Episode 1
45 mins
During an early morning traffic check, Hubert and Staller hope to catch a drunk driver with residual alcohol from the previous evening. But the only driver for miles around doesn't think to stop when Staller raises his stop sign. The car speeds around the next bend without braking and rolls over. Driver Achim Weiß has no chance. Paramedics Johann Kessler and his colleague Wolfgang Hübner can only confirm the man's death. Particularly tragic: The paramedics know the victim as a doctor from the local hospital. Hubert and Staller learn from pathologist Dr. Anja Licht that Weiß was completely sober and that numerous organs had already been removed from him because he had an organ donor card. Shortly thereafter, Janina Kaiser, paramedic Kessler's partner, is taken to the operating room for a life-saving organ transplant. Hubert and Staller initially consider it a fateful coincidence, demonstrating how close life and death can be. But when chief physician Karl Ranzinger openly expresses his surprise that his colleague who had the accident was supposed to have had an organ donor card, Staller begins to doubt that this was merely an accident. When Yazid concludes during his examination of the wrecked car that someone had probably tampered with the vehicle's electronics, Staller is certain: Kessler arranged the accident - the only question is how. Hubert, however, has a different theory. Since the injured man was considered a candidate for the position of chief physician, it seems obvious to him that Ranzinger tampered with the car. The fact that Ranzinger is also the new partner of his ex-wife Anja is, of course, completely irrelevant.

Hubert and Staller are sent by Police Commissioner Girwidz on a special mission to the school camp. They are to teach a fourth-grade class proper road manners. When the children's discipline begins to falter, student Justin Leon is dispatched to fetch the supervising teachers. But teacher Wilhelm Beck is found dead in his room, and there is no trace of the teacher Katja Sommer. The investigation by forensic pathologist Dr. Anja Licht reveals that the teacher was poisoned. Does Horst Neidhardt, the gruff director of the school camp, know more than he's letting on? What's the truth behind Staller's theory that every murderer starts small? Could a fourth-grader therefore also be a possible perpetrator, or does Katja Sommer have her colleague's death on her conscience? However, the teacher cannot provide an answer to this question for the time being, as she is found unconscious near the school camp. Through the bright ten-year-old Frieda, Hubert and Staller learn that the two teachers probably had more in common than a shared interest in education. Did Katja Sommer want to end her affair with Wilhelm Beck, and did this lead to a fatal argument? Björn Sommer, the teacher's husband, may also have been involved in the poisoning. When Katja Sommer regains consciousness in the hospital, the case is far from solved. Hubert and Staller need a plan and a little childlike support.

Hubert and Staller were actually just planning to take a break at Sabrina Rattlinger's after catching a stray dog. But as Staller enjoys biting into his roll, the next case is already on the table: a baked-on finger indicates a gruesome accident. Before Hubert and Staller investigate the alleged baking mishap, they want to get rid of the dog first. Staller's informant Yazid has now set up his new business in the premises of the former animal shelter. Since Yazid's shop has the promising name "I do everything," he gratefully accepts Staller's contract to combat the dog plague raging in the district. Police Commissioner Girwidz sees this as a much bigger problem than a lost finger. But Hubert and Staller want to be sure they're dealing with a baking accident and not a crime. Staller personally checks the staff at the "Rattlinger" bakery to ensure their fingers are intact. No fingers are missing, and no one else has reported missing a body part. So the two investigators have no choice but to trace the path of the roll, and thus the finger. This leads them to Rolf Schorf's mill. Together with his wife Karin and the newly qualified young miller Alina Bayer, Schorf is responsible for producing the flour Sabrina uses to bake her rolls. When signs mount that a former apprentice at the mill has disappeared, Hubert and Staller suspect that they are probably not dealing with an industrial accident.
Episode 4

The police chief insists that his officers complete the mandatory four hours of on-duty exercise per month. To fulfill this wish, Police Commissioner Girwidz goes Nordic walking in the woods with his entire team, but this is met with very little enthusiasm. It's almost a stroke of luck when Sonja Wirth discovers a body in the undergrowth just a few meters away. The deceased was the operator of a casino and had been beaten to death, as Dr. Anja Licht soon discovers. Hubert and Staller immediately head to the casino. While Hubert indeed discovers traces of blood, gambling addict Joseph Amstetter explains to Staller how the slot machines work. Shortly thereafter, Staller hits the jackpot and feels magically drawn to the machines from then on. And with his luck at gambling, things seem to be going much better for the flirtatious officer in his love life as well. The operator of the second casino in town, in particular, makes ambiguous allusions when Hubert and Staller question her. It is not easy to find out whether protection racketeers or even the betting mafia are behind the murder.
Episode 5

Architect Florian Rössler observes three unknown individuals breaking into his neighbor's villa at night and alerts the police. Hubert and Staller arrive on the scene shortly thereafter. With a loud and clumsy entrance, Staller not only chases off the burglars but also damages a house wall. In the process, Hubert and Staller make a gruesome discovery: a woman's skeleton is hidden in the wall. Since the owner of the house is nowhere to be found and the dead woman cannot be identified, Hubert and Staller are left with only a few items left behind by the burglars to search for clues. These items indicate that a spiritual séance was supposed to be held in the villa, a procedure that is usually used to attempt to contact the dead. The question of whether there is a connection between this sance and the discovered body remains a mystery to Hubert and Staller. Hiding Places in the Villa Martin Riedl and Sonja Wirth are then assigned to search the villa for further cavities, while Hubert and Staller seek help from the "Medium of Miesbach," an expert in conversations with the afterlife. Hubert sees the medium as nothing more than a fraud, while Staller is fascinated by the idea of being able to communicate with the dead, if only for professional reasons. When it turns out that the burglars had previously also visited the "Medium of Miesbach," Staller suggests holding a public séance to attract them. The two hire Yazid to appear as a famous medium. Student Inés Vogl shows up at the event, and Hubert and Staller immediately find her suspicious. Meanwhile, Riedl manages to overpower a man in the villa who identifies himself as Lothar Graf, the wanted owner of the villa.
Episode 6

When the spry pensioner Rita Rauwald reports a broken window in the multi-purpose hall, Hubert and Staller stumble upon a bizarre scenario: In the rehearsal room of the local brass band, Peter Händel, with his skull shattered, is stuck headfirst in the bell of a tuba. Forensic pathologist Dr. Anja Licht identifies a trumpet left behind at the crime scene as the murder weapon. Although Christine Händel, the young widow of the murdered man, claims to have had a happy relationship, Hubert and Staller consider her one of the prime suspects. But Police Commissioner Girwidz, of all people, is able to provide the widow, a dentist by profession, with a foolproof alibi: He was under her care at the time of the crime. Further investigations focus on the members of the brass band. Conductor Franz Dizinger may be reluctant to reveal his identity, but there certainly seem to have been tensions that went beyond differences in musical opinion. Trombonist and village priest Michael Engel quickly finds himself on the list of suspects. Investigations are also underway on another front: Police Chief Riedl is ordered to question all customers of Peter Händel, who earned his living as an independent beverage supplier, for any relevant information. When Hubert and Staller discover that bandmate and trumpeter Wolfgang Graffel works in the same line of work, the net seems to be closing in around the murderer.
Episode 7
45 mins
A theft from a newspaper box - Hubert and Staller don't really want to bother with such trivial matters anymore. But since it's Johanna Girwidz, the daughter of the police commissioner, who was there to get some free reading material, they move in. The fact that architect Winter lies slain in the window of his architectural office right next to the "Tatort" (crime scene) suits everyone involved, except for the enraged newspaper vendor: Hubert and Staller have a new case, and free reader Johanna Girwidz takes advantage of the general excitement to escape. Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht determines that the victim was slain with one of his model houses. The perpetrator left no trace; the only clue is an "8" that the dying man smeared on the window in his own blood. The bloody writing at the crime scene helps Hubert and Staller, as does the interrogation of Maria Gerber, the partner of the murdered architect. Even though their relationship wasn't all that good, Hubert and Staller don't see a motive for the murder. This leaves the only suspect, Sabine Winter, the victim's sister. The siblings shared one million euros inherited from their recently deceased father. There was one small difference, however: The murdered man was the guardian managing the money for his sister, who is currently in the secure ward of a mental hospital. After their first visit, Hubert and Staller are already certain that their sister is rightfully in the clinic run by Dr. Möller. However, they are unable to judge whether she is crazy enough to have her own brother killed so she can also get her share of the inheritance, or whether she is just faking it. Hubert and Staller decide, with the help of Dr. Anja Licht, to infiltrate their colleague Sonja Wirth into the clinic as an undercover investigator.
Episode 8

As Hubert and Staller investigate a supposedly sawed-off tree stand, they notice a woman who appears to be resting on a bench nearby. 80-year-old Anna Szczypiorski sits on the bench, her upper body leaning forward and surrounded by crumbs of crumble cake. But the woman cannot enjoy the view. She is blind and, above all, dead. Police Sergeant Staller is certain that this was neither a natural death nor an accident. The pathological findings show that someone must have stuffed dry crumble cake into the elderly woman's mouth until she choked to death. Elfriede Kretschmar and Lieselotte Meier, with whom the deceased shared an apartment - one deaf, the other blind - are initially unable to contribute anything to solving the case. Hubert and Staller attempt to identify the murderer based on the origin of the crumble cake. But the investigation is not only dominated by a shared apartment for the elderly and a cake. Waldemar Szczypiorski, the deceased's only living relative, a newspaper article, and an unclaimed lottery ticket also play central roles. Elfriede Kretschmar has long been convinced that her roommate had to die because she had picked the correct lottery numbers.
Episode 9

Hubert and Staller are hunting a purse thief on the lakeshore. During the chase, they find a motorboat that has driven onto the shore and make a horrific discovery. A dead man is lying in the boat, apparently crushed by a package of cocaine weighing several kilograms. Given the force of the impact, pathologist Dr. Anja Licht quickly determines that the drug must have been dropped from an airplane over the lake, killing the man. However, the dead man's equipment reveals that the package didn't hit an innocent person. A tracking device in the corpse's hands and a transmitter on the package indicate that the man had deliberately driven onto the lake at night to intercept the drugs. While Police Commissioner Girwidz fears conditions like those in Miami, Yazid is tasked with repairing the defective tracking device to ensure that no further drug packages are floating in the lake. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller search for possible masterminds. It quickly becomes clear to the two that the dead man, who had worked at the Fleischmann butcher's shop, certainly didn't run his criminal side business alone. After a brief conversation with a district office official who was never short of excuses, it becomes clear that not everything was above board when the boat license was issued. And what role does the butcher Josephine Fleischmann play in the case? The attractive woman appears as shocked as she is clueless - and to make matters worse, she has her eye on Hubert. His attention, however, is turned to the suspect Fred Holzinger. The sleazy music producer is not only a regular customer of the Fleischmann butcher's shop, but also sold the dead man the boat at a special price.

Hubert and Staller deliver several crates of Prosecco to their friend Sabrina Rattlinger as a favor, as she is to host a buffet for an art opening at the home of the successful sculptor and painter Nobo Grün. Shortly after the two arrive on the property, they hear a bloodcurdling scream. Grün is found beaten to death. The macabre murder weapon: a sculpture by the artist, lying on the floor next to him. Right at the beginning of their investigation, Hubert and Staller learn from the victim's art dealers, the married couple Marco and Maria Zoller, that a very valuable sculpture by the deceased has disappeared without a trace. At first, everything points to a robbery-murder. Station chief Girwidz is also convinced of this, and so the search for clues is continued in this direction. During the investigation, Staller develops a liking for art, revealing a whole new side of his personality. Hubert, however, is rather irritated by this. Following tips from the art scene, they interrogate the eccentric painter Max Verrer. The murder victim's former and unsuccessful classmate makes no secret of his contempt for his more successful colleague. He expresses almost satisfaction at his untimely death. But is he really capable of committing such a cold-blooded crime? The Zoller couple's increasingly ambiguous behavior also adds a strange element to the whole affair. A nighttime visit to the victim's property puts them on an interesting trail.

Scrapyard operator Manfred Matuschik is annoyed: thieves have apparently once again gained access to his scrap metal. As Hubert and Staller inspect the supposed entry hole in the fence, red liquid drips from a vehicle that has just emerged from the scrap press. Staller's initial suspicion is confirmed by forensic pathologist Dr. Anja Licht: it is human blood. It quickly becomes clear that the naive crane operator Mick Wiesinger had nothing to do with the gruesome discovery. Yazid, the jack of all trades, advises Hubert and Staller to take a closer look at Maximilian Bofinger. Maximilian, who is in a relationship with Johanna, the daughter of station manager Girwidz, doesn't seem to be exactly an innocent lamb, according to Yazid. The police sergeants take the young man under their wing and learn that he was at the scrapyard on the night of the crime. He fled the premises as a car slowly approached. Maximilian is able to identify the vehicle from the surveillance camera footage, and the owner is quickly identified. The owner is Sebastian Weiß, whose house Hubert and Staller immediately visit. When Mrs. Weiß explains that she was about to report her husband missing, the two suspect that the dead man must be Weiß - a suspicion that a DNA test soon confirms. While searching the house, Hubert and Staller notice that one room is strangely locked. According to Nicole Weiß, her husband wanted to surprise them with its design. The two investigators break the lock and find a fully furnished children's room. The widow is stunned, as she is not expecting a child herself. When evidence is found in the house safe that the deceased has a child from a previous relationship, everything points to a family drama.
Episode 14

Boat rental owner Hans Ranftl is embroiled in a heated argument with a young family who accuse him of stalling his pedal boat. Hubert and Staller are called to the lake to mediate. While Staller finds a bathrobe belt tangled in the pedals of the pedal boat, Hubert discovers the matching bathrobe on a corpse sitting in a wheelchair on the lakebed. It quickly becomes clear that this is no tragic accidental death. The deceased is Fabian Pfeifer, who was by no means wheelchair-dependent during his lifetime. This can be confirmed not only by his police colleague Sonja Wirth, but also by her best friend Amelie Wagner, who lived with the murder victim. Hubert and Staller discover that Pfeifer enjoyed moving in prominent circles when they see numerous photos showing him in the company of the well-known pop singer Andrea Manninger. When local reporter Barbara Hansen is finally offered photos from an anonymous source that appear to document the crime, the investigation focuses on the local paparazzi scene. Does the shady photographer Luggi Moser have anything to do with the young man's death? And what role does Peter Manninger, the pop singer's husband, play? Hubert and Staller quickly realize that, once again, not everything is as it seems at first glance.
Episode 15

The only complaint is that the "Omm" coming from the "Boll Coaching" seminar center by the lake is too loud. When Staller, accompanied by his young colleague Riedl, tries to calm things down, the blissful "Omm" is interrupted by a piercing scream: personality coach Engelbert Gerber has collapsed and died. But that's not all the surprises. Staller's superior, Girwidz, who was supposed to be attending a police training course, is also among the seminar participants. It quickly becomes clear that Gerber had a serious heart condition and died because he didn't take his vital medication. This, however, seems inexplicable to all the course participants. Did someone perhaps slip him a placebo? Now anyone from the coaching center could be the murderer, which is why one of the police officers has to be infiltrated undercover. But since Staller, Riedl, and Girwidz are already known there, only Hubert comes into question, although he abhors such group events. Under the alias "Alois Trenker," he stumbles straight into a family constellation. He soon learns that the deceased was heavily in debt and, on top of that, had impregnated a seminar participant. But that hasn't stopped him from showing his affection to other women during his training. Now there are almost as many motives as participants, but only one murderer-or two? Thanks to state-of-the-art surveillance technology and Hubert's reluctant but very convincing performance as a coaching participant, they finally manage to catch the perpetrator red-handed.

Open day at the Wolfratshausen police station. Hubert and Staller are entrusted by Police Commissioner Girwidz with the important task of obtaining change for the sausage stand at the local bank. When two masked bank robbers storm the branch, Hubert suddenly finds himself in the middle of a bank robbery. Staller is oblivious. He lets the attractive Betty explain the advantages of a checking account to him in an adjoining room. Before the money falls into the hands of the robbers, branch manager Wimmer manages to smuggle a paint bomb into the money bag. Unfortunately, the impatient Hubert detonates the bomb before the crooks can flee in their getaway car. Enraged, the aggressive Klett and his naive accomplice Lederle return to the branch and promptly take the entire staff and Hubert hostage. Klett develops a perfidious plan: Branch manager Wimmer is to pay the two robbers a hefty compensation using his personal assets, which he keeps in a safe at home. Meanwhile, at the station, people begin to wonder where the two colleagues are. Girwidz dispatches police officer Riedl. Staller, too, has now realized the precarious situation and wants to escape the building with Betty. But he is confronted by the robbers. They give him half an hour to retrieve the money from the bank manager's safe. Klett strongly advises him not to contact his police colleagues at the station. Hubert, however, is so overwhelmed by the situation that he secretly asks his ex-wife, Dr. Anja Licht, for support. Meanwhile, at the branch, Staller is testing the nerves of both the hostage-takers and the hostages. When colleague Riedl knocks on the door of the barricaded bank branch, the situation threatens to escalate.
