Episode 2
The second heat of season 8 features 8 invited artists producing a landscape of Royal Ascot on race day, while 50 others vie for a wild card working from the royal enclosure car park . The judges will pick a winner to advance and wild card

Episode 3
The third heat of season eight sees eight invited artists producing a landscape of Castle Ward in Northern Ireland, while 50 others vie for a wild card facing the opposite frontage. The judges will pick a winner to advance and a wild card.
Episode 4
The 4th heat of season 8 features 8 invited artists producing a landscape of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, while 50 others vie for a wild card working a short distance down the promenade. The judges will pick a winner to advance and wild card.
Episode 5
The fifth heat of season 8 features 8 invited artists producing a landscape of a Royal Enclosure Picnic at Ascot, while 50 others vie for a wild card working right along side them. The judges will pick a winner to advance and wild card.
Episode 6
The sixth heat of season eight features 8 invited artists producing a landscape of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland, while 50 others vie for a wild card further along the lough. The judges will pick a winner to advance and wild card.
Episode 7
The eighth season semi-final features the six heat winners and a single wild card, their task is to capture the Thames Barrier (London's main defense against flooding). From these competitors the judges will select the three finalists.
Episode 8
The eighth season final features the three finalists producing a landscape of Portmeirion in Wales, they are also each given a commission to paint different locations in a remote area of the Kentish coast. Prize is a £10,000 commission
Episode 9
The winner of the eighth season of Landscape Artist of the Year undertakes a £10,000 commission from the Royal Museums Greenwich to create a seascape for the 350th anniversary of the van de Velde's (father and son) arrival in Britain.
