Diamonds Rex finds hidden at me with a revolver stem from an old diamond heist which left him a wanted criminal, falsely convicted for the death of his cahoot Shane Milner, who drowned. He built an honest business under a death man's identity in St. John's for the past 20 years with a wife, who knew, and their unsuspecting son Scott, whose commercial DNA test out of curiosity for his never-told paternal background must have alerted the client who shot at 'Nelson' and turns out to be Shane's vindictive daughter Olivia.

A murder at the St. John's docks requires a joint investigation into a high stakes smuggling operation with the harbor police, who assigned Charlie's police academy near-ex an old antagonist Leah Purkis, whom he doesn't want to team up with and Rex instinctively dislikes, having been trapped in a container. Jailed suspected smuggle mastermind Tyson Biggs points to Red Knowles, who is murdered that very day. Other potential mastermind is record-clean former lieutenant Bruce Luxton. Both loyalties among cops and crooks are tested and upset by the finale.

When the lead singer of a band is found dead on a beach by a passer by, Hudson discovers that the singer had secrets from gambling problems, alcohol abuse, stealing his brothers songs and even an affair with one of his band mates, the suspects include not only his band members and his brother but also the passer by that may be more band stalker then sand walker. Can Rex sniff out the murderer?

They find the perfect picture of love, friendship and success online covers cesspit of jealousy, greed and betrayal among wedding guests, staff, obsessive fans and (in-law) family, all with their own agenda or frustrations. The poison was available to all in the church hall flower pieces, but actually administered by the 'herbal supplement' pills the mother still hopes to launch. Even the marriage was a scam, a scripts being prepared for the 'next chapter: divorce'.

Charlie teams up with a fellow Rex-fan, nature ranger Kendra O'Dore, to examine the disappearance of activist and nature photographer Alia Roy, reported by her widowed mother Deena, on the day she was to receive an environmentalist photography award. It turns out she fell from a cable ride while shot. It's the area around a secretive 'data protection' firm on crown land and protected by Defense, whose chief of security Valentine Anson scares even Charlie. A rogue wolf proves the lesser danger while searching the forest for Alia.

Former archaeology student Miles Chaffey is killed at a Viking LARP with an authentic sword, carved a death rune with a modern knife. The LARP site 'New Walhalla' is about to be abandoned as the land is to be developed by real estate agent Brody Max, whose showroom is vandalized and branded with the death rune. Game master Gabby Mitchell keeps secrets, Rex finds the knife buried in her front yard, player Fred Beasly had a row with Miles and her. Miles and the Viking sword, allegedly the legendary, priceless unique Lothbrock, were involved in complex conflicts involving professor Dr. Reginald Meade, who is being promoted dean, and nearly discredited Dr. Helen Dubois. Jesse, Sarah and Rex's nose hand Charlie enough clues to untangle all lies.

A rower of the prestigious university team of four is the only victim, but a corpse, after they are shot at during river practice. Prime suspect is the grumpy shells-shocked veteran who turns his rifle at anyone, even Charlie, who approaches his land, but forensic doubts arise. Charlie rather looks at the team, as he was the only student without silver spoon, and possibly barring a mate from qualifying for the Olympics. Rex's nose helps reconsidering the shooting spot, retrieving the empty shell and working out the parts played by hazing, acoustic deception, the coach, the college official in charge of the non-lucrative team and a rower's girlfriend.

Charlie, Rex and forensics must team up with French detective Valerie 'Val' Bertrand to investigate the murder by drowning of a French food critic whose corpse was found in a gin barrel on St.Pieree and Miquelon, but killed in Canada. The barrel came from the main east coast gin distillery, run by Basil Thomas and his marketing-responsible wife, who fails to hide her affair with the critic, which actually was a ploy. The critic also dined in Galen Wheatcroft's substandard seafood restaurant, served by the frustrated former owner Sophie Doucette, all looking for 'Hank', traced by Jesse, which turns out a nickname for the most exclusive 17th century royal cognac Henry V, focus of an elaborate counterfeit scam, rich enough to kidnap the detectives for and to provide a clever way out.

While even Jesse finds handling the robotic dog challenging, but Rex easily gets under his paw, Charlie tails vehicles and finds out about multiple conflicts and deceit, from ambition and strategy to the manipulated cover-up of an earlier accident that landed a man in a wheelchair.

They also investigate the app founder, who tried to hide her own complex relationship with Nate, including a love nest at company expense.

However the witness never turns up, being the victim's elder Jonas. Team Charlie must investigate, finding nothing is or was as seemed, with multiple cover-ups related to major drug trade and police corruption while present chief Joe Donovan was a rookie over his head as informers handler. As they get closer, another murder follows.

Charlie and Rex head underground into an allegedly haunted mine after the lead actor in a horror movie being made there warned off and is found dead during a horror film shoot. The asphyxiation could have been helped and someone was around but deliberately refused to help, of worse. The site was chosen to be authentic concerning the local legend about a miner gone murderous, who was recorded on film, in period costume. The costume trails to a dodgy local antiques dealer, who's jailed but cleared as a second murder, on producer Gloria Hamlin. The team also looks into rivalry and infidelity among cast and crew, including troublesome financing and a ploy to have the production assistant, who actually created the script story, play the spooky miner, whose positive real history motivated the antiques dealer. Investigating in the mine at night, Charlie and Sarah get trapped as the main suspect's crying causes a cave-in, only Rex can crawl out and seek help from Jesse, whose research fills the gaps.

Charlie and Rex investigate the long list of enemies surrounding a vitriolic celebrity chef after a finger turns up in his Beef Wellington, to be tasted by a TV food critic. The chef was involved in ruthless rivalry, opposing classical carnivores to modern vegans, complicated by 'kitchen politics' and career-relevant sneaky moves as 'bad' publicity can actually be lucrative.

Charlie rushes to the first sighting of a serial arsonist, who gets away while Charlie is blown away and saved from drowning by Rex. With a broken leg, Charlie can only coordinate from his hospital bed, with Jesse and Sarah rivaling for 'lead field detective' status. Hunky firefighter Asher Browning eagerly offers full cooperation, but after he circumvents his fire chief's veto against sharing files, the case is formally handed over to state police. Team Charlie still stakes the de facto lead, only to stumble upon horrible unhealed wounds from past fires, requiring another Rex rescue in the fiery finale.

Temptation is irresistible to seek his help in identifying who are behind a new, competent banknote forgery, greatly superior to one he failed at miserably years ago. Jesse puts evidence on a memory stick while an external IT expert is called in to fix a system breakdown. A crooked cop enables Rupert to turn the tables, putting Charlie and Rex in cages and forcing them to help him search the station for something, with another mole. It turns out a battle of whits and smart dog paws.

His wife is found throat-slashed ad in his hotel suite bath, but she convinces the team he must be innocent. Team Charlie finds evidence pointing at colleague Dr. Reese Shahar, but is duly unconvinced and digs on, Jesse finding likely motive.
