Mr. Miracle and his wife Barda go to the Justice League for help, but J'onn J'onzz doesn't want to involve the League in helping one dictator over another. Flash wants to help, so he travels with Miracle and Barda to Apokolips in order to free Kalibak.

At the end, it is revealed by Batman that Superman had been baited by Luthor and Amanda Waller to discredit the JLU.

Shayera, Vixen, and Vigilante are lured into an ambush by Paran Dul, her Thanagarian army, and Kragger who is now crippled and put into a special suit of armor. Paran reveals that she wanted revenge on Shayera for betraying them during the Thanagarian invasion on Earth and she reveals that Hro Talak was killed in action during a Gordanian battle, causing Shayera to feel guilty for everything that has happened. In order to escape Paran Dul and her allies, Shayera decides to give herself up in order to give Vigilante time to get Paran Dul's ship and save Vixen. During the ensuing fight, Shayera takes out Kragger's power source and he is killed instantly. Vixen sends Paran Dul out of her ship, she and her army are stranded on the planet. Shayera, Vixen, and Vigilante make it back to the Watch Tower safely. Both Shayera and Vixen start to bond over John and the two start to form a friendship.
