MI5 Agent Eve Polastri is assigned to a special task force to protect the only witness of an unknown assassin, presumed by Eve to be the one killing people all over the world. Obsessed with female assassins, Eve has formed an investigative dossier on her own and has connected all to one unknown female assassin. Unbeknownst to Eve, she actually meets her antagonist while on guard duty for the only witness. Failure to save the witness results in Eve being fired by MI5, only to have another opportunity knock on her door for her personal obsession to become a reality. Meanwhile, Villanelle (the assassin) learns of Eve and her new task force. Though warned off by her handler not to touch either, she has the impetus to ignore these orders, as she is quite a psychotic yet brilliant assassin.

Carolyn uses a past connection who happens to be one of Villanelle's handlers, Konstantin. Nadia is at first willing to speak with Eve and Carolyn about Villanelle, but Konstantin shows up, and Nadia clams up. Meanwhile Villanelle has gotten herself into the same Moscow jail with the intention of taking care of Nadia, after which Konstantin will get her out. Eve asks Kenny to look into any and all correspondence between his mother Carolyn and the Russians, as Eve fears the worst is about to happen.

Kenny is now in Moscow, as Carolyn comes home from an all-nighter and tells Eve and Kenny to go back to London as Nadia has been killed while waiting to be released to the UK authorities. Eve and Carolyn go to the hotel restaurant and see Konstantin, who like Carolyn is still wearing the clothes he wore yesterday. Back in prison Villanelle, in solitary, gets a roommate who tries to kill her, but fails as Villanelle kills her killer. The guards rush her out to transfer her to another location, really to escape. She learns of a new handler called Anton who instructs her to kill Konstantin, but she turns and kills Anton. Back in the makeshift office, Kenny shows Eve love letters between Konstantin and his mother, Carolyn. More evidence turns up as Kenny and Eve defy Carolyn's order to return to London, while Konstantin is confronted by Villanelle, as he is her next target. Kenny breaks into the CCTV at the prison and, to his and Eve's horror, discover explosive findings.
