In Welsh capital Cardiff, queer cross-dressing performer Gabriel and his less eccentric gay partner Andy decide to take the next step by applying to adopt. Jackie, the social worker in charge of vetting them, digs ever deeper for motivation and frustration, most painful for Gabriel'' conservative widower father, a now retired preacher, who even spanked him soundly just for wearing ma's clothes at home. Their express wish for a girl 'boys are trouble' is challenged, like all their intentions, at a meting with adoptable kids and aspiring parents. where little Jake mesmerizes them, Andy soon gets Gabtriel to re-consider the refusal on principle of a boy.
