While the bodies pile up, they find out the resident monster is Arachne, an evil queen the gods turned into a giant spider with corrosive venom for jealous infanticide.

Ares's counterpart proves a willing but weak ally for Hercules, who must reopen the portal.

Its leader has actually raised Ruun's sister and grooms her as successor, but pretended she was abandoned as a baby. Hercules mediates, pleads a reconciliation and champion Ruun's case as captives in the Amazon camp.

That sames to play into Ares's hand, but afterward he and all the time abused Strife are viciously targeted by an evil that seems hell-bent on overthrowing all Olympians. Hercules, neutralized by his alternative universe counterpart Sovereign, is trapped with him in an intergalactic limbo, force to duel. Frightened by Strife's death ad the hind's blood Callisto took from Sovereign, Ares only grants Iolaus power to travel after her into time, to contest Hercules's birth.

Hercules is trapped between their universes with Sovereign, who keeps fighting him, vindictive and feeling they stand no chance to escape, so no matter who kills the other and thus makes both worlds collapse. However trough a magical pool, they can watch Iolaus's quest. It fails to prevent Alcmene being killed, before she can give birth to Hercules, by the hordes of XEna, who conquers the world under Ares's protection. Hercules realizes their only hope is to undo that by time travel, if Iolaus realizes that Kronos's magical gem is at hand.

Part 1 of 3. Learning that Alcmene is dying, Hercules and Iolaus rush to her side. In flashback, Young Hercules, Iolaus, and Jason go off to their first war. An ambush kills most of their comrades, and when they reach the supposed safety of a barricaded trench, they find it full of dead soldiers as well. They rescue a wounded opponent, who eventually takes them to confer with his king, resulting in a ceasefire.

Part 2 of 3. As Hercules grieves for Alcmene, Zeus points out that Hercules is now free to become a full god. Hercules considers the good he can do as a god as well as the change in his relationship to his friends. In flashback, Apollo turns Young Hercules into a full god by feeding him ambrosia. But his new abilities and showing off alienate his old friends, while the callous way Apollo treats mortals irritates Young Hercules and he asks Zeus to take away his godhood.
