Episode 2
This week features two stories of mothers and sons pulled apart: a man whose mother put him up for adoption through an advert in the local paper; and a woman who adopted two kids after giving up her own son.
Episode 3
Steve from Blackpool searches for his birth mother who gave him up for adoption when he was a baby. After her partner tragically died when she was only 17-years-old, she had no choice but to try and find a new family for her son, and put an advert in the local paper to try and find him the best possible parents. Meanwhile, Corine searches for the son she gave up for adoption when she was just 15-years-old, but fears he may not forgive her once he finds out she has since adopted two other children.
Episode 4
A woman searching for the father who promised that he would come back for her. And in Somerset, a woman searching for her twin sisters who vanished from her life when they were babies.
Episode 5
Two lives overshadowed by the past: a man searching for the brother given up after a wartime affair, and a woman longing to understand the reasons behind her adoption.
Episode 6
39-year-old Laura Aker who lives in Kirkcaldy, was raised by her Scottish mother and the man she believed to be her father. Laura's mum Susan revealed that Laura's real father was called Andrew Olum Ekpang. Andrew was from Nigeria and had met Susan in Scotland while training in the navy. Susan became pregnant, but before Laura was born Andrew had to return to Nigeria. Now, nearly 40 years after her father left, Laura is determined to find him. 71-year-old Linda Lewis lives in Weston-super-Mare. Linda grew up in Bristol, the eldest of five children. When she was five, her mum went into hospital and passed away during an operation, aged just 29. Widowed with three young children and twin babies aged five months, Linda's dad struggled to cope. Now she wants to find her twin sisters who he had to give up for adoption.
Episode 7
Ann Smith, a 53-year-old grandmother from Watford, is haunted by unanswered questions about her past. As a baby, Ann was adopted by George and Jean Smith, but despite growing up in a loving family, Ann was always aware that she was different, and began the search for her birth mother. Meanwhile, 73-year-old Derek Berg searches for his brother who was given up by his parents. His mother Freda had an affair with an Allied soldier, and like many other illegitimate wartime babies, Derek's long lost sibling was put up for adoption. Last in the series.
