Episode 1
48 mins
Police Commissioner Girwidz orders meticulous, all-round surveillance. The object of the surveillance: Bernd Winter, who has returned to Wolfratshausen after a long prison sentence. The convict is responsible for a bank robbery and hostage-taking, in which a cashier was killed. Girwidz suspects that the convict is returning to the crime scene to retrieve his loot, which has remained untouched to this day. Hubert and Staller aren't exactly enthusiastic about the surveillance operation. They fear Winter's revenge for having caught the criminal and imprisoned him. But Girwidz will tolerate no opposition. The entire team must report for surveillance. But Winter is no easy opponent. Not only does he expose the Wolfratshausen residents' surveillance attempts, but he also appears to be playing a shady game with the police. Girwidz must change his strategy: from covert surveillance to a tactic of attrition. He hopes that if Winter constantly has the police in his sights, he'll eventually give up and voluntarily hand over the loot. But instead of the money, Winter leads his pursuers to his old friend Sepp Holzmeier. He's anything but pleased to see her again - just like Josefine Thiel, who even becomes physically violent toward Winter. Hubert and Staller soon realize why the young woman is reacting so emotionally: She's the daughter of the cashier who was shot. Has Winter returned to apologize, or does he have something else up his sleeve?

Episode 2

Precinct Chief Girwidz's visit to the well-known crime writer Lydia Fernét takes a dramatic turn. When he enters her living room, he finds the woman lying dead on the floor. He himself is knocked down, and the perpetrator escapes undetected. Who is responsible for the successful author's death? The investigation leads Hubert and Staller to Claus Umbach's publishing house. The publisher and the dead woman's assistant report how popular Fernét was with her crime series. But fame had its downsides, as she had been severely harassed by a stalker for some time. And indeed, the man can be seen in surveillance camera footage outside her house. Did this obsessive adoration lead to murder? Tracking down the fugitive is more difficult than expected, as no one knows his true identity. So the investigators set a trap for the man: They spread the word to the public that Lydia Fernét survived the attack and is in the intensive care unit of the Wolfratshausen hospital. Hubert, Staller, and Sonja Wirth lie in wait at the hospital. The man they're looking for actually turns up, but Hubert and Staller accidentally catch a man who's trying to visit his wife. While Girwidz suffers from the effects of his head injury, Staller, inspired by the investigation, discovers writing. Supported by the likeable publishing assistant Julia Zobel, he devotes himself entirely to his literary ambitions. When a childhood friend of the murdered author suddenly appears, Hubert and Staller begin to doubt the stalker's guilt. It's an old typewriter, the one the dead author used to write her bestsellers, that ultimately leads the two investigators to interesting insights and puts them on the right track. Who wanted the crime queen to die?

Episode 3
47 mins
When Sonja Wirth accompanies an agitated customer to the "Lange leben" farm shop to file a complaint, she makes a horrific discovery: For owner Thomas Lange, the motto of his business has clearly not been fulfilled - he is lying dead on the floor. Dr. Anja Licht can find no direct evidence of external violence. When Hubert and Staller, who were involved in the lengthy and complex "TÜV for Car 3" case, arrive at the scene, the investigation gains momentum: Hubert appears to be the only one able to detect the bitter almond smell of cyanide. Staller initially doubts his colleague's poisoning theory - naturally also out of hurt vanity, as his own nose for sleuthing seems to have let him down in this case. A bag of organic food found on the dead man can be traced back to his business rival, Markus Till. However, a test on the living object shows that the goods are not poisoned. When Hubert and Staller discover that the health food store's financial situation doesn't seem particularly rosy, the dead man's wife, Sabine Lange, comes into focus: The expected proceeds from her husband's life insurance policy could be a legitimate motive. But there are also surprising revelations about Marcel Wiesner, the farm shop's only employee. Just as Hubert and Staller are about to zero in on a perpetrator, they come across more cyanide-laced goods at Café Rattlinger: a dietary supplement that the victim had also taken. So, is a dangerous criminal on the loose in Wolfratshausen, or has the manufacturer perhaps circulated contaminated pills? Police Commissioner Girwidz makes the matter a top priority. Just when it's literally a matter of life and death, the station's telephone system breaks down. But ultimately, it's his colleague Riedl who proves that sometimes things don't go so badly for something to malfunction.

Episode 4
48 mins
Hubert and Staller are on duty for "Operation Tire Change." That's why Police Officer Riedl is the first on the scene on his bike and has to demonstrate nerves of steel. Because the reported break-in resulted in a death. The masked burglar, who was apparently after a very valuable classic car, was surprised by the homeowner, Linda Weynfels, and shot in self-defense. Hubert and Staller, with the help of forensic pathologist Dr. Anja Licht, reconstruct the events. The evidence at the crime scene points to a situation of self-defense, which is consistent with Linda Weynfels's statements. Both the firearm and the luxury car belong to her husband, Max Weynfels, who is away on vacation. He trades in valuable classic cars for a living, and Linda Weynfels herself, much to Staller's delight, is a former rally driver. The investigation reveals that the deceased, Joachim Knoll, was a loyal employee at Max Weynfels's car dealership. But why does a good employee suddenly become a criminal? Hubert and Staller find a large sum of cash in the dead man's apartment. Was Knoll instigated to commit the break-in? Hubert and Staller begin searching for the perpetrators of the crime. Meanwhile, Staller's enthusiasm for rallying is not only damaging Hubert, but especially the patrol car. And the necessary visit to Yazid's garage leads the investigators to an interesting lead. When Dr. Anja Licht's analysis finally determines that the crime in the garage must have happened differently than Linda Weynfels initially stated, Hubert and Staller begin to see the break-in in a whole new light.

Episode 5

Hubert and Staller are tasked by Girwidz with picking up a box of Cuban cigars for City Councilor Josef Sandinger's birthday. The dead owner of Wolfratshausen's only cigar lounge, Franz Jäckl, reveals to them that smoking can be fatal. Struck down with a heavy ashtray, his murderer also stuffed one of his favorite cigars into his mouth. For Staller, this is an unmistakable indication that someone was trying to silence a talkative witness. While Hubert and Dr. Anja Licht secure the crime scene, Staller meets cat owner Gabi Stötzke. Living alone with 20 cats, she is known throughout the neighborhood as a sinister catwoman, but this doesn't stop Staller from displaying his courtship behavior. But besides Staller's love affair, there is still another case to be solved. The investigation not only leads to the trail of print shop owner Werner Stubenmayer. To Girwidz's horror, City Council Chairman Sandinger also appears to be involved in the case. Hubert and Staller soon discover that cigars can be a lucrative investment. Through their colleague Sonja Wirth, the two police officers realize that the obvious isn't always the motive.

Episode 6

Hubert and Staller run out of gas and are forced to take an involuntary walk across the countryside to the nearest gas station. While searching for a spare canister, the two make a horrific discovery at a gas station: Martin Geier is lying stabbed to death in his garage. Neither employees, friends, nor Ines Geier, the dead man's wife, can explain who could have killed the upstanding gas station owner. However, when Hubert and Staller discover a secret stash of stolen airbags and navigation devices in the gas station, the victim appears in a completely different light. Apparently, the man was operating as a large-scale fence. Was a dispute between criminals the trigger for the murder? In their search for an accomplice of the dead man, Hubert and Staller find him at the police station. There, handyman Lutz Tröger not only drives station chief Girwidz to his last nerve with repair work, he also turns out to be the dead man's nephew. And there's some evidence that he's involved in his uncle's shady dealings. When Hubert and Staller discover a connection between the stolen car parts and their friend Yazid, the investigation takes an unexpected turn. The case becomes unpleasant not only for Yazid, but also for station chief Girwidz, who suddenly finds himself in a difficult situation. But he unintentionally puts Hubert and Staller on the right track, and our investigators gradually close in on the clever murderer.

In front of Hubert and Staller, Klaus Böttcher jumps to his death from a bridge. Shortly before, the father of a family had been at the police station to give a statement. However, after receiving a cell phone message, Böttcher quickly left. Was the man driven to his death by this message? Shortly before the desperate act, an unknown sender apparently threatened Böttcher with harming his young child. While the police station is searching for the sender of the threatening email, Hubert and Staller have another problem. While trying to prevent Böttcher from jumping, Staller was hit by a car and will now be in a wheelchair for several days. Staller, who escaped with two bruised knees, is unstoppable and wants to continue with the investigation, but he literally rubs people the wrong way. An annoyed Girwidz promptly places him on temporary leave. Since he can no longer reach his apartment in his wheelchair, Staller is happy that Barbara Hansen offers him a temporary stay. The journalist has returned to Wolfratshausen because her father has died. Sonja Wirth and Hubert learn that the suicide victim is the owner of an investment firm that has gone bankrupt and defrauded numerous investors of their money. Staller, on leave and confined to a wheelchair, believes he is witnessing a crime in Barbara Hansen's neighborhood. He sees a man in the early morning hours dumping a bag in the water at the dock on his property, which appears to be moving. Staller quickly determines that his neighbor, Hanselmann, has dumped a person in the lake. After an initial confrontation with the suspect, he also believes he knows that the victim is Hanselmann's partner, Birthe Wollhaupt. Doggedly and against all odds, he tries to prove his suspicions. But not even his colleague Hubert believes him. But then it turns out that the deceased Böttcher had not run the insolvent company alone: his partner at the time was Staller's new neighbor, Hanselmann.

Episode 8
48 mins
It's not just Hubert who is experiencing a nightmare: He wakes up in a chic country hotel next to his long-time ex-wife, Anja. District manager Girwidz also can't explain how he came to have his nose ring and breeding bull. But things get even worse. Staller awakens from a dreamless sleep, snuggled up to the corpse of heart specialist Dr. Sebastian Hartmann. Less than 24 hours earlier, Hubert and Staller had found the dead doctor in the pathology department's underground parking garage, bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher and drowned in firefighting foam. They can still understand why they had one too many drinks at Anja Licht's 25th anniversary celebration. But they can't understand why they and all the guests, including important hospital representatives, have a complete blackout. Suffering from a severe hangover, Hubert and Staller try to clarify the background to the Hartmann murder case. The fun-loving heart specialist had resigned from both his job at the hospital and his practice to emigrate to Canada. The reason for this was an inheritance he owed to a recently deceased patient. His partner, Irina Jäger, was shocked when she learned of Hartmann's plans. Was the surprising inheritance a motive? The full scope of the case only becomes clear to Hubert and Staller when Anja notices the theft of evidence that the police had found next to Dr. Hartmann's body. Her suspicion immediately grows stronger that Hartmann's murderer might have poisoned the guests at the anniversary celebration with a cocktail of drugs to obtain the evidence. This at least narrows down the circle of perpetrators, but Hubert and Staller are now also confronted with the kidnapping of a witness.

Episode 9

Blonde Christine Wagner is a real hit, Yazid knows that already after their first date in a restaurant. But eternal love is out of the question, as Christine dies shortly after the rendezvous. Yazid finds her body in the parking lot of the restaurant where he met the woman of his dreams. When Yazid, in a fit of rage, picks up the murder weapon and is seen with the knife in his hand, the otherwise unapologetic rascal has no choice but to flee. Hubert and Staller quickly realize: their long-time friend has a serious problem. Before station chief Girwidz issues a warrant for Yazid, however, he turns himself in and protests his innocence. In light of overwhelming evidence and the fact that he's dating another woman despite his new girlfriend Angie, even Staller begins to doubt Yazid's innocence. Hubert suspects that there isn't much time left before her boyfriend ends up in custody. The first lead leads the investigators to the "Herzblut" loyalty testing agency, which the murdered woman had run together with Nina Schulz. The two women tested men in relationships for their willingness to have affairs. In fact, Christine was only working for Yazid as a decoy, i.e., professionally. The client was Angie, who wanted to find out where she stood with her new boyfriend, Yazid. The test result would undoubtedly have meant the end of Yazid's relationship. But would that make him a murderer? Hubert and Staller find another couple whose relationship came to an abrupt end at the hands of loyalty tester Christine: Franz Hübner is still mourning his ex-girlfriend Katharina, who broke up with him after the loyalty test. And he even claims to have been set up by Christine.

Sonja Wirth goes undercover to hunt down a pickpocket at the Ritter dance school. But instead of catching the thief, she witnesses dance school owner Jonas Ritter being killed by a ceiling speaker during class. To Hubert and Staller, it all looks like a tragic accident. Ironically, it turns out that her buddy Yazid installed the speakers. Did he botch the installation? Yazid angrily denies this, and in fact, the investigation reveals that the speaker mount was cleverly tampered with. Who could have a motive for eliminating the dance teacher in such a cunning way? When Hubert and Staller investigate a complaint from Barbara Hansen about illegally parked cars in front of her bakery, they learn from the newly minted shopkeeper that the dead man was a notorious womanizer. Jonas Ritter also seems to have meant more to his attractive business partner, Marcella Torres... Staller is smitten by the fiery dance teacher and, to his colleague's horror, discovers the tango dancer in himself. This temporarily clouds his view of the crime, and he can't believe that the adored dancer has become the focus of the investigation. Did she kill her partner to get her hands on the dance school's property? Sonja Wirth, meanwhile, is on the heels of the pickpocket and is finally able to convict him through a clever move. As Hubert and Staller examine a veritable treasure trove of stolen goods, their investigation into the dance school murder also takes an unexpected turn.

Episode 11
48 mins
Hubert and Staller are called to a break-in at an apartment building: Egon Dressel's basement unit has been robbed. While Staller tries to clarify with the agitated elderly man what exactly was stolen, Hubert finds a dead young woman in a side corridor of the basement, apparently recently murdered. Janine Lorenz was one of the last residents of the apartment building, along with the retiree and the alternative couple Nadja Erdmann and Tim Schiller. When Hubert and Staller learn of the planned luxury renovation of the building, the owners Helmut and Ursula Neubert come into focus. Were the two really willing to go to any lengths to expedite the eviction? When the Neuberts can prove that the murder victim had already accepted a moving-out bonus, it becomes clear that this lead is leading nowhere. During the autopsy, Dr. Anja Licht determines that Janine Lorenz had consensual sex immediately before her death. However, her ex-boyfriend Lukas Müller claims he hasn't seen Janine Lorenz for weeks. Unfortunately, the young man isn't much more cooperative than the couple from the apartment building, who are apparently at odds with the police for political reasons. To find out who was intimate with the victim on the day of the crime, Staller combines business with pleasure. All the suspects soon find themselves at a social evening, which Staller discreetly uses to collect DNA samples. Sonja Wirth, meanwhile, is also killing two birds with one stone: Her investigation into graffiti on public buildings also leads her to the "respectable" house, and thus her colleague's undercover investigation yields a valuable insight into the murder case for Hubert and Staller.

Episode 12
48 mins
Hubert and Staller find the body of pool cleaner Markus Greben in the swimming pool of nightclub owner Bert Joschek. Was it an accident or even murder? Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht must first determine that. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller begin their investigation, which proves more difficult than expected. A fall into the pool with its extremely high chlorine content and the botched treatment by the landlady Sandra Joschek temporarily caused Hubert to lose his sight. With an opaque eye bandage, he is now helplessly at the mercy of the caring Staller. Bert and Sandra Joschek soon emerge as the prime suspects in the murder. The victim's widow has long suspected that her husband had an affair with Sandra Joschek. That Bert Joschek murdered Greben out of jealousy seems increasingly likely. If it weren't for Augsburg real estate speculator Reinhold Lohse. Not only was he in contact with the murdered pool cleaner, he had also suggested to Police Commissioner Girwidz that he rent his converted feed factory as a new police station. Much to the horror of Hubert and Staller, who already imagined themselves sitting in an open-plan office with Riedl and Sonja Wirth. How advantageous it would be if real estate speculator Lohse actually turned out to be Markus Greben's murderer. But Lohse has disappeared. And then Sandra Joschek torpedoes Hubert and Staller's perpetrator-victim construct: Using a gas receipt, she destroys her husband's alibi. He denies murdering Markus Greben, believing instead that his wife wants to get rid of him. Hubert and Staller put Riedl on the case. Disguised as a crime scene cleaner, he is supposed to get to the bottom of the bored and promiscuous Sandra Joschek.

Episode 13
47 mins
Party alert for Hubert and Staller. They're called to a house full of party-loving women because of a disturbance. Tina Geiger's bachelorette party is in full swing there. But instead of being annoyed, the evening's organizers, Caro Sendele and Anja Grobmeier, are delighted by the police visit. They've booked a stripper in a police uniform and are now celebrating the double act. But they're celebrating too soon. Hubert and Staller clear up the misunderstanding. Before the two can leave, they find a dead man in a cheap imitation police uniform at the bottom of the basement stairs: the stripper Stefan Meyer. According to pathologist Dr. Anja Licht, he was clearly pushed and fatally injured. The three friends claim they never saw the stylish stripper. And the house's owner and husband, Peter Sendele, was also allegedly at the theater the entire evening. While Hubert and Staller try to figure out which of the four is lying, Sonja Wirth investigates several reports. Upset callers report being harassed by a drone that filmed them flying around their homes while they showered or dressed. When one of the women also reports a burglary, a completely different thought suddenly arises: Was the drone pilot not spying on women at all, but on their homes to locate loot? When Martin Riedl tries to warn the other women that their homes are at risk of burglary, he is surprised. Caro Sendele, of all people, had also reported a drone. Are the two cases more related than previously thought?
Episode 14
47 mins
Police Commissioner Girwidz actually just wanted to do something for his health, but instead, on his first morning jog, he discovers a female corpse. Initial investigations reveal that the young woman had been poisoned and must have had a date with a certain Manni shortly before her death. The search for Manni, however, remains unsuccessful - until dog hair and treats are discovered on the dead woman. This prompts Hubert and Staller to think that Manni could be a Chihuahua the victim had been walking. And since the young woman didn't own a dog herself, the dog's owner was likely the last person to see the dead woman alive. Hubert and Staller launch a large-scale search for the white Chihuahua, which leads them to the Strickler family. The couple recently divorced, and their son Max and Chihuahua Manni have moved out with their mother. And indeed, the dead woman had worked as a dog sitter for Mrs. Strickler. But Hubert and Staller struggle to find a motive for the crime in the broken family. Was Mrs. Strickler jealous of the dog sitter for some reason? Was her son infatuated with the dead woman? Or is Mr. Strickler behind the crime, still accusing his wife of destroying the family with an affair? Unable to make any progress, Hubert and Staller first try to clarify how the perpetrator could have poisoned his unsuspecting victim in the first place. Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht has since found traces of antifreeze in the dead woman's stomach. During the investigation, Staller himself finds himself in acute danger.
Episode 15
48 mins
Police Commissioner Girwidz hopes to please the staff by inviting them to a Neapolitan song recital. The joy doesn't last long, however, because in the middle of an atmospheric aria, a shot is fired, and Girwidz falls to the ground. While he considers himself doomed, his injury turns out to be relatively minor. But was the failed attack actually aimed at the police commissioner? The new cultural officer, Volker Lukowski, and his assistant, Tanja Holdmeier, are also potential suspects. Hubert and Staller are counting on singer Manolito to be the key figure in convicting the perpetrator. After all, he was the only one with a clear view of the shooter from the stage. After receiving the OK from his manager, Markus Köhler, the artist is housed at the station as a precautionary measure to assist the police investigation. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller uncover irregularities in Wolfratshausen's cultural scene: former cultural officer, Frank Stübinger, apparently had to resign from his position due to a bribery scandal. According to his estranged wife, Ramona, the suspect has been in Canada for weeks. Despite intensive efforts, Staller is unable to refute the alibi. Based on the analysis of forensic expert Dr. Anja Licht, Riedl begins searching for the murder weapon. In doing so, he unknowingly gets closer to the perpetrator than he would like. Hubert and Staller are frustrated to realize that singer Manolito's greatest talent is certainly not facial recognition. Staller therefore develops a daring plan that involves luring the assassin directly into the arms of the police with the help of local journalist Benkert. But luckily, there's Sonja Wirth, who puts two and two together at the crucial moment.
Episode 16
47 mins
Girwidz is summoned to City Hall by the mayor, along with Hubert and Staller. The police commissioner, however, isn't told the reason. Just as the police officers arrive, the mayor falls out of the second-story office window right in front of them. An accident, suicide, or murder? Hubert is the only one who notices movement and runs upstairs. The office appears empty, but when he steps to the window, he himself is pushed into the depths. When Hubert wakes up in the hospital, strange events begin to occur. Anja Licht is overjoyed that her ex-husband has finally woken up. But he's not interested in these sentimentalities; he's only interested in whether the perpetrator has been caught. Arriving at the station on shaky legs, Hubert is shocked to realize that the ground is being pulled out from under him: Sonja Wirth has taken over Girwidz's job as chief. Hubert is shocked to realize that he was in a coma for five years and that a lot has changed since then. The case, in which he himself nearly died, was long since filed away. While Staller, in his report, assumed it was an unfortunate accident, the mayor's death is recorded as a suicide. In other words: A murderer has been on the loose in Wolfratshausen for five years, one who almost killed Hubert himself. And apparently, Hubert is now on his own in his investigation, as Staller has since given up his job and apparently found happiness in his private life. But Hubert is undeterred and reopens the old case, in which Girwidz also plays a crucial role. Girwidz has since entered politics.
