Episode 1
47 mins
Just days before the local ice hockey team's season highlight, ice technician Achim Ewald is found dead on his ice resurfacer. According to pathologist Dr. Fuchs, the man was bludgeoned to death with a sharp object. Coach and club president Rudi Stanglmeier insists that Ewald had done nothing wrong. But then Hubert and Girwidz find a small bag containing suspicious pills in the ice technician's office. Did Ewald have dark secrets? His widow, Fiona, can't imagine that her late husband was involved in any shady dealings. His death doesn't seem to be a catastrophe for her. The couple were planning to divorce, and Fiona Ewald was supposed to move out. This seemingly "lucky" coincidence, however, makes the widow a prime suspect. When it turns out that the fatal injury was caused by an ice skate blade, Hubert and Christina Bayer begin searching for the murder weapon. They don't hesitate to confiscate the skates of the entire ice hockey team, including those of figure skater Franzi Müller, just before the semi-finals. Dr. Fuchs is tasked with examining them. It soon becomes clear that Christina also has a personal interest in the investigation: she's a huge fan of the ice hockey team and an even bigger fan of goalie Tommy Klein. The hot-headed goalie, however, is constantly clashing with team captain Paul Neumann and apparently also had close ties to Achim Ewald. Stanglmeier soon finds himself worrying not only about his team's success but also about the club's reputation.

Hubert and Girwidz begin their investigation and discover that Sina had been secretly meeting with Jochen Heiling, the chairman of the local youth club. Was it a murder motivated by jealousy? Sina Fredl's husband, Sebastian, falls under suspicion. But the more Hubert and Girwidz investigate, the more clues they uncover in the past. To his surprise, Girwidz discovers that Hubert and Heiling have known each other for a long time from fishing trips. The case takes a dramatic turn when it comes to light that Hubert has been passing confidential information to his friend Jochen Heiling. Because only Christina's dance group had been using the space recently, the proprietor, Josefine Gräzinger, and the dancers are now under suspicion. They are told to stay until Dr. Fuchs has completed his investigation. Christina persuades her colleagues to continue rehearsing their dance routine in the meantime. The only problem: After Fritsch's electric shock, the male partner is missing. Riedl refuses to step in because he can't dance. Girwidz, on the other hand, is enthusiastic. But he only knows classical dances. The street dance routine is completely beyond the police officer's capabilities. ... Meanwhile, dancer Stefanie Eggert secretly slips away and informs on her colleague Louisa Brandl at the police station.
