The Core of It

After a lecture in a bookstore for presenting a new released book, the deception expert Dr. Cal Lightman is signing books for the fans when a young woman called Trisha tells him that she had a vision of a murder, but the police do not believe her. He brings Trisha to The Lightman Group and soon he finds that she has multiple personalities: Sophie, the predominant; Trisha, the perfect one; Jessie, a slut; and RJ, who protects the other three. Now he needs to find whether she is a witness or a killer. Meanwhile, the president of the US has appointed his office to learn whether he can appoint Judge Simon to the Supreme Court, and he assigns Torres to verify since he is fascinated with the multiple personality case. However, the judge is uncomfortable with a twenty-four-year-old-woman analyzing him. When Torres finds that the judge had an affair with the daughter of a raped woman that he was judging, she has a bias and Lightman needs to interfere. Zoe tells Cal that she quit her job and will move to Chicago with Emily to open a law office of her own.

Meanwhile, Dr. Foster and Loker are hired by the IRS to investigate the religious leader Jamie Cowley and she learns that he is an abusive man. But this is not the objective of the IRS, and Dr. Foster takes an attitude.

Cal contacts the police Detective Molina that believes Marla is drug addicted and is having fun somewhere else and shows no interest to investigate her whereabouts. Cal believes that corrupt police officers and the cartel may be behind her disappearance. Meanwhile, Dr. Foster is in charge of investigating for the CDC how the blood is contaminated in D.C. hospitals since many patients died in blood transfusion. She is forced to team-up with Lightman's rival Jack Rader, a man that loves the spotlights and interviews on television to self-promotion.

Meanwhile, Torres is investigating the murder case of a woman, where her husband Eric Matheson is accused by the police of being the killer and he is on the run. She goes to the house of his sister to ask the whereabouts of Eric and does not lock her car. When she returns, she becomes hostage of Eric that was hidden on the back seat of her car. He wants Dr. Lightman to prove that he is innocent, and Cal proposes a deal to Eric: he should let Torres and his employee leave the building. In return, he would stay with Eric. He asks to not call the police and is locked with Eric, who keeps his gun pointed to Cal's head. Along the investigation, the truths about what happened to his beloved wife come, but Eric does not want to accept them.

But soon Cal learns that Terry lied to him and is involved in a serious problem. Further, he learns that the FBI is chasing Terry and the king pin McClellan. Meanwhile, Dr. Foster interviews the students and Principal Mr. Anders and the teacher Mr. Fitzgerald keep up the work with her team.

Soon he learns that Reynold had used drugs and killed a man while investigating Greene, and his direct liaison and boss Sheila Redatti was aware and cleared him through a signed document. But the document disappeared from the case and Greene is blackmailing Reynolds to dismiss the case. Now Cal goes undercover to investigate why the document is missing. Meanwhile, Loker and Torres investigate how the location of Mark was leaked.

He drove his tractor pulling a container where he claims there is a bomb to Washington D.C. and says that there is a detonator on his seat. If he leaves the tractor or dies, the bomb will blow up. Cal assigns Loker to take care of the children with Miss Angela and asks Torres, who is not in the office, to visit Harold's wife to know whether he is bluffing or not. After a long tension, Cal learns that Harold is only a puppet and someone else is the real mastermind of the terrorist act.

Loker and Torres sees a footage filmed by one of his students and seek out the truth to save his job.

On the present days, the former chief of Dr. Lightman will meet him at his office when his car explodes, hurting several people including Loker. The government accuses Jimmy Doyle, but he comes to Cal's office and tells that he was not the responsible for the blow-up. Further, he asks Dr. Lightman to find the killers of his wife and daughter. Cal is also interested in retrieve tapes of his sessions with Dr. Foster that someone robbed and is blackmailing him.

Now, Cal and Dr. Foster investigate who might have killed Marley and why.

Cal believes he had an affair with Michelle and her murder was a cover-up, but soon he concludes that Brooks is innocent. Then the staffer Trevor Addison becomes the next suspect since he shows a video of Michelle confessing to the hit-and-run of a homeless man. But when Trevor commits suicide, Cal discovers that there is a woman behind that and Clara might know who she is.

A man witnesses their argument. However, Raul has no money to pay the fare and when he returns to his car, he is shot and killed. The FBI is investigating Raul's death and Bernard Dillon is in charge of Ben and The Lightman Group. Soon Cal sees that he is in trouble, since he is involved in the illegal fights and has evidence that puts him at the crime scene. Marshall believes Orlando is the killer and has kidnapped and is torturing him. Meanwhile, Dr. Foster suspects that her boyfriend, Dr. Burns, may be a drug dealer.

In the office, Ben discloses that the woman is Michelle Russo, an undercover DEA agent and ex-partner of Dave. Cal meets Michelle and she tells him that Dave was abducted by the drug dealer Little Moon, who has assumed the position of his father Big Moon. He is trying to find who killed his father and he suspects that Dave did. Cal succeeds to contact Little Moon and offers his service to find who killed Big Moon, and Dr. Foster goes with him to meet the gangsters. Cal wants to manipulate Little Moon to save Dave using his unconventional methods.

Cal heads to the hotel with Emily and her boyfriend Rick and finds Julie dead on the floor of the room. Ben tells Cal that Julie was investigating corruption of the councilman Aslinger, a former cop who is disputing to be the Major of Baltimore. Hackman goes to Lightman's office and tells him that he was hired by Aslinger to kill a man named Cook, and he gave an envelope to Julie compromising Aslinger. However, two detectives arrive at the office and Hackman flees. Cal goes to the train station to meet Hackman that will deliver a copy of the envelope he gave to Julie, when he is shot by a hitman. Reynolds followed Cal and is also hit by the stranger. Now, Lightman and Foster will investigate Aslinger and Cook to learn what happened. Meanwhile, Cal has a discussion with Emily about boyfriends and virginity.
