Queen of Diamonds

Jess is playing poker in Laramie when it appears Jess loses a big hand to a professional gambler. However, another player realizes there was one too many kings in the deck. When the crooked dealer tries to draw, Jess wounds him. Back at the ranch Slim and Jess are trying to share the chores with Andy at school in St. Louis accompanied by Jonesy. The stage arrives with a beautiful woman, June Brown, on board who Slim is attracted to but Jess believes he has seen her before - perhaps at Carson City. Jess tells Slim she is no good. In Laramie, June applies for the job of dealer at the saloon having heard the previous dealer was shot. She is a quite good, perhaps too good, attraction for the saloon. Slim defends her resulting in him and Jess fighting with two drunk locals. Later, Jim Dark introduces himself to the saloon owner who recognizes him as past lawman. He knows June but they don't acknowledge each other. He is her husband with the Reeves outlaw gang after him. His gun hand was wounded but he killed one of the brothers. June wants him to leave but asks Slim to help Jim.

The Track of the Jackal

While getting a drink from a river, a man named Thatcher suddenly hears a man ride up behind him who says he wants a drink. Thatcher takes a seat on a log as the man, Luke Wiley, gets a drink himself. When done, Wiley announces to Thatcher that he is there to take Thatcher, a wanted man, in - any way he can. Back at the Sherman ranch Slim is leaving on the stage for business while Jess is sporting the sheriff's badge. He is filling in for the sheriff who is out of town. In Laramie Wiley stops by the sheriff's office to ask about the location of Vernon Bates wanted for murder in Rawlins. The name is unfamiliar to Jess but the description of the man and family point to his friend Sumner Campbell who has a ranch next to the Sherman ranch. Jess points him to the Campbell ranch but then goes to warn Campbell who is in town as Wiley has a reputation for bringing men in dead. Wiley finds only Campbell's wife and son there. Wiley tries to ambush Campbell but Campbell evades him. When Jess learns the facts of the case, he is torn on what to do.

Three Rode West

Slim Sherman is riding shotgun on $10,000 of stage line money he needs to deliver to the office in Rockland City. One hold up is foiled but a second attempt by the stage driver, Frank Skinner, in Rockland City results in the death of Jack Adams, well liked manager of the stage office, and the loss of the money. The posse is unable to track Skinner and the sheriff is suspicious of Slim, when he starts cozying up to Skinner's girl, Anne. Slim is using Anne to find Skinner and it doesn't set well with him, especially when Anne starts having feelings for him he can't return. But his gamble pays off when Skinner's brother shows up to take Anne to Mesa Verde and Frank. Slim follows but his hunt for Skinner could cost him his life when Frank uses Anne to lure Slim into an ambush.

Ride the Wild Wind

Outlaws rob the Laramie bank but one of them is shot and killed by the sheriff during the chase. The outlaw is riding a palomino horse with the Sherman Ranch brand so the sheriff returns the horse to Slim Sherman, hoping that Slim can identify the outlaw. Since the palomino, Cyclone, was stolen the year before Slim can't help. The arrival of Cyclone causes problems between Slim and his brother Andy when the high strung animal starts breaking fences and harassing the other Sherman horses. When Slim threatens to get rid of Cyclone, Andy takes Cyclone and runs away, only to find himself out of the frying pan and into the fire, first being injured in a windstorm and then getting rescued by the outlaws who robbed the bank. Boone Caudie sees Andy as a means of winning the widow Hannah's hand. His partners aren't happy with the arrangement and Andy's life is on the line when Pike and Dallas don't want him around when they rob the bank in Casper. Slim, who has been searching for Andy just might find him too late.

Ride into Darkness

Jess Harper comes to Danver's Pass looking for Dan Preston and immediately runs afoul of Matt Jessup and his gang. Jessup owns the town and Jess is asking too many questions about Dan Preston. Preston is a prospector who helped Jess out of jam once and he's contacted Jess needing his help. Everybody in town denies ever hearing of Preston but circumstances convince Jess that whoever isn't in Jessup's pocket, like the sheriff, is too scared to talk. What little help he gets is from Mae at the hotel and Chuck, the deputy sheriff. When Jess' stubborn search nearly gets him killed, it's Mae who comes to his aid and admits what she knows about Dan and his gold strike. Time is running out for Dan unless Jess, Mae and Chuck can rescue him from Jessup's clutches and they'll risk their lives doing it.

The Long Riders

Money is a little tight at Sherman Ranch and Relay Station which forces Slim Sherman and Jess Harper to become mustangers to make ends meet. While catching mustangs they save Luke Gregg's life and Slim ends up offering Luke a spot at the ranch. There's something about Gregg that doesn't set well with Jess, especially when Gregg brings up something in Slim's past, about his involvement with Ed McKeever and what happened at Adobe Wells. Slim and Andy's trust in Gregg is matched by Jess' mistrust and causes dissension between them. When Mort Cory is shot and wounded Jess believes it was Ed McKeever because Mort was with Slim during the Adobe Wells incident. Slim heads to town when the wounded Cory sends for him prompting Jess to stay behind to protect Andy and his suspicions are proved when McKeever and his men show up to set up an ambush for Slim. With Jess and Andy out of commission, Slim will be walking into a trap.

The Dark Trail

The stage line is expanding and needs horses but they are competing with the Army for stock. Mr. Creighton from the stage line says they will pay $100 per horse and a $20 premium if the horse is available by July 1. Slim Sherman and Jess Harper hope to capitalize on the premium the stage company is offering to make the payment on the ranch. Jess suggests they buy stock from Sam Bronson in Colorado to sell to the stage line as he is trying to sell horses and dislikes the Army. Jess, who cheats on the coin toss with Slim to decide who goes, gets more than he bargained for on the trip. When Jess arrives at Sam's ranch, he is fighting with Sandy Kayle who he fired. Jess breaks up the fight showing respect for both men. Sam Bronson's runaway daughter Celie, horse thieves and the two-timing murdering Romeo Sandy are what's in store for him as he tries to get the horses back to Laramie by the July 1st deadline to collect the bonus.

Slim leaves for Denver on business leaving Jess with the hired hand Ben. When Vern Clark arrives at Sherman Ranch and Relay station with his new wife, he finds that he's now the new marshal in Laramie since the Torrey brothers have just killed Marshal Blanton. Clark and Jess Harper mix about as well as oil and water and Jess refuses to be deputized by Clark until a neighbor is killed by the Torrey brothers. Jess rides into town to join the posse being formed by Clark. The posse finds themselves out-gunned by the Torrey gang and Clark breaks and runs after being grazed by a bullet. Believing himself a coward, Clark refuses to perform his duties, leaving Jess to try and organize the citizens of Laramie to defend themselves against the gang. Jess is banking on Clark realizing that he is not a coward and that he has a job to do no matter how scared he is.

License to Kill

Sam Jarrad is a bounty hunter turned sheriff of Willow, Colorado and Jess Harper has become a man with a price on his head for killing Blake Wilkie. Jarrad comes to Laramie with a warrant for Jess, an affidavit from a dead man and his eye on the bounty. Jess has no choice to but to go with Jarrad but Slim is hot on their trail after being deputized by the Laramie sheriff to see that Jess makes it to Willow alive. The Wilkies own Willow and Jess doesn't believe he'll get a fair trial, despite Slim's assurances, and effects an escape. Exhausted, Jess is easily recaptured, which puts him at odds with Slim. When word spreads that Jarrad has Jess in custody, it's fair game for others to collect the price on Jess' head. But the burning question is if neither Jess nor his dead partner killed Blake Wilkie, then the person who did is framing Jess for murder and doesn't want him making it to Willow alive.

Drifter's Gold

Slim Sherman arrives in Laramie to buy supplies and finds the town pretty much empty, due to rumors of a gold strike in Cherry Creek. Slim's arrival coincides with Tom Bedloe and his gang who started the rumor of the gold strike. With only a few women left in town, Bedloe has them locked in the jail for everyone's protection. Unable to get help and outnumbered, Slim has to play criminal in order stay alive and free. It's a desperate gamble since Tom Bedloe has another agenda, he's looking for the daughter he's never seen. He lived in Laramie before going to prison leaving a pregnant wife who died when his baby girl was born. Bedloe has all the 20-22 year old women brought to him to find his daughter. Complicating Slim's plan is Duke, Bedloe's right hand man, who distrusts Slim and his story. When his cover is blown it will cost Slim his life until Bedloe's daughter reveals herself to save him and her brother from her adoptive parents.

Fran Ericson, a woman from Slim Sherman's past, arrives in Laramie with one agenda, to ruin the stage company that ruined her father. It begins with a group of thugs roughing up Slim, Jess Harper and their friend Smudge at the relay station and follows with Kem Backer, a man who has an offer that Slim shouldn't refuse. Break his contract with Overland and become a relay station on a new stage line. Other station owners have signed but Slim stubbornly refuses to break his contract with Overland and finds out that Fran Ericson is one of the investors behind the new line. The violence escalates and Fran is faced with the consequences of her desire for revenge. Backer has too much to loose to back off now. There's going to be a showdown at Sherman Ranch and only one winner.

Duel at Parkison Town

When Ben Parkison's youngest son Flord is accidentally shot in the back and killed on Sherman land by his own rifle, it revives a years old feud between the Parkison's and the Sherman's. Ben thinking a Sherman must have shot his son confronts Slim at the Sherman ranch. When Slim won't let his other son, Lee, search his property for Flord's missing rifle, he challenges Slim to an old time duel which Slim ignores. Ben then pays to run a public ad in the local paper challenging Slim to a duel. However, the young rancher doesn't want to fight, despite pressure from Parkison and some of the citizens of Laramie. The pressure gets to Slim who barks at Andy who is bothered by the pressure. It isn't until Ben Parkison kidnaps Jess Harper and threatens to kill him that Slim risks his life to save Jess from hanging.

A Sound of Bells

It's Christmas at Sherman Ranch and Relay Station and the Sioux are on the warpath. A strange group of refugees have taken shelter at the station with Slim Sherman and Jess Harper; a bitter army widow, a lonely orphan boy, a gun-runner, a business man and his wife, a bandit and a gold filled strongbox. The bandit arrived wanting to wait for the stage but Slim recognizing who he is tries to send him on. However, the stage arrives with the Sioux chasing it. The shotgun is killed but the driver and passengers make it to the ranch house. The atmosphere is far from festive with Sioux braves surrounding the ranch trying to kill the occupants. The only thing that seems to draw this disparate group together is one small orphan boy. Despite the desperate odds against their survival, they manage to cobble together a Christmas for the boy and one will give his life so that the rest can survive.

The Passing of Kuba Smith

When he kills the sheriff chasing him he concocts a devious plan to switch identities with the dead man and lure a hapless stranger into thinking he killed Kuba Smith for the reward. Unfortunately the strangers he picks are Slim Sherman and Jess Harper who collect the reward, only to have it stolen from them by Kuba Smith himself. With the only clues the name on a watch and a location from ten years previous, Slim heads off to Prairie Lee to find Kuba's wife, only he finds Kuba's daughter Jane, instead. Kuba is hiding out with Jane and the chase turns into a battle of wits between Slim and Kuba but things are never what they seem.

Man from Kansas

Riding home with a deer he shot, Jess is attacked by three Sioux braves wanting the meat. Jess is having a hard time when the fight is spotted by a man on a hill above. He rides down firing at the braves causing them to run off. He introduces himself to Jess. He is Clay Jackson, a charming self-styled Robin Hood, who has come to Laramie to ply his trade; to rob from the rich and befriend the poor so that witnesses to his thieving ways are few. His presence creates friction between Slim Sherman and Jess Harper, with Jess beholden to Jackson for saving his life. When Jackson goes free after his trial for holding up the Laramie stage, events are set into motion to drive Jackson to steal again, only it costs the deputy sheriff his life. Slim is set to avenge the deputy, despite the fact that Jackson is the faster gun, which puts Jess between his best friend and the man who saved his life. Slim's determination to bring Clay Jackson to justice could cost both Jess and Slim their lives.

Killer Without Cause

Joe Cloud, a Native American, is murdered by Carl Vail while working for Slim Sherman. When Slim prefers charges of murder against Carl it pits the rancher against the town and the Vail family. To get justice for Joe, Slim wires Gen. Taylor Roberts for help. In the meantime Sherman ranch is being harassed and when Luke Vail, outlaw, comes home he tries to intimidate Slim into backing off. Slim fails to be intimidated and Carl Vail is found guilty of murder and sentenced to hang. It's the town of Laramie against Slim, Jess and Gen. Roberts, who want nothing more than to see justice carried out for Joe Cloud. Carl Vail escapes when Slim and Jess try to get him to the fort but help comes from an unexpected source and justice will be served.

Stolen Tribute

Clint Wade comes to Sherman Ranch and Relay station to force Jess Harper to lead him to where Jess caught up to his brother Roy five years previous. Clint wants the $80,000 in gold that his brother hid and Jess is the only one that can lead Clint to the gold. Faced with a life or death decision, Jess has no choice but to agree and it's an arduous trek through the desert over a route Jess barely remembers. They are soon overtaken by Clint's cell mate Deke Belden and suddenly it's Belden calling the shots. When they arrive at the old mission where Jess caught up with Roy, Jess' life becomes forfeit but they aren't alone. Someone saves Jess but it allows Clint and Deke the opportunity to find the gold. It becomes everyman for himself and Jess just may end up on the losing end of any bargain.

The Lost Dutchman

Slim Sherman and Jess Harper are in Jackson City to buy cattle from George Lake. Arriving in Jackson City late at night they enter the saloon where Jess runs in an old friend named Mason who has changed his name to George Lake. When he reneges on the deal, it leaves Slim steaming mad and ready for a fight. After a scuffle Slim leaves the saloon to go to the hotel but when a shot is heard, he is found standing over the body of George Lake. The sheriff refuses to investigate as circumstantial evidence points to Slim as the murderer. Jess is Slim's only hope to clear him of the murder. The puzzle gets only more convoluted with a odd assortment of characters all looking for a Durango cavalry spur that is purported to contain a map to the fabled Lost Dutchman Mine. Lake was murdered for it and the only man that can clear Slim wants it. With everyone double-crossing everyone else, Jess has to find the spur if he wants to save Slim. He just has to live long enough to do it.

Cactus Lady

When the west bound stage arrives, the driver tells Slim he has a very sick passenger who has slowed them down. Slim and then Jess help carry the sick passenger inside while the driver changes horses and decides to leave. With the passenger passed out, Slim starts to unbutton his shirt but then removes his hat to discover he is a she. He calls Jess who upon recognizing her pours water on her face. Troy McCanles has set her cap for Jess Harper and has shown up at the ranch to pickup where they left off in Texas, much to Slim Sherman's amusement. Jess wants nothing to do with Troy, seeing as her and her outlaw family nearly got him lynched in Laredo. Troy hasn't quite shaken loose of her outlaw family either, as she promised Jess. They've followed her to Laramie and are determined to make trouble for her. When Slim falls for Troy, he has no idea about her outlaw past until she admits all to him. But blood is thicker than water as Slim finds out.

Riders of the Night

Ben Yuma is badly wounded in a train robbery and badly needs a doctor. He and his gang have holed up in the caves near Laramie where he sends his brother for the doctor. Slim Sherman has gone to Laramie to fetch the Doc Kingsley, the vet, for his prize mare. He also picks up Sandy, one of saloon girls that has been asked to leave town. On the way to the ranch, in a case of mistaken identity, Phil Yuma kidnaps all three thinking that Doc Kingsley is a medical doctor. Kingsley is forced to remove the bullet from Ben Yuma but all is not well within the gang's ranks. Someone in the gang shot Ben and the dissension puts Slim, Doc Kingsley and Sandy in danger. What they don't know is that Jess Harper, after hearing a strange story from Mose the stage driver, has been trailing them into the hills. It's now a question of whether or not Jess will reach them in time to help.

Mark of the Manhunters

Marshal Jim Craig is escorting Gil Spanner to Cheyenne to testify against Chad Farrell, but Gil is anything but cooperative and Craig is now nursing broken ribs. With Farrell's men on their trail to stop Spanner from testifying, the sheriff of Laramie out of town, Craig takes Spanner to Sherman Ranch for help, putting Slim Sherman and Jess Harper in the thick of things. They find an unlikely ally in Val Farrell, Chad's wife, who wants nothing more than to see her husband hang. They are trapped in the ranch house with Farrell's men on every side and their own numbers dwindling. With night falling and Slim already wounded, it's up to Jess and Spanner to take a huge gamble and try and catch Farrell's men in a crossfire so they can survive.

Rimrock

Slim Sherman stumbles upon murder victim Hap Matthews and ends up getting shot by the murderer and left to die. Jess Harper sees the killer ride off on a pinto but saves his partner and ends up trailing the suspect to the town of Rimrock. A town with many secrets and lies being covered up by Sheriff Grant McLintock and his deputy, Rink Banners. He finds the pinto in Rimrock but much to his surprise he finds the horse is owned by Sheriff McClintock. When Jess pushes too hard for answers to the murder of Hap Matthews and the wounding of Slim Sherman, he's framed for attempting to murder Holly Matthews, Hap's daughter who had tried to help Jess. Caught by the ruthless sheriff and his vicious deputy Jess has to escape and prove he's innocent and that the sheriff's brother Charlie is the murderer, or be killed. Jess learns that the sheriff's secrets could cost him his life.

Run of the Hunted

After hearing shots Slim spots his neighbor Cory piling stones on a grave. As he approaches Cory takes a couple of shots in Slim's direction but intentionally misses him. After Slim calls out to Cory he is able to approach him learning that his cousin from his mother's side had been killed by someone. Cory Lake is the half breed heir to a large ranch that he wishes to give to his mother's Cheyenne people, much to the disgust of his uncle and cousins. His uncle has Cory committed to an asylum so that he can sell the ranch out from under Cory. When Slim Sherman finds out, he goes to see Cory but Doc Tolan claims that Cory is criminally insane. With Slim trying get Cory legally released, he escapes and makes matters worse by attacking Slim. Slim is left no choice but to join the posse chasing Cory and convince him to give up. It's desperate race to keep Jud from murdering Cory and it might cost Slim his life.

Episode 24

Two for the Gallows

Jess rides in as Slim waits for the late stage to arrive. Jess is hot because the lazy Dixson boys have let their cattle break the fence and wander onto the Sherman ranch so has to go repair it. When asked why the stage is late Mose, the driver, has Bert, the shotgun, dump the tied up Dixson boys, Pete and Len, out of the stage as they had tried to hold up the stage. Slim agrees to take responsibility for the boys so Mose leaves them with Slim. Another man on the stage calling himself Professor Landfield asks to stay to talk to Slim. Slim Sherman is hired to take Professor Landfield into the badlands to hunt for a gold strike a dead friend found a decade earlier. Slim doesn't know that the professor is really Morgan Bennett, member of the Plummer gang who's escaped from prison, and that he is after the gang's loot buried in the badlands. What Slim doesn't know just may end up costing him his life and it's up to Jess Harper, with the help of ne'er do wells Pete and Len Dixson, to save Slim and bring Morgan Bennett to justice.

The Debt

Harry Markle is being trailed by bounty hunter Hanson who fakes a campsite luring Markle into trying to ambush him which fails. Hanson takes the captured Markle into Laramie and turns him over to acting deputy sheriff Jess Harper for the night. Markle recognizes Jess although Jess has no idea who he is. Jess owes Markle his life when Markle cut him from a hangman's noose five years earlier. Markle is now accused of robbing the American Mail Company and killing the night watchman and he claims he's as innocent as Jess was on that long ago day. Jess repays the debt at the expense of his reputation, by letting Markle go then goes to Daggett to prove Markle's claim. He takes a job with the mail company and starts nosing around. Someone at the company office is a blackmailer and someone a murderer as Jess gets closer to the truth. The closer he gets the more dangerous it becomes. Proving Markle innocent may cost Jess his life.

Killers' Odds

Fred Powers is down on his luck and on the run when he meets up with Jess Harper. Jess and Slim Sherman help out the stranger by giving him a job and a place to stay, even after finding out that Fred has been dodging gunslingers out for the price on his head, put there by the father of a man he killed in a fair fight. Fred settles enough to start courting a local girl but the peace doesn't last and he is forced to go on the run again after Jess is beaten by a pair of gunmen looking for him. Not wanting to leave Laramie without saying good-bye to his girl he finds that she and her family are hostages of the gunmen. It's up to Slim, Jess and Fred to rescue them and not lose their lives in the process.

Bitter Glory

At Fort Laramie Major Stanton tells the sullen Sgt. Billy Jacobs to go home. Billy says he still has a couple of items to finish but after the Major leaves, he crumples a letter and then removes the Army payroll from the safe tucking it inside his jacket and leaves with it. At the Sherman ranch Slim enters the house finding Jess taking another bath. He has a date with the school teacher for dinner. Slim has a wire for Jess from Major Stanton asking him to come to Fort Laramie in regard to Sgt. Billy Jacobs. Jacobs saved Jess' life so he feels obliged to honor the request. Once there he learns Jacobs was turned down for a battlefield commission and is AWOL taking the $30,000 Army payroll. Stanton has not reported it yet wanting Jess to get Jacobs and the money returned before he has to report it. The clues are Billy's new wife Ellie in town and his mother and brother at the family farm. His father was recently killed by an Indian raiding party. Jess finds he doesn't trust the young and beautiful Ellie or her supposed cousin who ambushes him on the trail. The wounded Jess must continue his search, however.

The Tumbleweed Wagon

Slim Sherman is on his way home when he is shanghaied to become Billy Pore, a convict to be delivered to the Tumbleweed Wagon that takes convicted men to prison. The real Billy Pore was shot by the son of a farmer, Joe Warner, that was delivering him to the wagon when Pore tried to escape the pair. Desperate for $100 bounty on delivery, Slim becomes the substitute when spotted camped alone and a long way from his home so no one knows him. Despite his denials, Slim is imprisoned with the rest of the men on the wagon, one of whom is expecting his gang to help him escape. Slim is in a race against time, desperate to have the marshal's believe him before the wagon is ambushed. His only hope is the farmer's son convincing his father to go back and tell the marshals the truth about what they did before it's too late.

In a fit of rage when Jess fights back, Stack takes everything off the stage and leaves Scotty, Jess and the passengers to die. Stripping what they can from the stage the five set off across the desert trailing Stack and his men. It's a perilous journey with no food, no water, no horses and no weapons but it becomes evident that there is no honor among thieves as, one by one, they find bodies of the gang as they trek through the wasteland. For Jess Harper this journey will end one way only when he and the surviving passengers make it to Rawlings.

With no one to trust Longley turns to Slim Sherman for help, to the dismay of the young rancher. Slim owes Longley his life having been saved by the outlaw when he was a boy. Longley has also threatened Jess Harper's life if Slim refuses. Caught between the law and the old outlaw, Slim has little choice but he'll only do it if Longley turns himself in to prove he's innocent. Longley's gang breaks him out of jail when the hearing goes against him and he finally finds out who in his gang wants him dead but Slim could end up another victim in their plot to get Longley's money.

Dixie Howard is on the run, one step ahead of a bounty hunter when he and his companion Julie stop in Laramie to pick up a supply of whiskey. Dixie is forced into a gunfight and he ends up killing one of the stage drivers who suddenly recognized him. He's wounded and desperate for help, sending Julie to contact Jess Harper. Jess and Dixie rode together when Jess was young and he feels an obligation toward the man which puts him at odds with Slim Sherman, who's concerned that Jess doesn't see Dixie Howard for the killer he's become. Jess agrees to hide the pair out at a remote line cabin on the Sherman ranch but on the way there Kramer, the bounty hunter, catches up with the trio. Jess is able to disarm Kramer but Dixie shoots Kramer in the back anyway. Gradually Jess comes to realize that Dixie is no longer the man he once knew and that could be very dangerous for both Jess and Julie.

Strange Company

Slim and Jess realizing the stage is late ride out finding it under attack by three Sioux which they help drive off. The Sioux are raiding in the Laramie basin and making it dangerous for stage traffic to use the Laramie road. Slim Sherman suggests using the Old Laramie road until things settle down but the road needs repair. With Jess Harper off scouting for the Army, Slim decides to the stage on in while he has the driver Lon MacRae round up a work crew which turns out to be an odd assortment of citizens to work on the road. The Army sends the Army scout N'Codee to look for Sioux and hunt for food but few of the men other than Slim trust him. They find themselves under attack almost from the beginning and it's not by the Sioux. Someone in their small band is systematically picking them off one by one. Bad luck is dogging them at every turn as Slim tries to solve the mystery of who is doing the killing and why. He might find the answers a little too late.

A man named Collins walking down the street is knocked out as he passes the corner of a building and dragged back into an alley. After whiskey is poured on him, he is shoved into a woman's room causing her to scream. A man comes out yelling for the sheriff who happens to be there coming out of the same alley. Slim Sherman is in the town representing the stage line in a contract with Sheila Dawson for renewing right of way through her property. She's the widow of an outlaw with no head for running a ranch and she's been having bad luck in keeping a foreman, with the current one, Collins, in jail. Except he's actually an investigator for the stage company. He asks Slim to take the job of foreman because he's convinced that the money Sheila's husband stole and hid before he died is somewhere on the ranch. Slim takes the job but no one is what they seem from the hands to Sheila herself. As Slim gets closer to the truth about the money the more danger he's in until the truth is finally revealed.
