As they now have a common enemy, Farouk the Shadow King , who is infecting all who come into his vicinity with a strange affliction causing people to stand still as a statue. With the creepy part that they all are chattering their teeth. David is excited on seeing Syd, who says he looks the same after a year. Will David be able to save Oliver and help destroy Farouk the Shadow King?

David now seeks Farouk, not to kill him but to persuade him to join him instead of battling each other, to join forces to beat this older more dangerous foe. As we find out, Farouk is not the origin of the disease causing people to chatter their teeth. A truce is formed, but Farouk has a dangerous request to make of David. Kerry now separated from Cary are two individual beings, Kerry learns simple tasks as eating and bodily waste disposal are new to her. Cary tries to help her along as she has separated from the bond Cary and Kerry shared with each other, where she never needed to eat or defalcate is learning simple bodily functions are new , strange and confusing to Kerry. They no longer merge as one for the time being
