Episode 1

Cal Lightman is pressed by his editor's attorney since he has not written a book that he had received cash in advance to write. He goes to his bank, since his account is blocked, and sees a man named Mike Salinger. He concludes that the man is planning a heist of the bank and asks to join his crew. He discloses his plan to Detective Sharon Wallowski, since Ben and the FBI are not part of his team anymore. When he meets Mike, he is with his partner Henry Miller and is forced to deliver the blueprints of the bank to the criminal. However, he does not give the password of the safe, and Miller reluctantly has to bring Cal with him. The bank is surrounded by cops and Cal offers Mike to leave the bank. However, the man has a personal agenda against the bank.

Cal is blocked to write his book, and decides to join Dr. Foster, who was hired by the organizer Candice McCallister, in the investigation whether the contestants of her pageant do not use drugs and are free of plastic surgery. When they arrive at the stage, the teenager Megan Cross accuses director Thomas Fletcher of abusing her in the teen lifestyle contest. Cal and Gillian investigate the case and realize that Megan's mother has a strange relationship with her daughter, that wants to hurt her.

The police hire The Lightman Group to help the investigation of the Internal Affair. The subjects are Detectives Farr and his partner Sharon Wallowski that are under investigation of I.A. Jenkins. Det. Far was video recorded brutally beating the 9-6 gang leader Prince John and Wallowski is supporting him. Dr. Foster, Cal and Wallowski bring Prince John to the office and Cal notes that Wallowski is hiding information. He asks Wallowski to take Prince John back to his street, but the gang leader is murdered when she drops off him. However, a call of the eyewitness Mrs. Phillips tells that Wallowski is the killer. When another gang member is murdered while Wallowski is arrested, Cal feels that Det. Farr and the gang member Suarez have a secret, and Wallowski certainly knows what it is.

Two police officers enter a basement of a museum and stumble upon the security guard that notes they are posing. There is a shootout and one criminal die and the other is wounded. The curator Sydney Carlton offends Torres and tells her that he hired The Lightman Group to avoid a rob in the museum and he hope that the shootout has nothing to do with the employees she investigated. Cal goes to the hospital to talk to the wounded criminal but has no answer. In the waiting room, Cal sees a beautiful woman afraid of an agitated man, and he sits next to her with small talking. She tells her name, Naomi Russell, to him and says that a co-worker is in the hospital. When the nurse says that the criminal died, the man leaves the hospital. Naomi invites Cal to drink a coffee and he learns that the man was her ex-boyfriend. Cal dates Naomi while investigating whether the attempt of heist was an inside job.

In a coal mine, the foreman Johnson is inspecting the tool room in a mine when he is locked inside. He does not pay attention to the high level of methane and uses a hammer to hit the door and creates a spark and subsequent explosion, killing five miners and himself. The executive Gil Wallace hires The Lightman Group to prove that it was an human error, and not the company error, since there is a report and they are sued. Cal attends the funeral of the dead miners and notes problems with the employees. Then he goes to the miner's bar, where there is a havoc when Wallace comes. Last, he decides to go inside the miner with the crew to find what has happened. Meanwhile, Dillon presses Gillian to help the FBI, and show a video of Cal playing poker with criminals. He threatens Cal with felony charges unless Dr. Foster helps him to find the location of the next game.

When Carol Ashland goes to the office of the cult-leader Jack Sttaford, she swallows several sleeping pills and call her daughter Danielle to say goodbye. Danielle hires The Lightman Group to rescue her mother from the Scientific Re-Patterning cult. Torres and Locker find that Carol's doctor released her from the hospital and Cal and Gillian visit Jack while he is practicing a speech. They meet Carol, who is completely brainwashed and does not want to leave Jack. They interview Danielle, who has a past with Jack and the cult, and find hidden secrets of his past life in Canada.

Emily is driving paying attention on her cellphone when she hits an old woman named Veronica on the street. She is confused, does not want to go to a hospital and asks Emily to drive her home. When they arrive, she says that it is the wrong address and Emily calls her father to help her. Soon Cal learns that Veronica has Alzheimer's Disease; believes a man called Charlie wants to kill her after killing her sister Rose; and believes Cal is her husband, Burt. The Lightman Group decides to help the woman, and soon they find the mess she did with the names and situations when she was not lucid. But when Cal learns that there are several deaths at her nursing home, he decides to investigate further the doctors and staff.

Kira is cooking in the restaurant of her father Jim Weaver with her "Uncle" Teddy, when two thieves ask for the money. One of them shoots Kira and kills her. Detective Sharon Wallowski asks Cal to help her in the investigation since her friend Jim is dying of cancer and she would like to let him go knowing who killed his beloved daughter. Cal visits Teddy and immediately suspects of Kira's estranged brothers Marcus and Rudy, who do not talk to each other. But the police arrest the criminals in the possession of the murder weapon. But Cal believes it was a hit, and not a heist only. But who ordered the assassination?

Cal Lightman arrives home and sees Emily with her friend Amanda Dobar in the kitchen. Emily tells Cal that Amanda is worried about her father Wayne, who has been interned in a mental institution for five years. Cal and Dr. Foster visit Wayne and Cal believes Dr. Mitch Grandon is drugging him since it is an expensive hospital, and his family is wealthy. Cal drinks a juice and learns that Wayne was about to jump off a bridge with his daughter Amanda when he was sent to the facility to be treated. Amanda lives with her Aunt Gina since the incident, and Cal and Gillian visit her to talk to the teenager. Cal eats a muffin and goes to the mental institution to break Wayne out. However, Dr. Grandon and a nurse try to stop him, but Cal punches the nurse on the nose. Visibly hallucinated, Cal is hold by Dr. Grandon for 48 hours in accordance with the law. Now Cal inspects the institution and comes up to a surprising conclusion.

Cal joins his last three women while interrogating him. When George dies in an explosion in his garage, the women and Noah are suspects and Detective Sharon Wallowski helps the team in the investigation.

Cal meets Ilene and her brother Kent Cark and investigate her history, and soon he learns that she has saved many people along her career, being the first on the scene. When Cal crosses a green light and is hit by another car, the truth about the accidents begins to be disclosed by The Lightman Group.

There is a press release and Colette lies, telling to the viewers that Kim was kidnapped. Cal feels that the woman is lying and decides to help the investigation. Soon he learns that the Bradley family is dysfunctional, with many secrets and betrayals, and Lane is not the biological father of Kim.

But for Cal, Zach is the killer and is using his skills to frame Kyle. However, Kyle is smart and has money to hire the best lawyers, and it is difficult to prove that he is guilty. But Cal is smarter that Zach.
