He would ask a stranger to think of his/her name, and he would tell them what is was, first name or last name. Third, and most important, he was able to compel people to do his bidding, whether or not they wanted to. Because of his abilities, British authorities were anxious to get him in the care of Dr. Evans, a leader in paranormal research. They were hopeful that his talents could be used in matters of national security. Boy would occasionally slip out of the apartment where he lived and wander the streets. He was particularly attracted to Paula, an American actress. He would watch her from a distance. When he detected the government agents following him, he would lead them on a chase, causing the pursuer to make bad choices with street traffic. One was killed when hit by a lorry. Boy happens into a bar where Paula is being hassled by her agent. Boy uses his persuasive powers to make him walk away. Paula is grateful and hangs out with Boy. She finds him fun to be with. She even takes him home and allows him to kiss her. She gets her agent to invite Boy to participate in filming a commercial. The British authorities set up a surveillance center in the apartment next to the Wilson's. Agent Brown interacts with Boy and his parents several times. When Margaret locks Boy in while she is shopping, he climbs from his balcony to the surveillance apartment. He talks with Brown who is anxious to talk him into going with him to a special training center. Boy wants only to meet Paula for the commercial shoot. He talks Brown into stabbing himself with a long pick. Boy's ad for cigarettes is amazingly effective given his persuasive abilities. The crew all come up and ask for a smoke. Boy continues to pursue a relationship with Paula. He is upset when he finds she has been entertaining her agent again. He tells the agent to get into the bathtub, lie down, and turn on the faucet.
