During a visit by the Inspector General, Hogan's men try to prevent the inept Colonel Klink from being transferred to the Russian Front. When their plan works too well and Klink is promoted to a position in Berlin, the POWs must get Klink unpromoted.

Hogan and the Heroes build a single-engine, 2-seater airplane while keeping it a secret from the Germans as well as Col. Crittenden. His plan is to fly defecting Baroness Lily von Schlichter out of Germany. It seems that Crittenden does not want major escape plots, and would report it to the Germans if he found out. Hogan convinces Klink to have a Camp Orchestra. The noise is used as a distraction to rebuilding a plane. When the time comes to fly out, Newkirk, Carter, and Crittenden go to the fence; when Crittenden tries to cut a wire, a fence section falls down. Then the plane, with Baroness Lily and the pilot (a shot-down pilot Hogan is sending back to England) fly off. Klink transfers Crittenden back to STALAG 18.

When a British commando unit is captured before they can blow up a crucial German ammo dump, Hogan and his men attempt to finish the job.

When the Air Force can't knock out an important German bridge, Hogan decides to try to destroy it from the ground, but he's short on explosives. Carter's efforts to manufacture some only destroy some of the tunnels underneath the prison camp, so Hogan decides to steal gunpowder from the German ammunition hut by covering the building with graffiti and then breaking into it while his men repaint it.

Visiting General Von Kaplow arrives in camp with a briefcase chained to his wrist. Hogan then sets up a dinner party with the general as the guest of honor and during the party Newkirk steals the briefcase just long enough for LeBeau to take photos of the contents which are battle plans. Hogan then sets up an elaborate scheme where Klink is tricked into thinking the Germans are losing the war and the allied tanks are just days away from liberating Stalag 13. Also included in the plan are a pair of RAF officers posing as a Luftwaffe film crew who will take the film of the documents out of camp and back to England.

A truck with a mysterious cargo drives into camp. Hogan and his men sneak in and find out that the mysterious cargo is nothing more than a barrel of water. However, they soon find out that the water is actually heavy water to be used in research for the Nazis' atomic research program. Hogan soon comes up with a scheme where he convinces Klink that the water holds mystical properties that may help with the Commandant's baldness. Unfortunately, after Klink is caught taking the water Hogan must come up with another way of getting the barrel before the Germans can use it to manufacture an atomic bomb.

The ploy works and they begin to build it but are actually building a boat with the plan of sailing Michaels out.
