In the Five-0 offices, Lou kills Omar Hassan's wife Azra,who just shot Jerry. Recovering at a hospital, Jerry considers moving on to other things and leaves the team later. While off duty, Junior and Tani witness a murder-for-hire hit on a Chinese triad leader, but the hit-man escapes. The team keeps finding out military police officer Quinn Liu on their path, also looking for the suspect, reason classified even for Steve. The team tracks a stolen car to a warehouse, but the hit-man avoids arrest by suicide. Adam meets with Yakuza leaders to figure out who is behind the hits, but the hit-man's sharpshooter accomplice attempts to kill Masuda, one of the leaders. Afterwards, Steve asks Quinn to pursue the case further, after no charges are pressed due to lack of evidence. An unknown figure is seen putting a small explosive in Steve's tool box from his late father.

Junior and Tani are inadvertently trapped while trying to save civilians inside a collapsed road tunnel and having a hard time controlling the panicking travelers. McGarrett and his police dog solve the fatal time lack and Steve discovers that the collapse was an intentional plot for notorious methamphetamine dealer Jackson Wilcox, who got a DEA witness deal, to escape, or rather be tricked by his adulterous wife Shayla's surprising lover Mike. Quinn helps Five-0 discover that the military prisoners van Wilcox was transported in was actually used by the FBI to bring Wilcox from a safe house to treat his cancer. After a bomb is discovered in his home, McGarrett calls the bomb squad to investigate, but they don't get any clues of who could have planted it.

Professional diver Jay Kahale's corpse was discovered inside the wreckage of downed airliner flight 912 from 1983. The team must seriously look into conspiracy theories about the crash online. Lou and Tani lean on Tim Pollock, a notorious founder of such websites, who points to someone hiding behind a username to fuel conspiracies about the crash and is considered to have published about 80% of it. Quinn is arrested by military police for money-laundering after Steve offered her to join Five-0. After McGarrett confronts Cullen, he latter is killed entering his house having bragged Steve has no idea what he's up against.

Halloween in Hawaii has Five-0 working on the murder of elderly Edith Lahela during an attempted robbery gone wrong and the discovery of the body of a disappearance victim, Lana Nakua. Team Adam discovers that Edith Lahela was a nun for over 20 years and had raised a boy, long seeming her son, actually Kimo, adopted son of Mother Superior Decosta, whom she locked in a tiny cell in her basement to protect him from the outside world because of his gross deformity. With the help of Max Bergman, who visit from Madagascar (Africa) with his adopted pre-teen son Tunde, they get Kimo to stand down with also bringing Decosta to convince him. Steve and Junior discover that someone stole Lana Nakua's body from the morgue, and later find two of the original suspects in her case, frat boys Todd Hughes and Remy Mitchell, murdered in their homes with Nakua's initials written in blood near them. As third suspect Zach Wyatt has not been found murdered, he probably orchestrated the theft of Lana's body, and is in urgent danger too.

Tani and Quinn investigate the murder of an elderly woman in her apartment, where she made enemies of all neighbors, hence suspects. Media influencers Scooter and Skeez are allowed to ride along in the process of making an HPD recruitment video. Though kept on a short leash, for fear they could compromise the investigation, they observant pair proves valuable assistance and their recruitment video is later a success.

Despite his promise to wait for instructions, after two months Junior goes to Mexico, tracing Steve using satellite and security cameras to assist him. After infiltrating a drug cartel storage facility, Steve and Junior find Doris, but before he can talk her into coming with them, Steve is shot and Doris is fatally stabbed by the cartel leader, whom Doris had set up successfully on deep-cover mission for the U.S. government.

At Thanksgiving Five-0 investigates the murder of philanthropist George Parks, seemingly killed as witness to a robbery on his own property, where only a huge, rare, millions-worth koa tree was stolen. Upon arriving at the suspected gardener's address, the team finds the robbers killed but the wood remains there, except when piece containing a large cavity. George's family is associated with a German backpacker's suspicious disappearance years ago, which proves the homicidal key with a noble twist. Junior and Tani investigate a robbery at his parent's house, and discover that the robber stole a hidden 'treausre box', including his estranged father Natano's Purple Heart medal. Junior suspects his childhood best friend and informal foster brother Owen Ocampo, now a junkie, who confesses, but didn't pawn the Purple Heart, not forgetting his friendship with Junior. He later accepts Junior's ultimatum-offer to go to rehab instead of prosecution. Reconciled, Junior invites his parents to the Thanksgiving celebrations at McGarrett's house, where Danny has moved in on account of another mold problem.

Five-0 must link three murders of a chef, a tourist tour boat captain and a photographer who only met recently, without apparent reason. Adam and Masuda-San both work to save Tamiko, who has been kidnapped by the Filippino mob. Though Tamiko returns safely, her father is shot and dies en route for treatment, having agreed to sacrifice his Yakuza position for his daughter. Adam confronts Kenji, who just threatens to reveal Adam's role which would ruin his Five-0 career. Despite Adam's pleas, Kenji then murders the Filipino gang member Adam had abducted and brought to Masuda, who tortured him. Horrified by the cold-blooded execution, Adam agrees to see Steve at the office straightaway, ignoring Duke had learned that Adam had attacked the Filipino gang and abducted one of them, and informed Steve.

After the Fililippino-Yakuza murders, Adam is confronted at the Five-0 HQ by Steve and Duke about his involvement in the robbery of the Filipino gang. but rather hands in his badge and gun, refusing to confide the truth in angrily-puzzled Steve. The pilot, company founder Jordan Notua, had turned off the helicopter's transponder over a no-fly zone for the Hawaii state bird. They learn it's Daiyu Mei, unknowingly to them that she is Wo Fat's Chinese mob widow, who continues his arms trade. Making another weapons sale, she turns on the buyers, shoots most and promises the survivor to call an ambulance for him, provided he passes on to McGarrett that she is Wo Fat's wife.

When the suspect gets away, the task force runs into PIs Thomas Magnum (also ex-SEAL) and his partner, Higgins (ex-MI 6), who were looking for the same suspect for a potential divorce client they are looking after. Steve's initial reluctance to working together to try to find the man and stolen list withers as Thomas shows his 'good old-fashioned detective' tricks and calls on his helpful buddies, both military McGarrett-fans. Tani reaches out to Adam concerning his well-being only for Adam to flee Hawaii and finally asks Junior out on a date.

They stumble upon golf - and identity fraud, smuggling and counterfeit money.

After Eddie act down and wanders into traffic, Steve takes him to the vet, who concludes the dog suffers from PTSD after having supposedly experienced some kind of traumatic event in his life, which a military doctor further confirms. Digging into Eddie's past service record with Marines who served in Afghanistan, Steve, Quinn and Tani learn that Eddie had watched his original handler getting killed by a bomb and a sort of purple wild flowers triggers him. At a local bar, Danny falls for a woman he has few things in common with. On the way home, an oncoming car almost collides with them, but they crash in the ditch after Danny tries swerving out of the way. The unnamed, critically injured woman loses much blood. Danny tends to her wounds and tries to get the attention of passerby. By the time a rescue team arrives, she dies in his arms. Adam quietly returns to Hawaii.

Tani stands in as an instructor at the HPD academy and promises Grover to check on recruit Siobhan, his niece, who after shooting practice confides into Tani that she thinks her near-boyfriend, fellow recruit Endo Tanaka, may 'cheat' on her as he hides a second cellphone. The sister of Joanne, the flame he couldn't save after their car accident, reassures apologetic Danny she doesn't blame him as he did everything he could. Spying alone around Endo's house, Siobhan overhears Endo speaking to his Yakuza liaison, but gets caught and kidnapped to a jungle shack. Five-0 investigate and have HPD intercept Endo, who was told by Kenji Higashi to continue his day as normal. They doubt Endo's story about Siobhan supposedly committed suicide. Morally cornered, Adam risks everything by demanding to exchange Endo for Siobhan with the Yakuza, without coming clean to Steve, who trust him, unlike Grover. A bloody shootout is inevitable.

On Valentine's Day Five-0 is asked by the State Department to discretely handle the fatal stabbing of Thai diplomat Prin Khomsiri. His US wife Lorena Massey confesses to the murder and is arrested. Danny convincingly doubts that she actually committed the murder, it being at odds with his prior experience with domestic abuse cases, presuming she's covering for someone. That's her lover, Dr. Paulson, who has a solid alibi, so she recants. Documents from the State Department reveal that Lorena's citizenship has been revoked, which she declares faked, hence she's due to be sent to Thailand for a murder trial. Five-0 remaining convinced that Lorena didn't kill her husband, Danny brings her to a safe house owned by Kamekona, but the State Department gets to them and has him and Lorena arrested. Steve now needs his diplomatic skills. Shopping, Noelani and Tani are taken hostage at a convenience store when a Bonnie and Clyde couple attempt a robbery, but the man collapses having a seizure, Noelani assist medically and Tani ultimately convinces his partner to surrender for him to getting indispensable hospital treatment.

Five-0 investigates several murders in the order and MOs of an unpublished manuscript for the last Deerdie Naismith novel by Maureen Townsend. Five-0 is assisted by academic Maureen Townsend expert Suzane Ridge, who acquired the manuscript from the family and plans to present at at a conference at its centennial, waving a warning to postpone. After inspecting a pen owned by Ridge, McGarrett finds a tracker inside it and the team digs into an event in Minneapolis where Ridge got the pen from Maureen Townsend fan, Colin Hansen, who turns out the third victim, and McGarrett and Danny save Ridge from becoming the fourth victim submerged in her hotel bathtub. Junior returns from his duty abroad and goes all the way with Tani. They assist Harry Langford, who earned a fortune writing a spy novel, after his public actor Michael Blanton, mistaken for his author alter-ego Gabe, is kidnapped. The kidnappers demand to transfer Langdon's 10 million dollars to their account in the Cayman Islands. They are tracked down and the money changes hands thrice. Adam expresses worry to Kenji after Endo and Haru go missing. Kenji just replies that they were both sent on a plane back to Japan. While Adam discovers that Kenji had both killed, masked henchmen prepare to enter his apartment complex.

Adam shoots Kenji's henchmen entering his apartment and tells Lou, who arrives with a SWAT team soon, that his key evidence can bring the Hawaiian faction of the Yakuza to justice. Junior helps them to arrest Kenji as Enzo's murderer and more. Rick Wright assists Five-0 investigating the murder of a captain on board a cargo ship by boarding pirates posing as Coast Guard. At the pirates' base of operations, they find them killed by an unknown substance disguised as heroin. In Maui, Dr. Noelani Cunha contacts Quinn when she suspects her ex-co turned reverend uncle Akumu did not die of a heart attack, having found a rash on one of his arms suggesting carbon dioxide poisoning. Indeed, Eke Mohoe had asked the coroner to report that Noelani's uncle died of a heart attack to not bring shame to the kids Akumu helped out from gangs, but one kid says that Councilman Mikala was behind it all, and Noelani deduces that he eliminate her uncle as a threat to his illegal dealings.

They work out their robbers' strategy, with a bribed mole tagging the cars, but are puzzled as the loot was allegedly Greg's wife Cynthia Dean's ring after they find her in the woods nearby. Greg Dean was protecting with his life a suitcase, which they find it in their perpetrators' house. A ruthless Samoan gang is after it and they have Cynthia. Tani helps reformed gentleman fence Gerard Hirsch whose uncle and second father, who is moving in with decaying health, apparently didn't just steal a snuff box but committed a murder for it. To prove his uncle innocent, Hirsch almost gives in when his uncle's friend-friend, who dealt with pawn-fencing, reveals that he knew that Tabitha May's housekeeper was shot in the eye, which only the police and killer would know. McGarrett receives a call informing him his spy mother Doris hired an English lawyer to hand-deliver a package to him four months after her death.
