The most remote, and perhaps, the most dangerous desert of the Sahara is the Tenere. It is a vast desiccated sweltering furnace that brings death to the weak the ill prepared or the unlucky. It is no wonder the Tuareg call it the land of fear. Starting his journey in the markets of Agadez, David Adams must hire a retinue of battle hardened men and form a convoy to traverse this 1,200 mile wasteland. Along the way he realizes there is no water, skis large sand dunes to the delight of the caravan, negotiates the purchase of a pillar of salt, and earns his place among the men of the Tuareg.
