Season 1 Episode Guide

Season 1

3 Episodes 2010 - 2010

Episode 1

Episode #1.1

Steve, his camera team and tracker dog Bruiser join a team of scientists dedicated to a gathering evidence to support a project to give the highly endangered Bengal tiger a chance of survival by creating a corridor along the Himalaya. It can only succeed if they prove the existence of a significant, healthy population of tigers in Bhutan. After promising excursion in the lowland, where they incur favorite prey sambar deer, leopards, a black one and the even rarer snow leopard, the helpful Buddhist locals put them on the trace of yak-hunting tigers.

Episode 2

Episode #1.2

Steve joins a kayaks and rafts expedition down the Himalayas to the base camp to observe tigers in the otherwise impregnable, utterly pristine forest. To the team's delight, it finds ample evidence of a surprisingly dense, healthily breeding population, fit as backbone of the whole corridor project. After an excursion to watch how relatively tiny Indian reservations are neither safe nor any help in the long run, contacts with Bhutan's Buddhist locals indicate they accept natural predation.

Episode 3

Episode #1.3

The team splits up to search the Himalayan highlands, where no tiger research was ever done. Steve explores a peak near the Tibetan border, locally known as the tiger mountain, and finds it utterly suitable for the majestic felines, yet meets only the equally rare snow leopard. The camera traps yield conclusive proof of an apparently rather dense, healthily procreating population, enough for a preliminary rapport for the Bhutanese government, which the PM receives in a pro-conservation spirit.
