Steve is puzzled that Wo Fat needed him to come to prevent him being killed by heavily armed thugs overpowering the prison guards, but succeeds. He must rush with Danny to the police HQ, where Chin hides while Latino terrorist destroy the operations room computer after copying certain files, successfully taking hostages, including the duo, after which Liberation movement leader El Condor fatally shoots his already kinsman Ricardo Cosi, whom Steve captured as sole survivor at the prison, then stun everyone by inviting Steve to arrest the while gang. New Honolulu PD captain Lou Grover gets a terrible first impression of Five-O when Steve stops the convicts transport and liberates the Condor's gang, blackmailed for Catherine's life, counting on Chin to tail the fiends, who have a stolen helicopter ready. Police IT expert Adam 'Toast' Charles meanwhile recovers the raided software, which requires an urgent overseas alert. Wo Fat's promised but inconclusive answer inspires Steve to resort to an informal DNA test confirming his theory about Doris's secret.

The team investigates the murder of a limo driver. They learn he picked up someone named Smith from Texas who just arrived. They learn that the man grabbed another guy. They later find him just as he had his gun on a kid. Steve arrests him and finds out that he is looking for his daughter whom he thought went to Hawaii with her friend but actually went with the kid. The kid then tells them that he was hired to deliver some money and he was asked to bring a girl with him so he won't look suspicious but when they arrived they were robbed. So the people who hired him want the money and are holding the girl till he brings it. Steve agrees to work with the Texan.

Chin introduces Steve to his conspiracy theories-obsessed cousin Jerry Ortega, who proves quite knowledgeable, just what they need to trail a ruthless international gang after a Medici treasure in unlikely packaging. Steve is even less amused by the small fortune Max paid on eBay for the exclusive present he got for Catherine's navy exit then Danny's insistence working for her handsome ex Billy Harrington, also former Navy, is a recipe for accidental infidelity or worse.

Meanwhile Danny worries about his Gabrielle disrupting doting daughter Grace's stability if she accepts temporary jobs out of state, while insisting that Steve is setting himself up for trouble with Catherine by agreeing to her joining fellow Navy veteran Billy Harrington's security firm. Adam and Kono find that they're not safe in Hong Kong, either.

Catherine and Billy are on a job, following a man to find out if he's seeing another woman. They catch him with her but suddenly someone shoots the man. Catherine and Billy get out and shoot at the shooter, the shooter shoots them both. Billy is in serious condition. Steve upon learning of this goes to the hospital and sees Catherine and she asks how's Billy? Steve tells her he died. She wants to find the one who killed him. So they go back to where it happened. But they find no sign of a shooting. Catherine sees that the place has been cleaned up. They find the woman who tells them she's someone he saw occasionally. They look at his computer and find out he's an industrial spy. So they talk to the man whom he works for and learns he had the place cleaned up to avoid being connected to the incident. But he denies having him killed. So they try to find out who wanted him dead. Steve asks Joe White to find his mother. And Adam decides to turn himself over to the ones pursuing him to get Kono out of danger.

Max and Sabrina are watching an outdoor movie when a man turns up seeming incoherent, then starts attacking people. A cop tries to control the man, who goes wild and the cop shoots him. Steve and Danny arrive and Max thinks the guy is a zombie. At the morgue, Max collapses, and they learn that the man was drugged and the drugs turned into a gas that infected Max. They learn that the man worked at hospital and went there before he was found and took something out of the morgue; they learn that he took the head off a corpse. They learn the head was that of a girl who went missing a year ago and resurfaced with no memory of what happened to her. They learn of a guy who was trying to contact her who has been lying low was also abducted two years ago. They see that someone did experiments on him and the girl, and try to find the person who did this. Catherine, still reeling from Billy's death, decides to help find Adam.

A surfer is stabbed so Steve goes to investigate. Chin says he knows the guy; he's a guy who tried to be a cop but was kicked out of the police academy for an infraction. But an ATF man shows claiming that he's one of his agents. That getting kicked out of the academy is part of his cover. He was working on a gun dealer. So they wonder if the dealer found out who he is but the dealer appears to have no idea he was an agent. They learn that someone has been ripping off the dealer and it appears they were operating with information that the agent was providing the ATF which leads Danny to suspect he was dirty. Steve tries to keep an open mind. Steve's sister shows up and has a baby. And when she gets sick she asks Steve to take care of her which makes working the case tough. Catherine continues to try and find Adam.

McGarrett is called by the Governor. He arrives to see that Grover is complaining about him to the Governor. The Governor tells them to try and work it out between themselves. So he sends them out to bring in a guy who has a lot of unpaid parking tickets. When they get there, there are some men with the guy and they have guns. They start shooting at them and get away. They learn that the guy they were sent to get is a computer genius. And that they may have robbed a bank.

Steve and Mary are not having an easy time preparing for Thanksgiving, but their aunt who took care of them after their mother left shows up to spend the holiday with them. Steve then gets a call that a body was found in a drum of lye. It's hard for the body to be identified but they do; he's a Secret Service agent. Steve goes to his supervisor and tells him his agent is dead. He tells Steve the President is coming. When they identify the man who could have killed the agent and learn he's a professional assassin and that he could be there to get the President. They inform the agent who tells them that the President is coming so they must find the assassin.

After attending the annual Pearl Harbor memorial with Steve, Chin is just in time to stop Korean War veteran David Toriyama aiming an old, unreliable service gun at grumpy, wheelchair-stuck Pearl Harbor veteran Ezra Clark, whom he accuses of shooting his elder brother Kenji Toriyama, in uniform, to steal the family katana (samurai swords) while David, the pre-teen, and his parents James and Martha were interned merely for being of Japanese ancestry at an inhumane internment camp on Oahu. Steve respects both veterans enough to give each credit and promises to solve the old case the police always dismissed. With David under house arrest, the team examines the camp sites, records, survivors and comes up with an alternative theft, homicide and cover up plot.

They think he could be a burglar so they try to ask around who he is, and when they find out, they go to his place and find a man trying to break in, and they learn that he and the burglar are partners and they think they had a dispute and the burglar killed him, but he says he didn't. So they think he was killed while doing his latest job, so on info the partner gave them they try to find out where he was. Later an FBI agent shows up and says the way that the burglar was killed is similar to the M.O. of a serial killer. So they assume that the burglar broke into the killer's home and he killed him. But while checking out a place, Chin discovers something and is knocked out.

Danny is charmed to meet a foxy New Yorker, but sees her expertly shot from a distance. In Seattle, Kono finally finds Adam and convinces him it's safe to return home as his Yakuza enemies are eliminated.

Attempts to solve the case kept failing, but Chin is blamed for several unprofessional decisions and suspected of complicity or even murder. Returning to Hawai, Gabriel, once a drop-out loser desperate to join a local gang, took a child hostage to force a widow to clean up her murdered drug accomplice husband's safe deposit box, but Five-O was on his tail.

The plan is to force crown witness Kamekona, a construction worker, he lied under oath, but he's absent from the construction site. Even after Steve agrees to continue the investigation when Roy admits it's hopeless to keep them abducted with Lou's team on their tail, Kamekona is found murdered at home by the real killer, fraud mastermind Sullivan, whose goons have an insurance policy: Roy's kidnapped estranged adult daughter Lauren Parrish.

A body is found in the wall of a house and Max thinks the body's been in the wall for over 6 months and that he was shot. When they check the bullet, they learn that the gun that was used was suppose to be destroyed. And Steve is approached by a reporter who's doing a story on Grover. Specifically about what happened in Chicago. Steve doesn't want to comment but the man says he will do the story with or without his comment. Steve goes to Grover to talk to him and Grover tells him what happened.

Steve is called to investigate the death of a couple who hired a boat to take them fishing. Steve notices that something struck the boat but doesn't know what. That's when Jerry shows up and tells Steve that he thinks that a Chinese spy satellite was what struck the boat and that maybe Chinese agents were the ones who killed the couple. But the military and intelligence all claim that it's not true. So Jerry offers Steve some info that can help. He goes to get it when a woman with a gun shows up and asks for what he has but Jerry hits her with a stun gun and calls Steve. She tells them that she's a Chinese agent and that the person he seeks is a rogue Chinese agent who plans to sell the info in the satellite which could mean trouble for the US. She offers to help but only if they bring her with them, Steve agrees but Danny is suspicious. And Steve arranges for Grover to take Danny's mother on a ride along which doesn't make Danny happy.

Steve and Danny go to Cambodia to check the lead he learned about his family and finds practically nothing so he goes back to Hawaii and helps Chin with the investigation. They learn the woman brought nearly 200 k with her, but she didn't have it on her. They learn she used the money to pay a woman's hospital bills. They talk to the woman and she says she doesn't know her. But they find a photo of her with the woman's son who disappeared 25 years ago. They wonder if his disappearance has something to do with her death.

Dekker, the gun dealer 5-O arrested, calls Steve asking him to see him. He gives Steve info on a gun deal about to go down. Steve goes there and sees there's no gun deal but hears a cellphone and finds a man tied up. He answers the phone and the voice tells him he should have left it alone, then there's an explosion trapping him and Danny. Grover and the Fire Captain tries to find a away to get them out. Chin and Kono thinking Dekker set Steve up goes to see him. Dekker denies it. Catherine makes contact with Steve and he sends a photo of the man and Max observes him believes he recently had an operation so checking out men like him who had similar operations he brings a list. And when Chin checks out the list, he sees that the man is Dekker's brother. Dekker admits that the info was given to him by another con who told him to pass it to 5-O. So they assume that this was about targeting 5-O specifically. Grover and the Captain come up with a plan for Steve and Danny to get out but it's risky.

The team quickly links the case to the US agent of the Jemenite branch of Al-Qaeda, and booby traps killing or injuring US Navy personnel in the field, but also brainwashed Hawaiian students.

When they find him, he tells them that the men who took his son are working for a man whom Steve says was killed years ago. They try to find them but problem is that it's just the two of them. In Hawaii the team is investigating the theft of an organ needed for a transplant.

But before he could look into it, he is told that by the Governor that he and his team are going to help in the transporting of 100 million dollars of seized currency that is earmarked for overseas relief. Grover is contacted by Ian Wright, the cyber criminal he and McGarrett encountered. He tells Grover that he has his daughter and if he wants to see her, he will help Wright steal the 100 million. Grover goes along, he provides Wright's men with uniforms and when they arrive at the airport, they pull their guns and try to get the money but the money is not in the truck that it's suppose to be in. Grover and McGarrett take down Wright's men and he calls them, saying he sees them. He tells them to find the money.
