She insists he leaves, and that she's not interested in the film, but once he's gone she turns the TV back on. Kevin's up late while his mum's away, and he watches part of the same movie, in the presence of his policeman father and his mates. The next day, everyone's talking about the movie, and Kevin pretends he saw it all. Wayne and the others give Kevin a lot of stick about his old jacket, and he's determined to get shot of it. There's a new boy in school, Chris, and a mystery as to why he had to change schools. Chris' excellence in badminton soon annoys Rick Underwood who seems determined to dislike the other boy. Becky and Jacko are doing some part-time gardening work for a cantankerous old lady to save up for a skiing trip. The gardening goes well, until Jacko accidentally smashes a garden gnome. Wayne has something special to show his mates - an air pistol he's acquired from his brother. They try it out in an old shed, but Kevin has been intrigued enough to follow them. To their surprise he shows them he has a good aim. Wayne is a little narked that Kevin is such a good shot, and tells him they'll find out how good a marksman he is with a moving target. After school, they go to animal sanctuary. Wayne gives Kevin the gun, and indicates some baby goslings. Kevin raises the gun...

Episode 2
At the animal sanctuary Wayne has given Kevin his air gun, so he can try out a moving target. Just before Kevin can fire at some baby geese, a keeper notices them, and they run away, Kevin still holding the pistol. When Kevin gets home, he's terrified that his mum will find the gun in his bag. She doesn't spot it - more concerned with the state of his jacket. He's fascinated with the pistol and can't leave it alone. Rachel and Lucy have spotted Joe out with another girl, and are curious to know if he and Jessica have split up. Joe takes Jessica some flowers - she's still ill, but her brother, Arnie, just thinks she's malingering. Kevin has to go an get a new jacket, but he can't resist in wearing the gun when he gets ready to go out - but he's not reckoned on his mother deciding that she can't let him go out with so much money on his own. He gets away with it, and goes home from the shopping centre on his own. On the way back, he finds some yobs in his path, who take his hat. He almost produces the gun, but can't quite bring himself to do it. Instead, he takes his fury out on his model aircraft suspended from the ceiling, shooting at each in turn. Lucy and Rachel are with Jess, and with reluctance tell her about the girl they saw with Joe. Kevin's father has spotted the broken planes, and spent ammo, and confronts his son about the gun, but Kevin says it was a friend who came round. Kevin's father (himself a policeman) warns him about the dangers of firearms. Monday morning comes, and Jessica comes down to breakfast dressed in uniform, intent on going to school - but she looks unwell. Kevin wraps the gun in newspaper and puts it in the bag, determined to give it back to Wayne. On the bus, Wayne insists on seeing his possession, and Kevin briefly takes out the air gun, but Wayne, changes his mind, happy at Kevin's unease - the bus driver glimpses it. New student Chris is listed to play Badminton for the honour of his house, but refuses to play when he sees that his inclusion has wound up Rick. Mr. Davies sends him to Mr. Robson, outraged at his rudeness. Jessica bursts into the 6th Form Common Room and very publicly dumps Joe, returning his flowers and books. Then, she walks a few steps down the corridor and faints. She comes round, and sits with the school secretary while her mother is sent for. Meanwhile, Year 8 have a maths class with Mr. Parrott, and Wayne mouths across the back row for Kevin to give the gun back. Kevin reaches into his bag... At this moment, Mr. Robson is being handed evidence of an air gun being used - a destroyed yogurt cup, and a handful of ball bearings. Then, Mrs. Maguire tells him that one of the bus drivers saw a gun being waved around. Kevin is being asked a question by Mr. Parrot, and he finds no opportunity to pass the gun back - Poppy recoils in horror when she sees what he's holding. While Kevin holds the gun on his knees, Mr. Davies makes a sudden entry into Mr. Parrott's classroom and tells everyone to put their bags on the tables...

Episode 3
Mr. Davies starts to inspect the bags of the maths class, looking for a gun. At the back, Kevin, who has Wayne's air pistol, tries to conceal it in the waistband of his trousers. Kevin's bag gets the all-clear, but his shifty behaviour is all too evident, and just before he leaves, Mr. Davies gets Kevin to stand up and open his jacket. His gun is revealed. The sports master asks Kevin to give him the gun. "It's not..." Kevin starts to say, then there's the sound of a shot, and Sarah Jane clutches her arm, and screams and screams... Kevin is hauled before Mr. Robson and Sarah Jane is taken to hospital. The police are called and leaving the school forbidden until lockers are searched. With complete disregard to any of his own responsibilities, Wayne sees the absence of Sarah Jane as on opportunity to victimize Poppy Silver further. Kevin is taken home by the police, but they don't believe his statement about finding the gun in the bushes, but he adamantly refuses to give the true account. Year 12, led by Paula is not happy about having their lockers searched. A compromise is agreed with an amnesty box for anything dangerous to be put in. Sarah Jane returns to school the next day, her arm in a sling, and Kevin appears. He's remorseful, apologizing to Sarah-Jane who makes light of it. Wayne, though, just wants to know one thing - did Kevin report who the gun really belonged to? With the amnesty box in place, there's one question which Paula wants answered - should they look in absentee Julie's locker, or not. The vote decides in opening it, but Paula's casual attitude to messing with Julie's possessions riles up Robyn, who angrily tells Paula to get lost. Rachel goes to visit Jessica in her sick bed, to get her involved in a project to organize Year 11 photos. Suddenly, Jessica bursts into tears. Robyn and Becky go to visit Julie's house, with all the stuff from her locker. They find her room is an utter mess, and her mother doesn't know when Julie's going to be home again. While she's looking at photos, Jessica tells Rachel that she doesn't remember Dennis - she's terrified that she's losing her mind. Arnie brings his sister a cup of tea, but Jessica spills it - Arnie shouts at her that he hates her getting all the attention, and hopes she'll never get better. The next day, Poppy gets on the bus - she thinks she's lost Wayne, but he's hiding behind the seat and surprises her. He winds her up by shaking up a coke can near her. Meanwhile, Jessica goes to hospital to get her blood test results.

Episode 4
Mr. Arnold goes to school to tell Mr. Robson that Jessica has been diagnosed with M.E. Her father is distressed at her depleted condition. Life at home is evidently troubled - he is wearing odd socks. Mr. Robson does a swap, and himself has to wear the only others to hand - bright pink socks from the drama studio. Wayne continues to terrorize Poppy - scribbling in a textbook, and implicating her as having done it. Miss Carver senses there's something more than Poppy's unhelpful denial, but the girl won't explain further. The Arnolds have an offer that bucks up Jessica when she hears it - her aunt in California has asked her to stay. Dennis is envious of another boy's smart looking jacket he bought while on an exchange trip to the States. He and Lucy go to see Jessica, and hear of her impending trip to the U.S. He then has the brainwave that he can make use of her location to get into business selling cut-price, American jackets. He ropes in Dudley and Josh, and gets some up-front orders, but there's still the small problem of convincing Jessica. Robyn gets a postcard from Julie in Spain, but there's still no clue about her return. Dennis and the others cobble together a farewell card for Jess. They go round and Dennis starts selling the idea, but Jessica can't think straight. Arnie overhears Dennis pushing the idea, and tells the boys that they ought to realize she's ill. Jessica thanks him for his intervention and he explains that their dad has had a chat with him about the illness. Dennis and the lads despondently eat at a local burger bar, out of pocket from changing money to dollars and back again. Then Dennis decides - who would know if they took American looking jackets from the market, and sold them as authentic? Robyn takes her postcard to show Julie's mother, and finds her redecorating her room. Then Julie surprises them both by appearing in the doorway...

Episode 5
Julie returns to school with a bit of attitude, and also a mystery about who's writing to her from Spain. Realising that one of Julie's scarves is still draped over the light fitting after they messed around with her locker's contents, Paula stands on a table to retrieve it, her legs held by Denny. Then, Denny gets distracted, and as Julie enters, she is treated to the sight of Paula falling into Joe's arms. Mrs. Maguire is suffering from morning sickness - Kelly finds her in the loos. She passes the message onto Mr. Robson that Mrs. Maguire is in the toilets having a baby! Miss Carver captures the imagination of her Year 8 class with some vivid poetry about fascism - it makes Poppy think about her situation with Wayne. The class is told to bring in something precious to them to talk about. Poppy decides to take in a photo of her late grandparents - her mother is a little reluctant as it is the only copy. Sarah Jane calls Poppy wanting help with the science homework - Poppy says she'll meet her in the playground, so her own work can be copied. The next day, Poppy finds Wayne waiting for at the bus stop, but he doesn't board the bus when it comes. She's getting very late, and decides to run to school instead. In the playground, Sarah-Jane fumes, having agreed to meet her there. In the end, both Wayne and Sarah-Jane get detention. In Science, Wayne turns off Mr. Hankin's computer during the lesson - the teacher puts it down to the frequent power failures that have been occurring. In English, Year 8 show the things that they have brought in which are special to them. Kelly has brought in her rabbit, and Sarah-Jane her pebble that reminds her of her holiday. Then Poppy describes her photo, but can't really explain its importance. In the common room, Paula puts down Julie (in her absence), but is the only one who doesn't like her new sophistication. As she's going home, Wayne steps out in front of Poppy, and demands to see her photo. He almost drops it down the stairs but gives it back. Then, as she moves away, he puts out his leg, and she trips, smashing the precious photo frame...

Episode 6
It's half term, but there are still things to be done at school, including some rewiring. Robyn's helping out get the French Exchange ready with Gerald, and a new outbreak of graffiti at the front will keep the caretaker busy. Half term comes to and end - but the electricians are still around, and there's fresh graffiti on the front of the school. In English, Poppy pretends to have not done her homework, so she'll earn a detention. Robyn gets into trouble because one of the French exchange kids with asthma is put with a family who owns a cat - she can't remember dealing with it though. Joanna and Rachel are chatted up by one of the electricians, and Joanna finds a box of Milk Tray in her locker. She's initially pleased, but then is spooked by the thought that someone was able to break into her locker, and when she walks outside, she nervously looks around as she walks. Robyn gets some extra tuition from Mr. Parrott - he gives her a back a little confidence after she almost gives up 'A' level French. Then she learns that it was definitely Gerald who made the mistake with the French family. In the library, Joanna makes a disturbing discovery amongst her books - a Polaroid photo of her walking across the playground. Joanna confronts Craig, the electrician, as he paints over the graffiti - he denies it was he who put the chocolates in her locker, and took the photograph. Poppy does detention - she can't get Sarah-Jane to listen to her, but she leaves a poem which expresses her feelings. Kelly takes it, and shows it to Sarah-Jane: it is an expression of her fear waiting for Wayne to pounce. Joanna notices some photos on the noticeboard - they are of the same type as the one of her and were taken by Dudley. She rushes off to find him. Outside she hands the photo to him, and tells him what a creep he is...

Episode 7
Anna and her mum have a new guest - Chantel from the French Exchange. After his failure with Joanna, Dudley is sworn off girls. He decides to go for chess instead, but gets fed up playing Alicia - and decides that girls are banned from the chess club! Mr. Robson proposes the idea of sixth formers being paid (a little) to monitor bullying. Paula and Robyn take a sneaky peek at Julie's Spanish letter, and they're intrigued to find it is from Barcelona, but since they can't read Spanish, they're no further forward. The French students arrive and find their hosts. Anna's guest, Chantel picks at her food and says very little. Mr. Parrott's putting up a French teacher, who introduces him to the joys of poker. Year 8's are given a confidential sheet to fill in to report any bullying - Poppy glances nervously at Wayne. Paula's new responsibilities in monitoring bullying seem to have gone to her head - she forces apart the two French students who are just larking around with each other. Arnie is determined to get to know Édith a bit better, but he can't find the words. Arnie calls his sister who's in America, but he just gets his annoyed Aunt on the phone, because it's only ten to four in the morning over there. The sixth formers decide to hold a special disco in honour of the French visitors. Poppy has filled in her bullying sheet, but can't find Miss Carver. She walks home with it, but Wayne springs out, and tears it up. At home, Arnie successfully reaches Jessica on the phone, and asks her advice about "a friend" who wants to ask out one of the French girls. She advises him to get someone else and ask out both Édith and her friend Chantel, so he gets Chris to agree. Anna overhears and, since she wants to go with Chris, tells an elaborate lie that Chantel is pregnant and looking for an English boy to take the blame! More graffiti appears on the school - this time it's high up the wall, and larger than ever. Arnie gets Rick to be his partner in asking out the girls, but just as he's about to try, the French mistress and Mr. Robson come into earshot, and want to know what he's trying to say. Poor Dudley's left out - alone in the chess club. Laurie comes in and offers to play but he insists - "no girls!"

Episode 8
The French themed fancy dress disco hits a snag when it turns out the hall wasn't booked by Paula, and the electricians are going to be working there. There's a bit of rebellion in the air when it's learned that the disco admittance fee is £3.00, and when word gets through to Mr. Robson, he insists the price is halved. With the prices cut, the sixth formers decide to charge for food - to Robyn's annoyance, they opt for Gerald's suggestion to serve French food - crepes, etc. At Anna's home, Chantel is a bit too free and easy with the phone calls to France for Mrs. Wright's liking. Mr. Parrott offers Robyn a lift home, but she glowers a little when he also offers Julie a lift. There's another poker session at Mr. Parrott's house, this time with Mr. Hankin and Mr. Brisley. They are slightly alarmed to find that they're playing for a £5 stake. The next day, it appears Mr. Parrot lost a packet, but the other teachers aren't ready for another session. The disco gets underway. Paula shows off her impressive 18th century aristocratic French outfit complete with wig. Julie finally explains about "Roggy", a photographer she met in Spain. Julie explains that she went to stay with him in Barcelona. While she reminisces about her holiday, Christophe, a new French teacher, asks about her drawings, and she's smitten by his charm! The French revolutionary theme of the disco goes a little too far, when Anna and the other "peasants" storm the highly-priced refreshment table. Their overthrow is halted by the arrival of Mr. Robson, who insists the prices are reduced. There's another problem - the French girls aren't dancing because they don't like the music - luckily they have a more suitable tape with them. It seems they can't please everyone though, and then Julie wants to hear "Wild Thing". Under instructions from Julie, Robyn gets Mr. Parrott onto the dance floor which gives Julie an opportunity to dance with Christophe. Poor Arnie is left on his own when Edith chooses one of her compatriots to dance with. Then the music stops, and the sixth formers unveil a convincing looking guillotine, beheading a melon. As Jacko asks for the first customer, Mr. Robson intervenes. Despite being told it is perfectly safe, he forbids it to be used on any students, but Mr. Parrott steps forward as a willing volunteer. After having his head cut off (a ghoulish prop head is shown to the appreciative audience) Mr. Parrott asks Robyn for another dance...

Episode 9
It's Sunday, and time to clear up after the disco, and to say goodbye to the French exchange students. For Chris though, his devout parents won't hear of any excuse for him not to attend church. His home life is quite different from most of his school-friends, with no television nor other modern trappings. Life at home with Wayne isn't a bed of roses with his sister and her new baby, and a cramped bedroom shared with a short tempered weight-lifting brother, who drops a weight on his foot. At church, Chris watches as someone is baptized - a full body immersion. At school, Paula turns up unsuitably dressed for a clear up, and doesn't contribute much. Christoph hands around sweets for the helpers: Paula dips in, but her hand's smacked away by Robyn who tells her she's doesn't deserve anything. Annoyed at being seen to be idle in front of hunky Christoph, Paula starts up the floor polisher, but to her horror it has a life of its own, wheeling her around the floor, and dumping her unceremoniously onto it. Monday comes round, and Mr. Parrott is sporting a rather expensive gold watch - he explains he won it. In Mr. Hankin's Year 9 class, they discuss time. Poppy shows her ruler she bought from the Greenwich observatory. When she sees Wayne looking at her disapprovingly, she pretends not to know anything about the subject. Chris's classmates want to know why his parents were so hard on him about going to the disco - he makes up a story about getting into a fight, and Anna hangs on his every word. Mr. Parrott has to take Miss Carver's English class. To keep them quiet, he offers various monetary prizes for a word finding challenge. In Mr. Hankin's class there's a distraction outside. Wayne takes the opportunity to break Poppy's special ruler. Then, Wayne tells Mr. Hankin that the gold watch is a fake. When Mr. Parrott's competitive English class comes to an end, Chris is the clear victor - his home-life scrabble practice paying dividends. Anna has come bottom - and one of her words is "zat" - as she explains, it is French for "that!" Robyn asks Mr. Parrott for more Maths tuition, but he refuses. There are school-wide discussions on bullying: Julie mentions how she used to be bullied, and Robyn looks down, ashamed of her involvement all those years ago. As the discussions continue, Poppy tries to work out where Wayne is, so she can avoid him, but he creeps up on her - she runs, and steps on his bad foot. He recoils in pain, but tells her receding figure that he'll be waiting for her tomorrow...

Episode 10
Mr. Parrott's dishevelled, late arrival at school causes concern. He dishes out German textbooks to the Maths class and has a disturbing phone call with his bank about his overdraft. Robyn asks again if he'll do some extra tuition, and this time he agrees, no doubt thinking about the useful extra cash. Robyn confides in Julie in the toilets, but they aren't alone and Paula eavesdrops the conversation. The "Confront the Bully" scheme gets underway, and the staff start looking for older students who would be good at counselling those who are bullied. Julie gives a speech to the assembled Year 8's about her own experiences. Wayne gets even for Poppy treading on his foot - he pretends friendship, gets her to put his books away, and while her back is turned, cuts off some braids of her hair. Sarah-Jane finds her crying, but Poppy won't be helped. In games, Wayne hurts his foot - but it's much more injured than ought to have happened - the result of his brother dropping a weight on it the previous week. At hospital he's told that he's broken a small bone in his foot and must take two weeks off school. Miss Carver hands out envelopes of those chosen to do bully counselling - Lauren, and Josh get one. Robyn's tuition gets underway - but she's more interested in his poker system than doing calculus. Mr. Parrott tells of the casino he has been visiting, but letting Robyn come along is out of the question. Wayne gets little sympathy from his brother - Andy turfs him out of their shared bedroom, and he hobbles into school. Mr. Robson has good news for Mr. Hankin - he's had an agreement from the governors that a trial splitting of Year 8 science class into boys and girls can go ahead. Lauren does her first stint of bully counselling, and Poppy goes to see her. Lauren tries to calm her fears and promises to arrange a meeting with Wayne. When Sarah Jane meets Poppy after school, she sees a much happier girl than before. Lauren speaks to Wayne in the drama studio and offers the chance to put things to right, with him, Poppy and herself discussing the bullying, or it will go to the staff to sort things out, and he's likely to be excluded...

Episode 11
The announcement that the science class is going to be split into boys and girls is not met with enthusiasm. Julie's done a brilliant drawing of Christophe and he praises it. Mr. Parrott makes a passing comment that implies that Julie isn't the sort of girl that men fancy. She comes to believe that Christophe, the French assistant, has a girlfriend in Paris. Jodie suggests the idea of the older girls spending a day at their father's workplace in order to enhance their perception of career possibilities. The meeting between Wayne, Poppy and Lauren gets underway. Lauren lays it on the line: Wayne must leave Poppy alone, or Lauren will expose Wayne's bullying to the staff. "Bring your daughter to work" day starts. Jodie goes to her father's place of work - a music studio. Cecile, Mme. Lefevre's daughter comes in, but her mother doesn't really know what to do with her. In French, Josh goes to get a spare text book from the store cupboard, and finds Lefevre junior inside. He's gone a long time, and Lucy is sent in after him. She enters just as he's retrieving her contact lens which has landed on her left breast! She gives them an icy look... Afterwards, when she's walking with Rachel, they works out that it was she who was seeing Joe behind Jess's back. Jodie's work experience with her father isn't very exciting - he's working on a short advert, not with her favourite band, Red Lizard. Cecile shows interest in taking part in the forthcoming school production of Grease, for which Joe has already been chosen in the male lead. Robyn finishes her extra tuition with Mr Parrot. As he turns to leave, a roll of banknotes falls from his pocket. He explains he didn't rob a bank, but perhaps tried to break one... The rehearsal for Grease gets under way, but Joe can't seem to take his eyes off Cecile...

Episode 12
Robyn tries to persuade Mr. Parrott to take her to the casino. It's early evening, and Anna makes an interesting observation - she sees Chris Longworth coming out of a church. Chris talks to his mother about the forthcoming baptism - he's confused about his own feelings towards his religion. As they talk, there front doorbell rings - it's Anna, and she worms her way inside, under the pretence of a history project. The atmosphere inside is tense - Chris's mother tries to uncover something of Anna's home life, and Chris makes up a lie to make her seem more normal. Anna leaves abruptly, feeling unwelcome. When she's gone, Chris's mother reads the story of Doubting Thomas from the bible. His father gives Chris a frank talk about his own doubts when he was Chris's age. At the casino, Robyn's sexy dress makes Mr. Parrott gulp uneasily. She drinks champagne, and eats smoked salmon sandwiches. Mr. Parrott shows her the poker table and explains the rules. Robyn seems to have brought him luck, and he wins £1200. Robyn's teacher gives her a £50 token to play on roulette, and she doubles her money. Robyn calls Julie to arrange to stop the night there, but is so engrossed in her evening, that she leaves it too late. Mr. Parrott offers her the sofa bed in his flat - in the morning she's gone before he's up. At school, Chris tries to explain to an aloof Anna about his parents' devout beliefs: she tries to laugh it off, saying he's weird, but he takes it badly and walks away. In the Common Room, Robyn stuns the others by her appearance in a man's shirt. She explains to Julie that it's Mr. Parrott's, and goes into details. After a science lesson, Poppy trips in the corridor. Wayne is standing nearby, but to her surprise, seems genuinely concerned. Year 9 are studying Huckleberry Finn and since a film version is showing at the local cinema decide they should all go to see it. When they ask Chris, he says he's doing something else. Julie meets up with Christophe at an art exhibition. As they drink coffee, he sees that she has something on her mind, and she explains that she's worried about Robyn and Mr. Parrott. Nearby, Joe is with Cecile, and they leave at the same time. Cecile sees Julie and Christophe leave on Christophe's motorbike, and is very interested in the French assistant teacher. Cecile mentions the musical, and the ideas she has for outfits - but Joe lays it on the line - if she wants to work on "Grease", then they are finished!

Episode 13
Chris is preparing for his baptism with his parents when Anna knocks at the door. Chris's mother firmly declines her entry. While having a joke at Christophe's expense about Julie doing anything for him, Mr. Brisley learns about Robyn and Mr. Parrott. In the English class, Miss Carver is furious at the low quality of the essays about "Huckleberry Finn" - everyone watched the film rather than reading the book. Robyn returns Mr. Parrott's shirt, but finds him cold and embarrassed. Arnie's father's audio book gives Arnie an idea about learning their set English books - he, Dill, Colin and Laurie set about recording "Moonfleet" onto cassette. Rehearsals for Grease are interrupted by the arrival of Cecile to work on the costumes - Joe completely loses his concentration. While working on the sets, Julie notices Christophe has his mind on something else. He tells her that he has a big problem in Paris. She suggests he needs to sort it out, and almost without a pause, he's on his bike to head over there. While Cecile and Joe kiss in the room set aside for wardrobe fitting, Dennis comes in, and it looks like any secrecy their romance might have had is gone. In Arnie's bedroom the transcribing of Moonfleet onto tape has proved to be a much harder endeavor, even with the numerous "cuts" they've made to the story, but time is up, and they have to make do with the recording they have. Copies of the home-engineered audio book are distributed and studied. At the set building, Robyn turns up with pizza, and before she knows it, is dancing around with Gabriel. Then Cecile starts singing, and the moment is lost, everyone surprised at her talent. Robyn walks off disconsolately, aggrieved at the early interruption. She goes to see Mr. Parrott, who says he's pleased with her work, but that's not quite what she wanted to hear. She reminds him of the fun they had at the casino, but he refuses to entertain the idea of doing it again. She explains that she doesn't seem to fit in any more with her friends. Mr. Parrott thinks he understands - she likes Gabriel, but she denies it, and bursts into angry tears. She cries in his arms, his arm awkwardly half around her shoulder. Later, as she gets her Maths test results back, she also gets a card from Mr. Parrott. Later, when alone, she reads it, and smiles at the contents. Gabriel's announcement that Cecile is in the chorus doesn't meet with complete approval - Paula objects because Cecile doesn't even attend the school. Miss Carver sets a test on "Moonfleet", and is puzzled by the results - all the entries show the same grey areas of knowledge - the parts of the book that were skipped. Miss Carver demands an answer from her form. They are mute, so she puts them all in detention.

Episode 14
Miss Carver hands over her detention class to Mme Lefevre, who in turn delegates Christophe to do it. Julie learns that Christophe is heartbroken after he returns from his lightning trip to Paris. Robyn arranges a half-term tuition session at Mr. Parrott's flat. Julie's good humoured comments about her fancying him lead to Robyn losing her temper, and giving back some retaliatory derision about her and Christophe. Cecile's observation that a girl in the chorus is singing flat doesn't go down well. Chrisophe takes Miss Carver's detention, and is no mood for arguments from the detainees, especially when the work they've been given makes no sense at all to them. They rebel, and threaten to leave, but Chrisophe shouts at them, how they are undisciplined. The original span of the detention expires, and Chris apologetically gets up to leave, the French teacher restrains him. Anna stands her ground and insists that they can't be held without notice to their parents, and the others follow her lead out of the classroom. Before they leave school, they run past Miss Carver, and she gets to the root of the issue: it's a piece of 'A' Level coursework they've been set! Chris is in trouble when he gets home - he missed an appointment with Reverand Walker about the baptism. Josh and Dennis make a bet with Lucy and Rachel as to who can come up with the best gossip for the school's yearbook. The girls are determined to find out more about Chrisophe and his two brothers, while the boys pick Joe's brains about Cecile and her mother, Mme Lefevre. Joe spins them a yarn about Mme. Lefevre being jealous of her daughter's singing ability. They don't quite believe Joe, but then Dudley discovers Robyn's card from Mr. Parrott, and suddenly they have a rather more salacious story. The card alludes to them spending the night together: but the idea of Mr. Parrott and a student is too ludicrous to imagine, and Dennis tears up the evidence. Chris approaches his baptism with fierce doubts about his faith. He packs his bag, and leaves, but Anna finds him in the street, and interrogates him about what he's doing. He tells her he's taking the coach to Victoria, and asks her to cover his absence. Later, at the coach station, he's shocked to see Anna sit down beside him. She asks him where they are going...

Episode 15
Chris is on his way to see his Gran in Glasgow, with Anna in tow, while his parents fret. They stop at a motorway café for a break, but in their haste to get back, Chris leaves his little book with directions. At home, Arnie's parents are called round, but can't throw any light on matters. On the coach, Chris realizes that he's lost his book, and the necessary directions to get to the remote location of his Gran. After a night at the Glasgow coach station, it nears the end of the next day before Chris and Anna are in walking distance of Chris's Gran - if he can remember where she lives. Night falls, and they are still not there, and Chris twists his ankle. Things look bleak - they briefly see a light from a nearby house. Meanwhile, Miss Carver is taking it easy on her holiday, in front of a warm fire, and makes friend with another lone holiday maker. Anna has brought some matches, and they get a fire going. To Anna's surprise, she hears Chris praying. She's scornful of his faith, and tells him she wouldn't have come if she'd known he was in the "God Squad". She says that she's not without a spiritual side, but doesn't have any truck with the Church. Chris tells Anna that he was going to be baptised, and they realize that at least Anna isn't scared any more. Morning comes, and Anna and Chris's sleep under a boat is interrupted by its owner, Eilidh, who angrily demands to know what they are doing there. Anna concocts a story about doing the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and the boat owner helps them back to her house. At her hotel, Miss Carver is about to have breakfast, happy and relaxed away from London, when she gets a phone call from school. To her surprise (and annoyance) she's told that it's suspected that Chris is in the same area as her, at his Grandmother's house. Miss Carver has to bow out of a trip to Skye. Chris calls his parents house, but he can't bring himself to speak to his father - unfortunately for him, the "1471" service tells his parents where he was calling from. Meanwhile Anna has gone out crab fishing with Eilidh, rides back on horseback, and then they pop into a hotel to sell them. In the hotel, the proprietor tells Aileen about the police visiting - looking for two runaways from London. When they leave on horseback, Anna sees Miss Carver outside the hotel and tries to hide. Eilidh demands to know what's really going on...

Episode 16
It's Sunday: Robyn goes round for a tutorial at Mr. Parrott's house, to find him unshaven, and even unaware of what the day of the week is. He explains the untidy flat as the result of a poker party. Anna and Chris nervously wait at Eilidh's house, afraid of going out with the police looking for them - she suggests that Chris writes a letter to his gran which she'll take. They've reckoned without the call record of Chris's phone call to his parents, which gives the police the address they need. While Anna and Eilidh are out, they spot an approaching police car. Eilidh sends Anna and Chris to the boat and they escape to the island, Eilidh pretending not to hear the calls from the police officers. Chris and Anna wade ashore, while Eilidh goes back to face the police. At Mr. Parrott's place, Robyn washes up his dishes, but Mr. Parrott is too wasted to start the tutorial and she realizes he's also drunk. She can't meet his gaze, and he totters off to get some sleep in his boxer shorts. While Eilidh helps the police with their enquiries, Anna and Chris get soaked by a downpour, and look for shelter. At Mr. Parrott's flat, there's a shock for Robyn when Mr. Brisley calls round. He sees Robyn, then a disheveled Mr. Parrott in his boxer shorts, and hurriedly leaves before any explanation can be given. Round at Chris's grandmother's house, Miss Carver gets the truth out of Eilidh, when she sees the letter being handed over. On Little island, Chris talks to Anna about his commitment worries, and they seem to have gotten closer from their experiences. Miss Carver, though, has blown her date for the evening - the young man she met now dining alone back at the hotel, until that is, he spies a pretty blonde woman on the adjacent table... On the island, Anna and Chris have had enough, and are resigned to their fate when they see the lights from the police approaching the island. At Chris's grandmother's house, there are a few explanations - Anna is surprised to learn that Miss Carver wasn't up there because of them, but was just on holiday. Miss Carver hurries back to the hotel - but she sees Ewan chatting up the blonde, and realizes it's too late. Chris's gran persuades Chris that he does need to stand up to his father, and speak about his worries. The next morning, Anna and Chris are outside. Chris tries to kiss Anna, but she jerks away, pointing out the approach of Eilidh on her horse. Anna comes clean about their true story - that it wasn't true about Chris's father hitting him. Anna has a ride on her own on Eilidh's horse, and then Eilidh leaves them. The moment seems right now: Chris and Anna kiss...

Episode 17
When Mr. Parrott doesn't turn up for their Maths class, Dennis goes to the heavily pregnant school secretary. His kindly-meant observations about the agonies of childbirth aren't received too well. Robyn gets into a bit of a state when she finds out that Mr. Parrott isn't in, concerned that he's been drinking too much. Paula's disruption of the Grease rehearsals are beginning to wind up Gabriel. Mr. Brisley tells Miss Carver about finding Robyn in Mr. Parrott's flat. Dudley tries to put forward his artistic skills for the musical, but he's rebuffed. Unable to find a classroom to revise in, Joanna invites Lucy and Rachel around to her house. Julie and Robyn go round to Mr. Parrott's flat and peer into the window's net curtains. To their horror it looks like the teacher is unconscious on the floor by the sofa. While the caretaker goes to get a key, Robyn knocks on the window - and then Mr. Brisley and Miss Carver arrive on the scene. Josh and Dennis talk about their home life - Josh explains that his mother is on slimming pills - and he's taken some himself, and noted that they give him extra energy. Inside Mr. Parrott's flat there's a sense of relief when the only thing behind the sofa is a pair of trousers and some shoes. Mr. Brisley reports that it looks like his colleague has done a bunk. Meanwhile, Mr. Robson has received a letter - a resignation from Mr. Parrott. At school, Miss Carver tells Robyn the news, and asks if there was anything more between them. Robyn says there wasn't, but she breaks down in tears at her loss...

Episode 18
Josh is in a last minute panic over the exams, trying to cram in some last minute revision. Mrs. Maguire is showing around her temporary replacement. Julie and Christophe are having fun in the "Grease" car and he is just about to kiss her when Mrs. Maguire and Mrs. Betterton come into the room - the latter is shocked by what she sees. Dennis tells Jodie about Josh's weird behaviour, but when she talks to Lucy and Joanna, they think Dennis might be winding her up. The Sixth Formers are at a show - the Hologram Laboratory, where they are about to see "actual lifeforms from other planets". Paula is more interested in the hunky presenter who shows them round. There are many surprises in store, as the show sets off its pyrotechnics and strobe lighting. "They've escaped!" exclaims the "scientist", and leads the visitors down a corridor. "It's only a tunnel," says Jacko dismayed at the anti-climactic exit", but then he sees the scaly hand work its way round the door. Then there's a mad dash through the corridors, with tentacles and explosions all around. At their respective homes, Dennis puts his history books to one side and settles down for sleep, while Josh takes more of his pills, and gets ready for more revision. Back at the Hologram Laboratory, the show is over, as the "scientist" is pulled away by a monster and then they are at the exit, and back in the normal world - except Christophe who's lost. Julia catches up with him back at the start, and he's glad to see her - they kiss. The next day, and Dennis has slept in - he hurriedly puts on his clothes and rushes off for his rendezvous with the history exam. The others pile into the exam room, while Mr. Hankin reads out the usual blurb. Lauren has stomach pains, and Miss Carver offers to get some Aspirin. Dennis runs into school, tripping and hurting his hand on the way. He is just in time as he enters the room for the exam, but there's laughter as his pyjamas are visible from out the bottom of his trousers. He starts the exam with the others, but it's difficult with his sore hand, and afterwards he complains it wasn't fair. Josh's paper is taken away, but he sits there afterwards, staring blankly ahead - Mr. Hankin puzzles over why his exam paper is blank. Julia finds Christophe has been ignoring her, and finally she corners him in a room to find out why. He explains he is in a difficult situation, being akin to a teacher, and when they meet, it needs to be outside school. Lucy, Joanne, Jodie and Lauren sing joyfully after the relief of the exam being over - ahead of them Josh suddenly collapses. They think he's messing around, and Jodie stoops down - he's not breathing...

Episode 19
Josh recovers in hospital, aware that he's ruined his chances of passing History. In the wine bar, Miss Carver is talking to Mme. Lefevre, when they notice Cecile and Joe, Miss Carver innocently comments that it's good that they are working together for the benefit of the forthcoming show. The new school secretary becomes annoyed to find so much expense accumulating for the Grease show. Dominic tries to hide the true cost of the show from Mr. Brisley. Sarah-Jane and Kelly learn from Mr. Hankin that the separate boys and girls science classes are going to end at the end of term. Becky is a little hurt when Jacko implies that she could do with losing some weight. Dominic's hopes that the ticket sales will cover the mounting costs of Grease are scuppered when Mr. Robson insists that the ticket prices are reduced. Cecile complements Lucy and tries to make friends, but Lucy's not having any of it - she blames her for ruining Jessica's relationship with Joe. Denny does the maths on Gabriel's costs, but she confirms what he already knows, which is that the ticket prices won't cover the costs. Night falls, and a mystery figure climbs over the gates. He ascends the builder's elevator to the high point of the school building, and gets out his spray paints. When he's done, he activates the control to descend, but it doesn't work. It's Dudley - is he then the mystery spray artist? - who realizes to his horror that he is now stuck up there! The next morning, he is brought before Mr. Robson, who doesn't believe his denial that he is not "Shine", but was just putting up a tag of his own. Dudley is told that he might not be allowed back for the following year. Denny goes out on the street to try to sell advertising to bring in some funds for Grease, while Lucy and Joanna are out roller blading. Dudley lies on the grass, put out that he was blamed for the graffiti, and feeling sorry for himself because he's left Grange Hill. The others give him a surprise present - a specially customized school year book. Dennis, Lucy, and the others resume roller blading - then, disaster, as Lucy goes out of control, and falls over. Gabriel supervises another rehearsal of Grease, and Denny tells him she's gained some advertising to offset costs, but then to her horror he shows his latest acquisition - new leather jackets for the boys, once again adding to the show's debts. Lucy arrives - hobbling in on crutches - so Grease's leading lady is out of commission. Cecile steps forward as the obvious replacement for "Sandy" - she knows all the lines, and can sing. The snag is that no-one else in the cast wants to continue in the play with her in the lead. Gabriel watches on in horror as all the Grease Cast walk out in protest...

Episode 20
The rehearsals for Grease go well until Paula gets carried away and ad-libs a bit that soaks Cecile with wine. While she goes off to recover her composure, Denny tells Gabriel that with the popcorn franchise, they might just break even. Then Cecile pushes Joe away, and he falls and breaks the mirror. Dennis has an idea to increase revenue - if they were to hold back tickets, they could tout them later for a higher premium. Robyn does some role play with Miss Carver to prepare for a job interview, but tears flow when Miss Carver plays her part a little too well. Afterwards it is a much happier Robyn who speaks to Julie about her new plans to take a year out travelling before going to University. Julie talks about her plans to study in Paris, where she will also be close to where Christophe lives. As tickets start to be sold, Denny still refuses to accept Dennis's idea of holding back tickets. He decides to take on the responsibility himself, and buys up some. Word spreads that the final scene is saucy, and soon Dennis's extra tickets are selling like hot cakes. In the Staff Room, Miss Carver and Mr. Hankin are compiling a list of the most obnoxious pupils - Paula Webster is high on the list. Then there is a surprise visitor - Mr. Parrott has returned to watch the show. People start arriving for the first night. A heavily pregnant Mrs. Maguire sits next to Dennis. In the changing room, Joe pops in to see Cecile, but she gives him the cold shoulder. As they prepare to go on stage, they are reconciled, with the proviso that Joe comes clean about Jessica. As the show starts, Mrs. Maguire excuses herself and goes to the Ladies. She arrives there, and the contractions start. In the audience, Lucy becomes upset at seeing Cecile on stage instead of her, and goes off, with Dennis following. Lucy finds Mrs. Maguire -"I'll get an ambulance," says Dennis, but the school secretary tells him it is too late, the baby is coming... A little later, the show nearly over, Mr. Robson and Denny are astonished to find Dennis come out of the girls' toilets. Then there is the sound of a baby crying from within. "It's a girl, sir!" says Lucy, happily, sitting next to Mrs. Maguire. The show over, the cast take a bow, and Gabriel is signalled to join them. As the crowds disperse, there is a surprise for Robyn as Mr. Parrott walks up behind her. He apologises for what happened earlier in the school year, and tells her he is giving up teaching for a while. The Grease cast and crew barge into the empty Staff Room to celebrate their show. They discover the Obnoxious Kids list - to Paula's chagrin. The Sixth Formers are at the end of their time at Grange Hill and make a toast - "To Our Futures!" They move the furniture to one side, put on some music, and have a party...
