In1930s London, Robert Jekyll is a naive, sensitive young man moving away from the protection of his loving foster parents and finding his place in the world. As he feels himself coming under the power of a darkness he cannot control, he realizes that all this time his parents were protecting him from his true self. Jekyll has inherited the curse of his grandfather, and when angered or in danger he undertakes a graphic, twisted transformation to become Hyde, a shadowy, brooding figure of incredible strength and agility, confident and fearless. As he tries to discover his past and search for a cure, Robert Jekyll is drawn deep into Hyde's world of monstrous creatures and freaks of nature.

In 1885 Edward Hyde, Murderous alter ego of Henry Jekyll disappears. Fifty years later orphaned young medic Robert Jekyll returns to London from Ceylon where his superhuman strength and outbursts when stressed have attracted attention, requiring medication from adoptive father, Dr Najaran. He is told by solicitor Max Utterson that he is descended from Dr Jekyll whilst back in Ceylon sinister Captain Dance from the organization Tenebrae kills the doctor and his wife in his search for Robert. Sir Roger Bulstrode, head of MIO, an anti-monster spy network is keen to recruit Robert but before he can do so Robert, hearing of his foster parents' death, undergoes a deadly transformation, being rescued by music hall owner Bella and elderly Mr Garson, who seems to recognize what he is.
