delay, making the rebel camp commander Santina doubts if the predecessor she was ordered to execute really was a traitor to the revolutionary cause, or rather in the way of the rebel leader Rafael's boundless ambition, which is proven after his arrival to lead the manhunt at any cost.

Collision Course

Mac and Pete are helping a friend of Mac's, a race car driver develop a new engine he designed. They intend to give it the ultimate test at a stock car race. But another manufacturer, whom Mac's friend once worked for, is also there to showcase his new car which he needs to win because he's in financial trouble. And his driver is a man Mac knows from his days when he raced in Europe and not fondly. The manufacturer wanting to make sure he wins, coerces the mechanic to make sure. But in the end Mac's friend is injured and can't drive in the race. Mac learns what happened and searches for the mechanic but he vanishes after meeting with the manufacturer and his driver. Mac gets the race official to let his friend enter another car and driver in his place. And his friend wants Mac to do it but Mac is still haunted by his experience in Europe with the driver. So they decide to let another guy drive while Mac builds a new car. Eventually Pete finds out the mechanic's secret and finds out what may have happened to him when he turns up dead. But when the driver doesn't show up, Mac has to deal with his past and step up.

Jack's been getting a lot of things over the years which belong to his father who died when Jack was a baby from someone anonymous. And now he gets another. He suspects it's his mother whom he never met. With help from Pete, they find out that his mother is a fugitive. It seems like someone she worked for is into some shady stuff, and she got arrested when the Feds went after him. They go to the man who put up her bail when she was arrested. The man only cares about getting her so that he doesn't forfeit the bail. After Mac and Jack leave, the man sends his bounty hunter, Jesse Colton to get her. So he follows them. Eventually they find her. The man she worked for grabs Jack it seems she has evidence against him and Colton grabs her and Mac and takes them but she tells Mac they have to go back to stop her friend from turning the evidence over to the Feds, because when they get it, the man she worked for will have no reason to keep Jack alive.

Cleo Rocks

Penny Parker calls Mac with the happy news that she has been cast as the lead in a new musical "Cleo Rocks". She invites him to a rehearsal so that she can share her excitement with him. At the theater, she emerges from a sarcophagus suggestively dressed as Cleopatra. Just as the big production number is ending, there is a ball of sparks on a large electric sign with the show's name. As the support wire breaks, the sign swings down where it will hit Penny. Mac manages to dive at her and knock her out of the way. Mac is suspicious of the sign's cable failure. The next day, Penny gets a surprise delivery of flowers. But it is dead roses with a note that says, "To your Future". Following that, a menacing figure follows Penny down the hall until she can duck into the costume room. When Mac arrives, they find a note pinned to a fitting dummy with a knife and stage blood. Now she's really spooked. Perhaps the theater owner, Mr. Wintergreen, is behind it. He is vocal about his displeasure at how little an amateur in the starring role will help box office draw. But then, Mac notices that the first letter of each line on the costume dummy note spell out Murdoc. Clearly, he was not killed when he fell from the Windowmaker cliff. He has disguised himself as the musical's wheelchair-bound director. Murdoc manages to get Pete to come to the theater where he uses a voice disguise to draw Pete into a trap. He is placed in a cage above a deep pool with burning fountains of natural gas. Then Murdoc captures Penny and ties her up. He lures Mac into another trap with his voice mimicking, a room with a hydraulic floor. He has it set so that Mac opening the door will plunge Pete into the pool still inside the cage. Mac uses his trusty Swiss army knife and a shoestring to fish for the release cable. He manages to lift it off the actuation lever just as the room's floor is about to squish him into the ceiling. Penny manages to kick Murdoc's pistol away at the last minute from her binding ropes. Mac and Murdoc become entangled in a fight to the death. Mac finally achieves the upper hand and knock Murdoc into the pool. He sinks out of sight. When the pool is drained, there is no body.

Fraternity of Thieves

Mac is asked by Pete to follow a man whom he suspects of selling classified information. Mac loses the man who meets his contact, who wants the info but when he refuses to give it, he kills him. Mac finds the info and gives it to Pete who learns that it's from a project the foundation is working on for the DOD. The contact seeks out one of the man's associates who tells him that he needs to complete the task. It seems that he and the man met in school when the man formed a club and all the members are part of the operation and among them is Pete's son Michael whom they are asking to get what they need.

The Battle of Tommy Giordano

Tommy Giordano, the son of a friend of MacGyver is battling her ex husband for custody which she wins. The ex goes to his uncle a mobster who grabs Tommy and brings Tommy to his father. Mac asks Pete to check out the men who grabbed Tommy and they find out about the uncle so they go there but they left. From the Feds they learn the mobster is at war with another organization and is on the run. They learn he went to Canada and Tommy is with him. So Mac and his mother go there. They learn that men who were sent to get the mobster are there. Mac decides to follow them to see what they are planning.

The Challenge

Ray Collins, a former gang member who has decided to go straight, is framed for stealing a van that belongs to a printing firm. In truth, the print shop owner Larson, is a white supremacist who sets up Ray for a fall. Ray came in to apply for a "Help Wanted" position. Larson asks if he knows how to drive as that would be part of the job. Ray assures him he can, so Larson gives him the keys to his business van and tells him to drive it around the block to demonstrate his proficiency. As soon as Ray steps into the van, Larson runs out with two minions claiming he is trying to steal the van. A high-speed chase ensues with Ray seeking refuge at the Challenge Club, a non-profit that is trying to help troubled youths transition into useful positions in the community. Larson calls the police to have them arrest Ray and take him to jail. Ray can be released to a responsible adult for supervision which is where MacGyver comes in. He has been working with the Challenge Club and knows the owners/operators Booker Wilson and his wife Roxanne. Ray is released to him. Mac takes Ray to the city council meeting where funding for continuance of the club is on the line. Ray's description of how the club helped him go straight sways the voting to support the club. Larson, who testified against it, is furious. He has his henchmen cause an intentional rear-end collision with Booker's car. When Booker steps out of the car to see what the damages are, he is abducted and beaten. His car also has drugs planted in it to further cloud the issue. Mac is suspicious and manages to show that the drug packets were disguised to look as if they came from a gang known as The Demons. The Demons' have not been marketing that drug in a while. Ray and Mac get one of the Demons packets and show that it has a photocopied label that does not smear with solvent. The planted packets do. Larson had printed the labels in his shop so that they could make Booker look hypocritical.

Pete sends MacGyver with USAF pilot Turk West, general Barenov and Natalia Velskaja. The plane is sound found, the gold was hidden by the dying pilot, who even set booby traps for the team, where greed makes most expedition members hostages of worse.

The Invisible Killer

MacGyver is asked to lead a group of four Phoenix Foundation employees over Cascade Mountain as part of a stress relief program that has been initiated. None of the party knows any of the others as they come from different offices. Unknown to Mac, a prison bus crashes in the vicinity and a number of the inmates aboard escape. Two manage to separately infiltrate the party by overcoming their victims as they drove to the trailhead. Because there was literature in the cars of the two victims and each had a Phoenix Foundation ID card, the two escapees were able to pose as an expected participant. At the high point of the hike, the group encounter Ranger Liz, the firetower lookout, who greets them with a gun. She has heard via radio that there is an escapee probably in the group as one victim's body was found by a pair of children playing frisbee at the wilderness restroom the man had stopped at. Everyone holds up their ID badges. Everyone looks okay from a distance although thumbs obscure the photo on the face of the badge. Two of the group seem to know each other claiming that one worked on the budget bookkeeping for the other. Soon, however, things get serious. One of the hikers is found dead in his tent having ingested coffee that was made with the addition of poisonous holly berries. One of the party, Henry, returns to the fire tower to smash the radio and take Ranger Liz hostage. Tony is able to fix the radio a bit as Fred watches. MacGyver tracks Henry and uses a whistle that Liz carved to let her know he is nearby. He builds a small fire with a spring that throws smoke and sparks in Henry's face when he comes to check it out. Mac and Liz take him back to the tower and ask Fred to hold a gun on him while they go try to use the radio. It can receive but not transmit - the microphone has been cut off. Fred cuts Henry's bonds as they are both escapees. He says Tony won't be coming back. Fred goes up the tower to take care of Mac and Liz. Mac has fabricated a gun of sorts from the fire finder. Its discharge causes Fred to leap backwards and fall through the catwalk fence. He breaks his leg upon landing. Meanwhile, Mac rigs a trapdoor in the floor of the tower and helps Liz hide in the ceiling beams. When Henry comes up to finish them, he drops trough the floor with a rope around his torso.

Brainwashed

Mac and Jack are about to be honored by an African President they helped. Pete is handling the event. Mac learns that Jack was found wondering around and has no idea of what he's doing. Mac has him checked out and learns that he may have been brainwashed but what for and how to get him out of it, they need to find out. They don't know that the Vice President and his wife are the ones behind the whole thing. They want him to assassinate the President. And they try to make sure Mac doesn't interfere.

Easy Target

Pete and Mac were having a bad day. Their trip to the ski area led to an altercation between them an the area manager, who banned both of them from the mountain for the future. Then, they ran out of gas on the way home. As their bad luck continued, Mac walks into a rural service station/cafe just as a quartet of Black Dove Front terrorists have taken it over. They were after a secret weapon system, an electromagnetic pulse canon, that was scheduled to make a lunch stop there. The leader, Jonathan, covers up the group's plans by providing Mac with a gas can. But he makes arrangements to pick up both Mac and Pete before either can deduce what they are up to. The gang's goal is to free their leader by threatening to hit the city center with the pulse gun. The weapon system arrives under cover. The gang quickly shoot the driver and his assistant so they can confiscate canon. The gang uses the small amount of energy available to them from the electric lines to disable Mac in his Jeep as he drives by. Mac and Pete are locked into the basement of a cabin, wrists tied behind their backs, and a grenade with the pin pulled placed in each of their hands. If they drop them, they'll blow themselves up. Pete suggests they find something to replace the pins and Mac responds with the wire hanger from their ski lift passes. He then digs some C-4 out of the grenade housings and uses one of the detonators to blast the cellar doors open. Mac hot wires the gang's truck, which was left behind, so that he and Pete can pursue the truck. Mac figures out the truck's destination knowing that it will need a large voltage supply to arm the pulse gun. They try to interfere with charging the gun's capacitor but are overcome in the process. They follow the truck to a point where it can be aimed at the city center. Now Mac has to come up with a scheme to disable the gun.

Renegade

Someone steals a vial of anthrax from a Phoenix Foundation lab and MacGyver recognizes him as a Navy SEAL whom he worked with and saved his life. Mac is told that the vial he took is only meant to be use in the lab and if the seal is broken, it could be the start of a plague. Mac learns that the Navy washed him out after the mission he and Mac were on, because they tried to make him come back too soon. He later calls his former C.O., the man who washed him out and tells him to come to his house which he booby trapped. Mac goes with him.
