Episode 1

He's employed by various public authorities in various investigations, doing more when the police etc. fail to go the extra mile. Today he finds out the truth about a murder involving high school-kids and/or - staff. And why Congressman Zeb Weil would rather resign under false accusations of having paid for sex than divulge his purpose in the bordello.

Episode 2

The gang split into two teams to tackle two cases. Cal and Torres investigate a charge of Rape at the army whilst Dr. Foster and Loker investigate a college basketball player accused of taking a bribe. The rape case is particularly challenging because a private is accusing her sergeant of the crime and their unit is due to deploy to Iraq in 72 hours. The other case is much more straight forward but the reasons behind the crime prove to be very complex.

The gang again split into two teams to tackle two more cases. A very sensitive case of a murdered teenager at a prestigious school involves Cal and Torres investigating a judge appointed by the President. In the other case Dr. Foster and Loker investigate a NASA test pilot who appeared to black out and ejected seconds before he crashed his top secret SCRAM jet into the ground.

Dr. Cal Lightman and his team are invited to attend the wedding of the son of the Korean ambassador, who has received death threats since he has the political aspiration to be the president of Korea. Out of the blue, the ambassador's son is wounded by a shot. Dr. Lightman and his team together with the secret service do not have much time to find the criminal since there are many VIP guests in the reception that are pressing to be released.

Dr. Lightman's office is hired to resolve two cases. Cal and Torres have to find whether the gang-leader Manny Trillo may be released from prison or not. He claims that he has read many books in prison and becomes another man, capable to help to reduce crime in the city talking to other gangs. A board will analyze whether he may be freed on parole or not. Torres is skeptical with his change and Dr. Lightman has doubts. When the widow of his victim defends Manny, Cal and Torres question the woman's attitude. Meanwhile, Foster and Loker investigate whether a young black fireman died in a fire by accident or was killed by one of his fellow colleagues.

When the eleven-year-old Samantha Burch vanishes, her foster parents and the police believe she was abducted. Lightman and Foster are hired to investigate the case and they question whether she left home or was kidnapped. They interview her psychologist Dr. Christina Knowlton, but she cannot expose her patient and Detective Don Hughes, who is responsible for the case, believes in abduction. Meanwhile, Ria and Loker are hired by the publisher Diane Ktretschmer to find out whether the Ugandan activist Farida Mugisha has written the truth in her book about her life. Diane has been informed that there are many lies in her biography and a report will expose her when the books are released.

While driving a Jeep through the desert of Yemen, Robert Bradin, who is the brother of the driver Diane Bradin, shows a pack of marijuana to her and she immediately tells him to get rid of the bag. However, they are stopped by two military vehicles and arrested. Foster and Loker are hired by the US government to negotiate the release of the siblings in a short period since they will be executed for possession of drugs. Foster uses her knowledge and culture to negotiate with the Yeman representatives while she uncovers secrets about the relationship of Diane with the government. Meanwhile, Dr. Jeffrey Buchnan, who is one of Cal's best friends, arrives to his office to hire Cal to find who has stolen the formula of the Priox from the Laboratory Ribocore since there is a cheaper version in the market that is killing people causing strokes. Cal has no difficulty to find the spy, but the chemist discloses that the formula is identical and Priox is causing the stroke as side effect. Now Dr. Lightman questions whether his best friend is lying or not.

While driving his daughter Emily to school, there is a traffic jam and Dr. Lightman decides to find why. He learns from his acquaintance, the District Attorney Gail, that two Indian sisters have committed suicide from the same bridge within three days. He becomes obsessed and decides to investigate the reason for suiciding. Out of the blue, another Indian girl commits suicide on the subway, and he sees that the suicides are not coincidence. Meanwhile, Dr. Foster and Loker investigate a case of embezzlement of the money for pension plans committed by the millionaire Joseph Hollin. She finds that the man is innocent and his daughter Carolyn is the real thief and proposes a deal to him: he could assume the embezzlement provided he returned the money to the pensioners. In return, she would not accuse Carolyn. However, Loker disagrees with Foster's arrangements.

When a factory building collapses during the construction burying three workers alive, Dr. Lightman and Dr. Foster are hired to learn what happened. The company owner Kevin Warren, Mayor Meredith Fallon, and city engineer Mark Boulware tells them that they do not know what happened. Along the investigation, many secrets are disclosed and the truth about the accident is found with serious consequences. Meanwhile, Torres and Loker are contacted by a billionaire to investigate his fiancée Nadia Dawson since they will marry each other. He wants to know whether she loves him or his money. This type of investigation is not part of The Lightman's Group scope of work, but when Dr. Foster knows the offered amount, she authorizes Torres and Loker to carry on the investigation.

The Assistant U.S. Attorney Zoe Landau invites her ex-husband, Dr. Lightman, to help in the investigation of an arson case. The victim Frank Ambrose accuses the TV reporter Jack Garcia based on the statement of his son A.J. Cal investigates the Ambrose family and finds a case of infidelity of Cheryl Ambrose and Jack Garcia. However, when a second arson case happens, the line of investigation changes. Meanwhile Dr. Foster and Torres investigate with Detective Riley a murder case of the rapper Dante Edwards that might be related to the rapper Caden. The gangs are rival, and the lead suspect is Caden. However, Caden denies, and Torres sees regret on his face. His cousin tells them that Caden and Dante grew-up together. They also provide alibi to each other, but the investigation proceeds.

Episode 11

Dr. Lightman and Dr. Foster investigate a police shooting that may be tied up with terrorists. Lawyers come to interview the staff in a class action lawsuit involving investor fraud in an earlier case. Loker and Torres's friendship is tested. Dr. Lightman digs deeper into what's going on with Dr. Foster's husband.

Cal is assigned by the FBI to go undercover to prison to find who is the copycat of the prisoner Andrew Jenkins. He unsuccessfully tries to approach the serial-rapist, but his identity is disclosed. Jenkins, who raped and blinded his victims, has many fans and one of them might be his copycat. Dr. Lightman brings the criminal to his office, but Jenkins is a master liar and he has difficulties to find his deceptions. But they need to find the next victim Camille before she is wounded.

When a bomb explodes in a bus in Washington D.C., The Lightman Group is hired to investigate. The Al Qaeda assumes the terrorist attack and the student Jamal is the responsible. The FBI arrests his soccer coach, but Dr. Lightman concludes that the man is innocent. Then the frequenters of the Mosque that Jamal used to go are brought to be interrogated by Dr. Foster and Torres, and they find three suspects. Out of the blue, a bomb explodes in the mall and the responsible, Rasheed, was not identified by Torres that feels bad. Soon Dr. Lightman finds that Jamal and Rasheed are also victims, and not responsible for the explosions that have been remotely activated. Who might be the mastermind?
