Dina's thrilled when Syd shares she's done the deed with Stanley. Walking Liam home, Syd confronts the bully bothering her brother, much to Liam's dread. At home, Liam, seeking comfort, asks Sydney for a puzzle, which entails a visit to the basement where their father once hung himself and died. The inner turbulence this causes Sydney, with her burbling telekinesis, may or may not have adversely affected Banana the hedgehog, but an invitation to a teen party brings even more agitation when Syd agrees to accompany Stan to homecoming and makes a move on Dina.

Meanwhile, Liam would like Syd and Maggie to try speaking to each other decently for a change.

Jenny tries to engage the others in a variant game of kiss-marry-kill, and Sydney stumbles upon a hurtful secret involving Brad.

Reviewing surveillance footage of the library does not reveal another presence, as Sydney had hoped, but a presence is still felt. As she slips deeper into paranoia (and at the top of Brad's shit list, now a pariah to his classmates), she, deemed a bad friend and brother, drives both Stanley and Dina away and incurs Liam's disfavor. With the idea of experiencing grief hallucinations, she seeks closure with her dead dad and looks to her basement for clues. Her mother, thereafter, finally reveals some details about Sydney's late father - details with which Sydney can readily identify.
