The Mystery of the Lizard Men

Two ships are destroyed by a beam of light in the Sargasso Sea, and one is invaded by strange looking 'lizard men'. The U.S. government asks Dr. Benton Quest to investigate. He is accompanied by his son Jonny and Race Bannon. Race has been assigned by the U.S. to protect the Quests, particularly Jonny, since anyone wanting a hold over Dr. Quest might choose to harm or kidnap the boy. Jonny and Race discover that a foreign power is using the area to conduct laser experiments with intent to blow up a U.S. rocket headed to the Moon.

They caused the malfunction and aren't shy of using deadly force to get there first.

Dr. Kareem intends to unify Arab nations by stealing an artifact and putting the blame on westerners, but his theft inadvertently awakens a mummy which thereafter stalks him. Ignorant of his peril, Kareem enacts a plan to frame "old friend" Dr. Benton Quest as the thief, ultimately locking Benton, Race and the artifact together in an abandoned archaeological dig with poisonous adders for company. As Jonny and Hadji discover the plot and race to the rescue, the mummy closes in to administer justice of his own.

Turns out it's not gold but a rare metal called zanium. Only two scientists in the world can identify it - Dr. Quest and Professor Gunderson - and Gunderson died recently in a plain crash in Jahilipur. Or did he? With so many events and shady characters tied to Jahilipur, the Quest party investigates under the pretext of attending a tiger hunt with the local maharaja. Though outwardly welcomed, numerous attempts are made on their lives. Eventually, their suspicions of an old nemesis behind it all proves correct.

Treasure of the Temple

On a South American jungle expedition to a fabled lost city, the Quest party comes under attack from deadly traps and natives with blowguns. With their porters frightened off, Dr. Quest presses on, having come too far to turn back (not knowing that Montoya, their head guide, orchestrated these attacks). Once at the lost city, they find themselves watched and discover a native man staked out for death. For the boys safety, Benton decides to leave at dawn, but before they do, Jonny stumbles upon a secret treasure chamber. Now it's clear they've been hounded by Montoya and Perkins, a pair of tomb raiders seeking ancient treasure. With the treasure found, the raiders no longer need to worry about just scaring the Quests away. With assistance from the native they rescued earlier, the Quests escape and paddle for their lives down a crocodile-infested subterranean river with the armed raiders close behind.

Calcutta Adventure

The Robot Spy

On a military base, Dr. Quest is working on a secret revolutionary new weapon, the Para-Power Ray Gun, a weapon that drains the power from any mechanical device and renders it useless. Dr. Zin, very much interested in this project, sends a strange looking craft with a mysterious black sphere inside to land near the base. When the puzzled Quests have the sphere brought to the base for later examination, Dr. Zin soon engages the machine as a large spying robot sent to examine the secrets of Dr. Quest's weapon. Although Dr. Quest and Race catch it in the act, Dr. Zin brags that they cannot stop it from escaping. In the ensuing battle, the Quest family learns that their enemy is not bluffing when the departing machine literally shrugs off the most powerful blows against it. Can the Quests find a way to bring the robot down in time?

Their idyllic day in the sun takes a nasty turn, however, after Jonny discovers a Spanish doubloon at an old sunken ship. Jose, their hired cook, summons pirate cohorts, and the Quests are shortly after taken prisoner and threatened with death unless Jonny brings up the entire treasure for them. Hadji attempts to escape and bring help from the maritime police, but it's up to Bandit to save the day.

The Dreadful Doll

As Dr. Quest continues his fish studies, Hadji and Jonny scuba dive and spot a submarine entering a cave. Before the boys can convince Race and Dr. Quest that what they saw was not an illusion, an emergency call for help arrives. The daughter of the last plantation owner on Tanaiga Island has fallen under a voodoo spell that has scared away all other owners. Korbay, a former no-account, is now the powerful witch doctor responsible. Dr. Quest feels the sudden catatonia affecting islanders is medical rather than mystical in nature, but before he can concoct a remedy, the Quest ship is invaded at night, with a suga doll left behind to intimidate the doctor. As Benton brings remedy to two put under Korbay's "spell," Race dons scuba gear to check out the boys' submarine story and is captured while discovering much more than anyone imagined.

A Small Matter of Pygmies

Forced from the sky due to engine trouble, Race, Hadji, Jonny and Bandit crash land and discover a Brazilian pygmy staked out for death. They save him from becoming panther food but, for their interference, are taken prisoner by the pygmy tribe. At camp, Hadji uses his levitation trick to effect an escape, but Jonny's stumble over his own feet spoils it. As they're tied to stakes for the night, their grateful pygmy friend returns to stealthily set them free, but a spear, accidentally knocked into the camp fire, awakens the chief with a hotfoot. Angry and outraged, the pygmy chief hunts down the Quest party in retaliation. Now it's all Race, the boys and Bandit can do to stay alive, making their final stand on a hilltop against a tribe of angry savages.

Dragons of Ashida

The survivor of a human hunt finds refuge with the Quests and warns them against visiting Dr. Ashida's Island, but the Quests continue on. Welcoming them graciously, eminent Dr. Ashida soon shares the results of his improved gene therapy on native lizards headed for extinction. They're now as large as crocodiles, ill-tempered, and controlled only by a huge, one-eyed servant named Sumi. Repulsed before a staged dragon duel-to-the-death, Benton leads his group away. Dr. Ashida guides the subsequent discussion to a point where he can challenge Race to a judo match. Though employing unsportsmanlike conduct to win, Ashida loses. He then forces Race to accept a challenge against sumo wrestler Sumi, which Race, with difficulty, also wins. Now, in final retaliation, Ashida waits for the Quest party to leave his castle so he can sic his dragons on them.

Turu the Terrible

The Quest party travels up the Amazon looking for the location of high grade trinoxite ore. They run across a canoe containing one of the native brothers, Aku, who gave Dr. Quest his promising ore sample. Aku's brother had just been taken by the featherless giant bird called Turu. The wary Quests rent a boat and travel further upriver, past aggressive crocodiles, to find a mountain plateau where a living pteranodon resides. Strangely, it's also a pet controlled by a greedy, crippled slaver named Deen, who uses it to snatch natives for his "silver" mine (actually the trinoxite). Dr. Quest quickly decides to put a stop to them, and Deen wants them dead.

The Fraudulent Volcano

The Governor of Bahiti calls with a challenge for Dr. Quest: extinguish an overactive volcano. Benton's suspicions are aroused well ahead of a tarantula later appearing in his bed as his plane's hanger catches fire. The mountain erupts frequently, disgorging a colossal column of flame with smoke yet producing little ash and no lava. Flying over to peer into its crater, Benton and Race are shot down and captured by agents of Dr. Zin. Jonny and Hadji, having seen Benton and Race enter the volcano but not exit, head to rescue them, finding the mountain full of explosives and guarded by dangerous men with rifles and flying platforms.

Werewolf of the Timberland

Turning a government-sponsored search for a species of petrified wood into a personal camping trip, the Quests encounter surly French-Canadian lumberjacks warning them of a "loup-garou" in the area (a werewolf). Running a gold smuggling operation, they try scaring off anyone getting too close to their operates, then, if needed, send their foreman dressed in wolf skins to attack. As Bandit soon after gets chased off by a skunk, Jonny and Hadji become lost looking for him. Along comes White Feather, a stealthy native-American with a sizable wolf companion, to point them home, but heedless of his warning to avoid the lumberjacks, Jonny takes Hadji to investigate. They're captured, but as White Feather helps them escape, Dr. Quest and Race find themselves back at camp caught smack between White Feather's snarling wolf and a lurking "loup-garou."

Pirates from Below

Dr. Quest's new Underwater Prober, an amphibious craft with mechanical arms, enters its final series of tests before turnover to the Navy. Hadji and the doctor take leave to attend a mainland meeting with scientists from Calcutta while the others stay behind, adjusting the Prober's ejection system. Foreign agents, who've been patiently eyeing the project, mobilize to take it. As they force Race to drive the Prober to their secret underwater base, Jonny talks to Hadji through their portable communicators that the agents failed to notice. At the base, Race, Jonny and Bandit attempt an escape on hovercraft but fail, and when Dr. Quest and Hadji zero in for a rescue, they, too, are taken captive. With no other options handy, Hadji engineers an escape by hypnotizing their guard with his ruby. Now the Quests flee for their lives in the Prober, pursued by agents in minisubs with orders to kill.

Attack of the Tree People

The Quests must abandon ship when the Sea Quest catches fire. By dawn, the men, separated from Bandit and the boys, are rescued, but the others swim to an island inhabited by large yet friendly tree-dwelling apes who take them in. A pair of down-on-their-luck poachers get news of Dr. Quest's offer of reward for the return of the boys. A ransom, they think, will pay more, making them keen to find the boys and remove them roughly from their simian hosts.

The Invisible Monster

Fish - a local staple for centuries - has lately been making fishermen sick. Four investigators have disappeared looking into the Swamp Lake area for answers. Commissioner Wah asks Dr. Quest to look into the matter for them. Soon after agreeing to this, an assassination attempt on the Quest party is made and narrowly averted. The Doctor finds the fish heavily contaminated by a lethal toxin obtained from rocket fuel. While he and Race begin an airborne survey of the swamp area, Jonny, Hadji and Bandit are kidnapped. A traitor at Police Headquarter is found responsible. Now, Race and Benton must venture determinedly but silently into the swamps where "the trees have eyes" in order to rescue the boys and Bandit.

The House of Seven Gargoyles

Dr. Ericson has constructed a device that can reverse gravity. The key component is known as the "Ericon Bar." Ericson lives in a remote part of Norway in a castle with stone gargoyles. On the eve of a visit by Dr. Benton Quest, one of the gargoyles seems to come to life. In reality, it's a dwarf in disguise, assigned by agents wanting to seize Ericson's invention. As Dr. Quest's boat approaches the castle, Jonny thinks he sees a submarine periscope but no one in the Quest party believes him. But Jonny's eyes haven't deceived him. There is a sub, containing some of the spies after the invention.

While in Hong Kong, Dr. Quest is kidnapped by Dr. Chu, a mad scientist enlarging spiders and lizards to gigantic proportions. He needs Dr. Quest's assistance in keeping the harmful growth bacteria from draining into the nearby bay, possibly creating more monsters outside the laboratory. Race turns to his beautiful girlfriend, Jade, for help as she has connections in the city and is the most likely to be able to find Dr. Quest.

En route to Sumatra, the Quests spot the Star of Borneo, a Dutch freighter declared missing in the Java Sea. Landing their aircraft on deck, they find the ship seaworthy but deserted. As they discover and read the captain's log, baring a tale of woe and horror, an amphibious sea monster ventures out from the ship's shadows to destroy their plane. Stranded and unable to call for help, the Quests have to survive the night to build an escape raft in the morning, but circumstances force them to take an immediate stand against the monster for survival. Aiding them somewhat is the ship's Chinese cook, Charlie, whom they find half-frozen in the galley freezer.
