Top-lawyer Ron Trott runs his own prestigious L.A. law firm, which offers first-rate criminal defense, charging top-dollar to the wealthy, guilty or innocent or civil party, or occasionally accepts a case for the publicity or for a friend. He has an elaborate team, mainly comprised of specialists, from detectives and ex-public prosecutor Luther Graves to various paralegals such as a specialist in jury-selection and psychology. However Trott has a bright right-hand, charming Tom Nicholson, who is likely to become at least as good a pleader, provided he can control one weakness Ron seems immune for: human feelings such as sympathy, sincere disgust or compassion can cloud the cool competitive killer-instinct to win at any cost to earn a king's ransom.

Kevin O'Neil is arrested on live TV after his rich wife Caitlin O'Neil (34) was found, skull crushed, in their villa pool. From the moment D.A. Stormer hears Kevin engaged Ron Trot's top L.A. law firm, he revokes all promises to the prime suspect and starts to pull his own can of dirty tricks, especially playing to the press gallery, helped by a TV reporter who shares his aversion from the slick lawyers, who on their part make expert use of every means to win about always. Appearances are used, manipulated, spinned, from before the accusation and bail procedure to every stage of the trial, while carefully using all procedure rules and research of evidence, witnesses, even experts, about motive, means and opportunity, always trying to expose the other side's tricks, each team member being specialized: Ron in strategy and short press spins, Tom pleading with his honest face and coaching the client, etcetera...

Vanished Vanishes as Justice Reappears

Gale Harold's Eddie Cibrian's ratings-anemic Vanished has been pulled from Fox's prime-time lineup effective immediately, though the final four episodes wrapping up Sara Collin's mysterious disappearance will air online at Fox On Demand, starting today, with Episode 10. The recently vanished Justice will resurface Dec. 1 to claim the Fridays-at-8 pm time slot.

Ratings: Monday-night Friday Night Scores TD

This Monday's milestones....— Gaining 500,000 total viewers versus last week, Prison Break (8.97 million) had its best outing since Sept. 18. Similarly going to school on repeats of Wife Swap and How I Met Your Mother was CW's Everybody Hates Chris, which hit a season high with 3.56 mil.— With a 500K week-to-week gain, Heroes set a new series high of 14.73 mil.— Justice was up 300,000, but even at 6.5 million is still shy of its former Wednesday audience.— A special "one-time" (uh-huh... ) Monday outing of Friday Night Lights averaged 8.29 million total viewers, the freshman drama's best numbers ever, by a full million, and NBC's best performance in that 10 pm slot since the Oct. 9 Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
