Episode 1

Lost in the Barrens

The team must protect Derek Spade, the ex whose girl went missing in the barrens shortly after dumping him, so her family, friends and sympathizing public besiege his home, demanding his arrest of eager to lynch him, Joe puts him in protective custody' but a lawyer gets him freed and the prosecutor sees no grounds for a charge. Charlie starts doubting as Rex likes the man, arrests two youngster attempting to set fire to his home and takes him in his own, only to flee to the barrens himself. Research shows her father and sister, who hope to track Spade down following Rex, aren't clean themselves. Sarah meanwhile worries, in between the complex forensics, about her ex and Charlie's own interests.

Episode 2

Punch Drunk Glove

Charlie happily attends a match of his estranged, once mutually doting kid brother Jack Hudson, who left touring as a professional boxer, finally back in town for a match against local rising star Rickie 'Hitman' Morgan. Against the usual deal, that Jack lets him win but isn't manhandled, his eye is deliberately opened. Shortly after, Ricky(s corpse is found in the training ring, where cameras recorded him being decked expertly by Jack. Joe officially takes 'prejudiced' Charlie of the case after walking out in credibly denying Jack's interview as he got blamed for Jack's lost promising career, but keeps digging and following Rex's nose. Alternative suspects include local boxers, notably Max, who was crippled after refusing to be sold off, and female manager Lizzie. Sarah is uneasy around superstitious pathologist Karma Poole and attempts to reconcile the Hudson brothers over a home dinner, where Jack's full frustration comes out.

Episode 3

Run, Donovan, Run

Donovan volunteers to drive his old partner, now a convicted criminal, to transfer him to a new prison. Criminals double-crossed by his former partner try to derail them. Jesse investigates an old robbery of musical memorabilia and snags an unlikely perpetrator.

Episode 4

Hand of Cod

SJPD gets the puzzling of a severed woman's hand with diamond ring, accidentally found by customs in a shipment of cod from missing seafood firm co-manager Toni London, destined for her sister and Antillian partner Kadi Barrett, probably the intended receiver of such grim message, so in need of protection. Rex's nose finds Toni's headless corpse, the team works out the criminal context, discarding her set-up ex Evan Barrett as gang boss Archibald Parsons comes in focus.

Episode 5

The Good Shepherd

Jesse enthusiastically gets an autograph from retired star detective Bruce Osgoode, who presents his autobiography, getting inspired to consider field work, hence enters fire arms training and proves such an ace that SWAT offers him a spot. Finding Osgoode insufferably haughty, Charlie walked off with Rex, who trots off to the stairs where Bruce makes a bad fall, needing hospital care and claiming Rex pushed him, which seems to fit near-witness student Kyle' story, so Rex is suspended till further notice, bored and making a mess at home. Charlie is formally told off the case, but gets informal support from Jesse and Joe, while teaming up with dodgy private eye David Mason. He knows Bruce as a creep and dirty cop who confiscated drugs to sell, but still has an impossible income, requiring at east one accomplice- suspects are sister Zoey Pearson and corrupt beat sergeant Mack Barry.

Episode 6

Den of Snakes

Fan Jesse congratulates his school days friend Markus Davies on a celebratory tournament with fat prize of the video game Snake Pit. The next morning, his father Alex, head of the company, is found among the toy snakes 'pit', but killed but mamba poison, with bruises suggesting he was forced into the fatal pit. Charlie and Rex's nose must first track down the killer, which was missing from Reptile Joey's park and is retrieved by him. Harder is finding the human murder and his motive, possible the claim by fired engineer Todd Harvey, now a food deliverer, his idea was stolen without credit or remuneration.

Episode 7

The Date Escape

When an explosion opens a wall at the women's prison, Charlie, Rex and Jesse help arrest the six who escaped, only to find it was all a diversion. An ex-cop and her terminal lesbian con lover escaped craftily, but keep taking crazy risks, like robbing a jeweler with his security cameras on and dining at restaurant, which turns out a bucket list. Charlie catches up just when a minister is about to wed them, followed by some more tricks but re-arrests both. Meanhile Joe ignores Jesse's online dating warnings at his peril and Sara checks on the escapees' claim that the prison doctor is a lethal sadist.

Episode 8

Bury the Lead

A fellow student's corpse is found by Donovan's daughter Camilla, murdered at a literally underground college rave. Joe isn't amused his teen does her journalism internship 'campus life assignment research' at illegal events, and has little luck forbidding her from meddling with the investigation, as she turns out to edit a student website with Frida Xavier. Charlie, Rex, Jesse and Sarah must find the killer while looking into secrets and grudges about true and unverified exposure of abuse by students and college staff. Meanwhile the team meanly pretends to have canceled Jesse's 30th birthday celebration.

Episode 9

Rexpert Witness

When Sarah's expert testimony in an arson court case is unraveled by a former colleague, the team has only 48 hours to discover the truth before the suspect is released. Sarah returns to the lab to get to the truth, and Rex assists in uncovering manipulated evidence to solve the arson and a murder.

Episode 10

One Wild Night

After a group of mainly medical friends hold a hen party in a male strip club, the only non-medic co-maid of honor makes a suspicious fatal fall despite a railing, but Sara finds no trace of violence or substance abuse, until Karma looks again having been informed it's a recovered drug addict. Charlie and ex's nose examine the party crew, the happy couple and their close ones, plus the dealer, but possible motives, including groom Rachid's one night off with the other maid of honor, keep failing versus alibis. Meanwhile Joe and promotion rival Vanessa spar about that at a self defense alternative seminar.

Episode 11

Working for the Weekend

Charlie pleasantly surprises Sarah by choosing an elegant B&B for their weekend off in a charming coastal village, but Rex's nose naturally leads straight to a corpse: a neighbor apparently committed suicide by hanging in his garage. Notoriously incompetent sheriff Marie Gordon haughtily waves expert help from the famous Rex and Charlie, but Sarah soon finds evidence of covered-up murder. Half the street is up for sale or foreclosure, like the victim's apparent motive, so Charlie looks especially into real estate interests, starting with the B&B's gay owners from Toronto.

Episode 12

Lost Lives Club

After a popular physiotherapist is murdered, the team must investigate the victims of his alleged sexual assaults in order to track down the killer before he strikes again.

Episode 13

The Miranda Act

Joe allows Charlie to let his meddling crime-writer aunt Miranda Hudson off with an informal warning, caught intruding he home of the man she and her senior friends circle suspect of setting up an investment fraud scheme that caused the pensioners serious losses. The man is found fatally stabbed thrice, yet Miranda against whom possibly planted evidence keeps piling up persists to escape, despite electronic monitoring, even from formal house arrest with Jesse as babysitter, who gathers fingerprints, putting herself and a buddy crone is danger from the fiend till team Charlie and Rex's nose fiend him dangerously 'close to home'.

Episode 14

Rexit, Stage Left

Jesse attends each year the traditional Newfoundland shipwreck play, this team the whole team as Joe plays the pirate. However before he can draw a cutlass, a crashing stage boat fatally crushes an actress, sabotaged. The victim was a reality show starlet, whom the producer forced upon the director instead of the local leading lady, one of many changes, not to the regulars' taste but allowing an unprecedented national theaters tour, which isn't canceled. By way of undercover, Rex replaces the taxidermy dog in the play, cuing team Charlie to work out all intrigues in and around the theater.

Episode 15

Northern Rexposure

Jesse gets permission to take Rex and Sarah to respond to a vague cry for help from his wayward sister Crystal Mills, who got in deep trouble in their native Ontario, where her dodgy boyfriend Nick Weller is the prime suspect -she stood guard- for the accidental homicide of the wife of their intended robbery victim. Charlie stays home, for his fourteenth attempt to solve a presumed kidnapping-murder, with the prime suspect's cahoot finally released from jail, only to convince him to stop chasing ghosts. When Jesse party arrives at their cold war air-force base hideout, Nick almost shoots at them, but before the lovers can explain their plight, a masked sharpshooter actually kills Nick. They run, Jesse manages to fly away but the plane is hit leaky, soon crashing by a lake. Jesse is mildly hurt, Sarah badly, so she instructs Jesse how to operate her internal bleeding while Rex is sent to deliver a message to send help.

Episode 16

Due North

After avoiding wild predators, Rex reaches the local police station and gets is message read by detective Sidney Scott, who contacts SJPD. Rex shows the way, first on foot, then in a rescue airplane, and finds Jesse's party, in time for Sarah to get proper hospital care and recover fats enough to help search for the masked killer. He's involved in the murder of Sidney's husband Daniel Scott, a mining company executive, somehow involved in a major environmental scam, where she wrongly suspected local Indian leader Elvis Migwans, whose daughter got handicapped by poisoning. Jesse works out his sister's innocence of murder and deals with the planned robbery.

Episode 17

Lost and Found

Charlie can barely believe that after fourteen years, recently released Bertrand Boyle is finally prepared to meet him about missing cahoot and presumed kidnapper Trevor Miles, only to find him murdered. That does provide leads to a buried female, but it's not the missing Alison Anders, only an adult accomplice. Team Charlie tracks down the girl, who however lives in the forest, convinced Trevor's alias is her widowed father , hence unwilling to even meet her real mother Fiona. Next Trevor's prepper bunker hide-out.

Episode 18

Jail Break

Criminal mastermind Billy Mumford awaits transport to another murder trial. On his first day, rookie Ben Rawlins has to lock up rowing petty criminals Toby Blu and Skye Gibson in cells next to Billy's, but her fake fainting allows knocking Ben out and freeing Mulford, who planned it all and takes Ben hostage. Jesse nearly got taken, playing with Karma in the adjoining mortuary, but they escape narrowly, while Ben gets shot. Charlie makes SWAT hold on, sends Rex through the vent system and takes Ben's place, convincing the duo fighting their way out is only worthwhile for Mumford, who has nothing to loose, and ends up shooting the 'traitor'.

Episode 19

The Cook, the Chief, the Cop and His Lover

While Joe and lover Vanessa rival to succeed Chief Mike Archer, who is about to retire, Charlie and Sarah find him dining in the same Chinese restaurant, 'Best Menu', and dying from poison in the paste used only for him, as regular, given an allergy for the normal signature dish ingredient. Owner Peter Wong and his wife suggest sabotage by his former founding partner , who started next door rival restaurant 'Better Menu', with his son, who turn out to have secret affair with Peter's daughter and sous-chef, whose brother is a loser. First suspects are ex-cons: a grim supplier and a dumbo who threatened Asher, for their arrests.

Episode 20

One for the Road

Trying to stop a car thief, Jesse is shot most worrisome. The team suspects it's the work of a well-organized gang that also export looted cars for terrorists. Awake in between surgery, Jesse can identify robber Max Fontana, and even indicate his smarter girl friend Diana Renault, but she outsmarts the trap Charlie sets up, thereby accidentally kidnapping Rex. Joe throws away his interim promotion to help solve the case by suspending port traffic till the canine detective gets himself found, putting Vanessa in the lead.
