Inspired by the events of the 1990 'Oka Crisis' in the Mohawk community of Kanehsatake, Québec. Mohawks protested the expansion of golf courses and parking lots onto sacred burial grounds and ancient forests. When they blocked access roads, police staged provocations and truckers incited unrest. The government called in the army, sparking nationwide calls for Indigenous rights.
