During a store visit by Jo and Nick, they meet her, and Nick agrees to repair some damaged store shelves. Charlotte is observed flirting shamelessly, first by Jo's sisters and then Jo herself. Jo secretly observes Charlotte practically drooling over Nick and his sea tales. Then, she accidentally sees Charlotte kiss Nick during a visit in Jo's barn. With encouragement from her sisters, she finally musters the courage to allude to her affection for him, stating that she is still not ready for a romance. Meanwhile, Asia's father Samuel (Eugene Clark) tries to have a reunion with his estranged daughter but she rejects him. Jo tries to be an intermediary and invites him to dinner but he is a no-show. Father and daughter finally have their reunion but it ends in grief.
