During the Korea's Joseon Dynasty, there is a rumor that the king is dead. The bastard Crown Prince Lee Chang, who is the son of the King with a concubine, tries to find the truth, since the Queen is pregnant, but he wants to be enthroned King. He rides with his loyal bodyguard to the countryside looking for the doctor that last treated his father expecting to learn the truth. Meanwhile, the doctor returns to his hospital where a patient brings meat to the other patients causing a plague and havoc in the place.

Prince Chang and Moo Young look for Dr. Lee to learn the truth about the healthy of the King, and they return to the hospital in Jiyulheon. They find the place sealed with sharped bamboos and dozens of corpses locked under the floor. Moo Young summons the local authorities that bring the bodies to the village. But soon they stumble upon Dr. Seo Bi that warns that the corpses are indeed living-dead that will awake after the sunset.

On the next morning, Prince Chang, Moo Young, the local authorities, and the nobles agree to flee in boats with the survivals since there will be not time to burn all the corpses. But there is only one boat, and the authorities and nobles sneak out and leave Prince Chang, Moo Young and the survivors behind.

Prince Chang sees the boat living Moo Young and the poor people behind and commands them to run to seek out protection in Jiyulheon. On the next morning, the soldiers from Cho Hak Joo arrive and put the group under siege, but Prince Chang, Moo Young and the survivors defend themselves. Prince Chang and Moo Young decide to seek out Lord Ahn Hyun to help him since the King was resurrected. Meanwhile Cho Hak Joo does not respect the Queen's order and bring the defense council to see the King saying that he is sick to press them.

While heading to Sangju to look for Lord Hyun, Prince Chang and his group stop in a village where people is eating lots of meat. But soon Cho Beom-pal recognizes the clothes from the stranded boat and Prince Chang and Moo Young ask where the corpses are. However, the villagers believe they will be beheaded by the prince and take them to a bamboo grove where they try to kill the prince and his group. Out of the blue, they are attacked by zombies, but Lord Hyun and his warriors arrive and save the group. They head to his palace to rest but Seo Bi notes something strange and comments with Moo Young. Meanwhile Cho Hak Joo conducts bizarre experiments with the prisoners.
