In a covert Romanian facility, Erik Heller evades security to rescue baby Hanna. 15 years on, father and daughter live deep in the Polish forest. Erik has trained Hanna to be an incredible killer and hunter. Yet, keen to grow beyond the boundaries of her isolated world, she begins to venture away from home. This attracts the attention of CIA agent Marissa Wiegler, who has hunted Hanna since birth.

Following her capture by Marissa's men, Hanna must fight to escape from the Moroccan CIA facility and join Erik in Berlin. Along the way, she meets Sophie, a British teenager on holiday with her family, who gives Hanna her first proper taste of the real world and the thrill of adolescence. Yet despite this glimpse at normality, the threat of Marissa and her operatives is never far behind.

Hanna and Erik are finally reunited in Berlin, where he introduces her to his old army friends and allies. As they hide out in a disused military bunker, planning their next step, Hanna begins to learn more about her father's past. However, having glimpsed a normal family life with Sophie, she becomes increasingly frustrated at her own and at the restrictions Erik imposes on her. Meanwhile, having tracked them down to Berlin with the help of Jacobs, Marissa and her CIA colleague Meisner arrive in the city. They begin to delve into Erik's past, seeking old connections with whom he may be hiding out. Marissa also secretly plots with Jacobs to deal with Hanna and Erik outside the official CIA remit. Sensing Marissa is on their trail, Erik and his friends start stockpiling weapons and begin to prepare for an attack. Erik realises he will need the help of another army friend, Dieter, who is reluctant to get involved due to his own young family. As Marissa and her team close in, Erik and his friends prepare their counter attack on Marissa's hotel. However, Hanna begins to sense that one of their own group may have been compromised.

Father

Erik is holding Marissa prisoner in a disused water tower, trying to negotiate a deal to get him and Hanna safely out of Berlin. Jacobs attempts to track Marissa down but quickly discovers who has the upper hand. Meanwhile, Hanna hides out with Dieter and his family, much to the concern of Dieter's wife Sima. Desperate to know more about what her father is up to, Hanna follows Dieter on a nocturnal trip to the water tower. In doing so she begins to learn that there is more about Erik's past than he has been telling her. As Erik's escape plan begins to come together, Marissa attempts to communicate with her colleague Meisner what is really going on. Yet when Meisner arrives at the Berlin CIA Headquarters, he discovers that a new and elusive man, Sawyer, is now in charge. With freedom seemingly in touching distance, Erik prepares to leave the city with his daughter. However, Hanna is beginning to question whether this is actually what she wants after all.

Still reeling from her revelations about Erik, Hanna hides out in suburban London with Sophie who is keeping her new friend secret from her parents. Sophie is housing Hanna in the family caravan in a nearby garage. Concerned at Hanna's grief-like state, Sophie persuades her to attend a school party, where Hanna meets Sophie's friends including a very cute boy named Anton, who she quickly realises Sophie also feels very strongly about. Meanwhile, unable to go to the hospital for fear of capture, Erik's friends desperately try to save him from the life-threatening injuries he sustained fleeing Sawyer and his men. Erik's only focus however is on finding Hanna. At CIA Headquarters, Marissa learns that Sawyer has taken over the operations and finds herself sent back to Paris and forced to undergo a psychological assessment. However, unwilling to give up on her pursuit of Hanna and Erik, she begins to conduct her own investigations from home. As Marissa begins to track down Hanna's whereabouts, Sawyer closes in on Erik. Back in England, Sophie is desperate to escape her parents' relationship troubles and, along with Hanna and their friends Anton and Dan, the gang 'borrow' the family campervan and head off to the forest.

Mother

Sophie and Hanna's relationship begins to turn sour over their shared interest in Anton. In the fallout from this argument, Marissa arrives at Sophie's house pretending to be Hanna's mother. Hanna finds herself torn between endangering Sophie and her family, or giving up her own freedom and going with Marissa. Meanwhile, a captured Erik is brutally interrogated by Sawyer and his men.

Road

Realising that Hanna will no longer accept anything but the full truth, Erik takes her back to Romania so she can learn more about who she is. As the two journey across Europe, their travels take them through places from Erik's past, bringing up old memories and bringing him and Hanna cautiously closer again. As they journey through Germany, they stop off at Erik's mother's home, where Hanna learns more about Erik's own background. Furious at still being kept out of the loop by Sawyer, Marissa refuses to stop searching for Erik and Hanna. In the process, she begins to discover that Sawyer has not been telling her the full truth about Utrax. Meanwhile, inside a stark facility, a teenage inmate, Clara, develops a growing desire to explore beyond the boundaries of her confined world. As Erik and Hanna arrive in Romania, Hanna begins to have doubts. Yet Erik has another purpose for returning to the country.
Episode 8
Utrax

As Hanna desperately tries to nurse a wounded Erik, he reveals to her the truth about Utrax and the teenage girls that have been born and raised there; girls that Hanna could have been had Erik not rescued her. Hanna is determined to break them out. She and Erik prepare to raid the facility. Meanwhile, in the Romanian countryside, Marissa is holding an injured Sawyer captive following the shootout at the motel. She interrogates him in a bid to discover what has been going on at Utrax since its supposed closure in 2003. As Erik and Hanna begin to mount their assault on the Utrax facility, Clara realises that this is her opportunity to taste freedom.
