Meanwhile, Gruff the dog seems to have free rein of the school. Athletic Mike Bentley shows an interest in Georgina, when he learns that Ziggy has gone back to Liverpool. Julie Corrigan keeps trying to make new friends, but no-one reciprocates. Justine Dean waits patiently for the tardy Tegs, just to show him the new boyfriend she is seeing. Tegs is destructive in Mr. Hankin's Science Class, and gets sent out - Justine deliberately gets sent out too, so she can have a heart-to-heart with him. She finds out that he's jealous of her going out with another boy. Rod's speed at doing long-overdue repairs makes Mr. Griffiths seem inefficient in the eyes of Mrs. McClusky. Locko falls for the old cellophane-over-the-toilet-seat trick, courtesy of Neil Timpson. Charismatic Mrs. Monroe introduces herself to her first formers, warning that she doesn't want to hear anyone calling her by a certain Hollywood-related nickname. Julie has her lunch stolen, and tries one of Akik's spicy samosas - they are united in their dislike of their new school. In Art, Tegs's carelessness spoils Justine's work, and she storms off...

Episode 3
Ronnie's photocopying of some animal cruelty posters does not go unnoticed by Mr. "Mad Max" Hargreaves. Tegs has found a letter sent to his foster home from his mother - he confides to Matthew that he wishes he could talk to Justine like in the old days. Miss Booth is very tired - her mother is staying with her, and Mr. Hargreaves penny-pinching does not help her state of mind. Caretaker Rod gives Trev a game of darts - but is he really so bad as makes out? Not when there's a wager on the outcome! Is Mr. Hargreaves really serious about suggesting uniform for 6th formers? Mrs. Monroe teachers her first formers a school song in Latin and gives Mr. Hargreaves a demo, but he's not impressed. Ted's new found responsibility seems to have gone to his head, and he's taken down a peg by the first formers. Mike is lounging around the 6th form Common Room and Georgina chats him up. He's almost getting to the point where he will ask her out, then Robbie bursts in, annoyed that Mike didn't bother to show up in the gym.

Matthew confides in Tegs to tell him that his family is strapped for cash. Trevor gathers his friends together for some card games with Rod - but the caretaker seems awfully lucky, and takes the sixth formers to the cleaners. Tegs introduces Matthew to the art of breaking-and-entering, going into the caretaker's office with the objective of taking Mr. Griffiths army photograph, for a laugh. Tegs grabs the framed photo and the two enjoy a cup of tea. When Mr. Griffiths comes back unexpectedly, Matthew hides under the table. When the two escape back onto the roof, Tegs slips and twists his ankle, dropping the photo, which smashes. Mrs. Monroe manages to get herself locked into the Stationery Store so attracts the attention of Tegs and Matthew as they pass by. They go to Mr. Hargreaves's office to try to find where the Deputy Head is likely to be, and notice a similar frame to the one they broke, so Tegs grabs it. Mr. Griffiths gives Tegs permission to get the spare Stationery Store key from his office, which is the opportunity he needs to put the photo back in Mr. Hargreaves's frame, ditching the old photo behind the radiator. Unfortunately, Mr. Mackenzie waylays Tegs and Matthew before they can get back to the imprisoned Mrs. Monroe....

Episode 6
When Georgina and Calley goes shopping for make-up, Ronnie puts her oar in, because their purchases aren't cruelty free. Mike chats up Georgina in the chemists, but with Mike's busy training schedule, finding a mutually free evening seems difficult. Ronnie plans to take part in anti-cruelty demonstration. They make some more illicit poster photocopies, pretending that it is for the Art Department, but Mr. Hargreaves catches them - and is furious. He gets a new photocopier in which requires special keys to operate, to end the private photocopying once and for all. Miss Booth finds herself short of large sheets of paper, having to resort to pupils' old work. Chrissy Mainwaring's tee shirt scheme hits a snag when they mess up their design, and spill paint everywhere in the Art Room - adding to Miss Booth's bad temper when she sees it. Tegs and Matthew watch the Caretaker's Office from above, where Rod is playing cards with Trevor, Mauler and Justine's boyfriend. Tegs notices Rod cheating in the poker game. The game comes to a sudden end when Mr. Griffiths returns - carrying the old school computer. Ronnie helps protest outside the chemists, against animal cruelty, spraying red paint onto the window. Then the law step in, and Ronnie and Calley come close to being arrested, but Mrs. McClusky's arrival saves the day. Mike bunks off his training, and spends the afternoon with Georgina at the cinema. Afterwards, he runs with her to a café - but before they can go inside, they see Calley inside with her mystery boyfriend...

Justine goes to see Rod to try to find a spare room that can be used for T-shirt printing. Mr. Robson teaches the First Form about trust - catching a partner falling backwards. He also trusts them to tidy up the gear afterwards - but when he returns, he finds the climbing net missing. Short of funds after losing money to Rod, Mauler and Ted start stealing from the younger members of school, and contemplate finding would-be antiques to sell at the local shop. Tegs rescues Justine from Mauler, and she's grateful but suspicious that he might be spying on her. Georgina and Ronnie's talk with Calley about her new boyfriend becomes a little too personal for Calley's liking. Aichaa shows an interest in Robbie, but she is still nervous about the old relationship between him and Calley. Rod finds Justine a room in the basement, but they are being tailed by Tegs and Matthew. Hearing a noise, Rod and Justine hide and hear Tegs confide in Matthew that he's going to hear about his mum soon, and that he is dismayed that Justine hasn't shown any concern over his home life. Aichaa gets a letter, and a cheque, from "Just 17" magazine, for her glamour photos. Akik gives a demonstration of how to use the old school computer to Mr. Griffiths who is keen to learn about the word processor - but Mr. Mackenzie is expecting it back. Brian, and Locko get the P.E sports net ready, and when the next "satellite" starts to twist around in the playground, they "catch" all its constituent parts, leaving a writhing mass of bodies unable to extricate themselves. Mr. Hargreaves works out that Mr. Griffiths has the old BBC computer, and to the caretaker's chagrin, asks for it to be returned. Meanwhile, Akik, left at the computer, enjoys nosing into the school memos stored there rather insecurely...

Episode 8
Ronnie's concerns about Animal Welfare have become an obsession, with her room filled with posters. At the bus stop, Ronnie and Calley get chatting to St. Mary's girls and Ronnie is horrified to learn that at their school, they cut up rats in Biology. Neil Timpson gets laughed at for his poor throwing skills, but he has revenge planned using his video nasty - he puts the case on the table next to Mirs. Monroe, and the video itself in Jacko's bag. When Mrs. Monroe starts bag checking, a diversion allows Jacko time to realize what's happened, and tacitly the class move the video back to Timpson's own bag, where it is discovered. At St. Mary's, Ronnie finds the Biology lesson, and the girls she met earlier, and hands out anti-vivisection leaflets, ignoring the irate teacher, and telling the class that they can opt out of dissection. Unfortunately, none of the girls there want to compromise their grades by supporting her stand, and she leaves, frustrated by their inaction. In the high street, she stares at the windows of the Butchers, and the shops selling leather purses. At the card games, Mauler takes yet another loss in bad spirits. The others are dismissive of his financial situation, so he steals Mr. Griffiths's photo from the shelf (which is in fact Mr. Hargreaves's photo frame, due to previous machinations with Tegs and Matthew). Mr. Griffiths discovers his photo has gone... at the same time as Mauler enters the local antique shop. Miss Booth goes to see Mr. Hargreaves about getting some money to set up T-shirt printing. She explains that they will make it into a profitable venture, but he comes back to her wanting the whole school to see the profit rather than just the Art Department. In a fury, she draws a cruel caricature of the Deputy Head. At the end of the school day, Mrs. Monroe sits in a detention class with Neil Timpson, and Ronnie walks as if in a daze around the school. She finds her anti-cruelty poster has been defaced - its potent words made light by a smiley face. Mrs. McClusky finds her standing alone, and presses her to divulge her feelings. She explains that she feels she can do nothing to really help the cause, and she breaks down in tears on McClusky's shoulder.

Episode 9
Chrissy and Justine's T-Shirt group gets infiltrated by Raju, who offers to supply the t-shirts via his charismatic cousin. They get a deal where they pay after 28 days. Tegs speaks to his social worker about life with his real mother - the trouble is that she doesn't know anything about him. She suggests that he goes to stay with her for a weekend. Calley and Ronnie are annoyed that they aren't on Mr. Hargreaves Vigilant Committee List - but they aren't the only ones - Mauler can't believe his eyes when he sees Ted and Trevor listed, but not himself. The T-Shirt printing gets underway in the little room, using spray paints. After a while the fumes from the cans start to irritate their throats. Outside, a vengeful Timpson ties the door firmly to the radiator so it won't open. Matthew can't keep his eyes open in the English lesson - Mrs. Monroe gets to the root of the problem - watching late night videos. Back in the T-Shirt printing room, Chrissy and Justine realize that they are suffering from the spray can's fumes, and try to exit, but find the door firmly shut. Mike shows a newspaper to Robbie - the headline tells of a man in a coma after a pub brawl - the same brawl that Robbie and Mike were caught up in. Out in the playground, Raju learns that the girls are spray painting downstairs, and realizes that there is no ventilation. He dashes down there, and opens the door - the two girls are sprawled on the ground...

Episode 10
The T-Shirt printing girls, recovered from their asphyxiation, press their customer Matthew for money, but when he says he has no cash, Tegs proffers a fiver. Shopping for a present for his wife, accompanied by Miss Booth, Mr. Mackenzie buys an antique photo, but it's Mr. Hargreaves's frame, with Mr. Griffiths's photo inside - as sold by Mauler. The photo of a young Mr. Griffiths is recognized by the staff, and given back to the grateful caretaker. "Big, dark-haired and Ugly", is the description of the youth who sold the photograph - Rod works out it was Mauler, and not wanting any suspicions to fall his way, insists that Mauler goes to fetch the frame from Mr. Mackenzie's class. Outside the room, Matthew gets a ticking off from Mrs. Monroe for late homework, and afterwards gets a mission from Mauler - to recover and hide Mr. Hargreaves's frame. Aichaa gets an interview with a modelling agency, but to her disgust, it's Georgina who they are interested in. Aichaa is initially cross, but is actually relieved that the whole escapade has ended. Rod takes the frame from Matthew, and bins it. Justine is just about to make friends again with Tegs, who's off to stay with his real mother, when her boyfriend surprises her: she turns round, and the moment is lost. Aicha walks home with Georgina. She meets her obnoxious little brother who's put the magazine with her picture inside on her strict father's pile of mail. However, her mother saves the day by intercepting it, with a small lecture of her own. Tegs arrives at his mother's house, is greeted by his social worker, and goes to his new bedroom. When his mother arrives, and goes up to check on him, he's gone, the window open....

Episode 11
Life at home with Matthew and his mother and sister is not easy in a crowded flat, with shared bathroom and an indifferent landlord. Meanwhile, Tegs has returned to his mother's house after vamoosing, and spent a happy weekend. The T-shirt printing hits a snag when Chrissy's choice of coloured shirts combined with their dyes runs in the wash. Ronnie is incredulous when it's planned to bring a butcher to speak to the school, but Mrs. McClusky won't listen to her complaints. Matthew becomes upset in class, but hides it, when Mrs. Monroe insists he will have to pay for the book he lost. Becky discovers that the ink from marker pens is wash-proof, so takes a bundle of pens out of the Art Room. Grange Hill holds a meagre famine lunch, and Asian boy Akik meets with some predictably racist remarks from his peers. Mauler's annoyed that Ted and Trevor have been made VCs, and is further wound up by Ted's evident pleasure at receiving a shiny badge. Julie starts following Georgina around, like a shadow. Matthew seems to be destitute, his shoes have fallen apart, and he can't pay for his t-shirt. Tegs lends him some more money for him to buy glue. At home, his mother leaves the flat for an interview, and Matthew and his sister spend a nervous night listening to the noisy, violent, neighbours screaming at each other.

Episode 12
Sitting in a café, Robbie encounters Derek, who witnessed his involvement in a pub brawl. Derek makes it clear he's happy that Robbie's kept quiet about what happened, even though it's clear that Robbie and Mike weren't really party to the violence. He introduces his yobbish friends, and together they head off for the match. When they get to the terraces, their interest seems more in confronting the opposition's fans than football. Afterwards, and out of his depth, Robbie is anxious to escape, but before he can, there's a tussle with a rival gang. The First formers plan to capitalize on the hunger lunches by cooking up a vast amount of Chilli con-carne to sell. Ronnie has lunch with Calley and her boyfriend, but her non-stop anti-vivisection talk drives him bananas and they are soon at loggerheads. When Ronnie suggests that someone is driving around picking up cats and dogs for experimentation, he suddenly seems to be quite knowledgeable about the subject. Georgina asks Julie Corrigan to stop following her in front of Alice. Georgina wants Mike to arrange a double date with Robbie and Aichaa. Mike becomes concerned that publicity he receives from his athletics trials might bring attention to his identity, and that he might be remembered as being present at the pub brawl. Neil Timpson becomes suspicious about the vast quantities of food being made in the cookery class but Jacko won't bring him into the secret. When chants of "Julie loves Georgina Hayes" are started by Alice, and she sprays water at them in retaliation, Timpson uses the diversion to spike the Chilli Con-Carne pot with a whole tub of hot Chilli Powder. Calley and Ronnie's animal rights tee shirts are (with reservations) okayed by Mrs. McClusky, but Mr. Hargreaves takes a tougher line, forbidding their use at school. Mike tells Mr. Robson that he won't compete for the athletic trials, making an excuse that he's sick of it. At the hunger lunch, Mrs. Monroe notices the suspicious activity at the bike sheds, as the first year's Chilli-Con-Carne goes on sale. Barry Timpson tries to muscle in on things, but before he can be served, Mrs. Monroe intervenes. Suspecting foul play, she insists that those involved, and the Timpson brothers, have the first servings. As the day ends, Mike's dad drives up to Mike and Georgina in a fury. He's been told about Mike's quitting of the athletic trials, and blames Georgina. Mike refuses to get in the car with his father, and walks off with Georgina...

Episode 13
It's a Saturday morning and Jacko puts an advert in the local shop to announce his lost dog. With his friends they head to Grange Hill, to search for the animal. It's also the day of the athletics, and Mike has decided to take part after all. Just what was delivered to Rod the caretaker on Saturday morning? A pile of boxes is stacked up in the caretaker's office, with Trevor's help. Georgina has to cancel the double date, so Aichaa has to go with Robbie on her own. At school, Rod is not the only one in, Mrs. McClusky and Mr. Humphries are having a meeting to discuss cuts. Creeping around the corridor, Brian, Jacko and Locko overhear them discussing staff dismissals. They also overhear Rod speaking to his bookmaker about a dog, and misunderstand his intent, thinking that he might be hiding Jacko's dog. While they are searching the caretaker's room, Rod locks them in. In their attempt to escape they break some of the boxes, and find eggs inside. They escape out the window, with some difficulty, and damage to the boxes. At the racetrack, as Mike prepares to run, he asks his dad if he can stop the press photographers. Mike wins the race, but to his annoyance, photos are taken, and he's in a very thoughtful and uncommunicative mood for the rest of his afternoon with Georgina. Rod discovers the mess inside his office, and thinks it must have been Trevor's fault. Finally, Mike explains what happened in the pub brawl - that he accidentally kicked the man who had already been knocked to the floor, and now that man is in a coma. Robbie walks Aichaa home and goes inside to meet with her father. To her, and her little brother's surprise, Mr. Rashim invites Robbie to have a meal with them. Life with the Pearsons seems to have reached a new low, with the food in the shared kitchen taken by another tenant - Matthew's mother breaks down in tears. She goes to get some fish and chips, and Matthew sends his sister off after her so that he has the flat to himself. Shortly afterwards, he tears off down the stairs, and halfway down, sets off the fire alarm. When his mother and sister come back, they find a chaotic situation of fire engines and police cars outside the flats, with smoke pouring out of their window, and no sign of Matthew...

Episode 14
The firemen put out the blaze, and carry out Matthew to his anxious mother. The police are immediately suspicious about the matches found near him. That night, Robbie has a vivid nightmare about the thugs involved with the pub brawl. Aichaa's mother gives her an interrogation about her friendship with Robbie. News of Matthew's arson gets back to school, and Mr. Mackenzie goes to visit the Pearsons. It becomes apparent Matthew set fire to the hotel in order that the council would re-house his family. Mike gets an early copy of the local paper - courtesy of the eager Mr. Hargreaves - with his photo prominent. Mike buys one of the specially made t-shirts with a caricature of the Deputy Head on it in retaliation. Mr. Robson sees and it is confiscated. A rumour starts spreading that Miss Booth has been sacked. A fight breaks out in the canteen and Mr. Robson intervenes, but he is berated by Mr Hargreaves who tells him that he had it under control. As the PE teacher leaves, the Deputy Head notices the cruel caricature on the t-shirt, and insists the t-shirt printing service comes to an end. The caretaker gets grief because of the destroyed eggs, and passes the buck onto Trevor, who he suspects was involved. In turn, Trevor keeps an ear out, and learns about Jacko and his friends being present on the Saturday. Tegs has a chat with Matthew, and is impressed by him being in trouble with the law. Chrissy breaks the bad news to her team that the t-shirt business has to end. They also discuss hearing about Miss Booth being sacked - but she's behind a bookcase listening in horror. She asks Mrs. McClusky about it - and is placated by the Head who tells her she is a most valued member of staff. Mr. Mackenzie takes Matthew home, and meets the family who are preparing to move to another dingy hotel. Rod, thanks to Trevor's detective work, finds out that Brian, Jacko and Locko were the ones who damaged the boxes of eggs. The caretaker threatens going to the kids' parents unless they pay, but Brian counterattacks, convinced that the white van that brought the dodgy eggs was also the one responsible for kidnapping Jacko's dog, and saying that he'll call the police. Feeling pleased at getting one over on Rod, the kids leave school - and then there's a happy surprise as Jacko finds his dog waiting at the school gates. It's not so good for Robbie though, when he's out with Aichaa: he bumps into soccer hooligan, Derek, and finds himself promising to meet up with the gang at the weekend...

Episode 15
Andy and Justine both give different accounts of their previous night's liaison, and Justine finds she has an undeserved reputation. Ronnie and her animal group is picketing outside a laboratory which is using animals for testing, but she has to leave to go to school, promising to come back later. Determined to become one of the good guys, Mauler goes around telling people that they must use his proper name from now on - Francis! He overhears the Timpson brothers planning to give doctored hot chocolate to Jacko's gang, and intervenes in front of Mrs. Monroe, hoping to gain "brownie points". It works and he gets his shiny badge. Justine is called a slag by one of Andy's mates, and knees him in the groin. Unfortunately, Miss Booth sees her action, carts her off and has a chat with her. Miss Booth puts the idea in Justine's head that Andy must have been boasting about having slept with her. Finally, as the third formers queue for injections, Justine confronts Andy and his mates, tells everyone what really happened, and ends their relationship. Mauler steps in to bring order to the queue, but the sight of the needle makes him reel over in a dead faint. At the school entrance, Justine finds Tegs and Matthew waiting. He sympathetically grabs her arm. Robbie, with Georgina and Mike, is at Aichaa's house to make a convincing lie that they are all off to see Othello. Once out the door, Georgina and Mike head off, leaving Robbie to take Aichaa off to the football match. While Ronnie pickets some laboratories where animals are being harmed, she notices one of the employees is none other than Calley's boyfriend. At the football stadium, Aichaa wants to go on the terraces, but fearing for her safety, Robbie insists on going to the seats. At the bowling alley there are two shocks in store. One is for Calley when Ronnie confronts her about her boyfriend working at the laboratory. The other is for Mike when someone recognizes him from the pub brawl. After the match, a fight erupts, and Robbie desperately tries to escape. Aichaa goes to the ladies, and while he waits, Derek and his football "mates" appear, questioning why he didn't go with them. When Aichaa appears, Derek is incredulous that she is "a paki". As they are about to set on Robbie, another gang appears, and they run off. Backing into the loos, Robbie pushes Aichaa back into the cubicle while Robbie makes short work of the two yobs who have barged in. Afterwards, they head off, Aichaa slightly hurt, and face the wrath of Aichaa's father. Robbie is turfed out of the Rashims' house, and finds himself in tears...

Episode 16
Just another morning: Ronnie wakes up in a sleeping bag outside the laboratory she is helping to picket, Calley wakes up in her boyfriend's bed, Akik is making fun of sister Aichaa as they walk to school, and Mr. Mackenzie almost runs over the zombie-like Miss Booth. He finds out that she's given her mother marching orders after she told her she was "mutton dressed up as lamb." Griffiths, with Rod, scratches his head over how they get through so many supplies of plates and cleaning fluid. Aichaa avoids Robbie, until he finally catches her in the library. Still showing the signs of the weekend's struggle, she tells him it is hopeless, her father would never understand. Mauler - or rather "Francis"- watches Rod's suspicious activity with much interest. Unable to give Walt the compensation for the broken eggs, Rod gives him some school supplies - floor polish and washing-up liquid. Mr. Hankin finds it difficult to teach the First Form about science when they won't shut up. To the surprise of the class, Mr. Hankin's Aunt Camelia turns up - an ostentatious and impressive looking opera singer - who shows the power of acoustics by breaking a wine glass with her voice. Afterwards, in the Staff Room, she compliments Miss Booth on the style of her dress. In the evening, Robbie goes round to Aichaa's, for another attempt to win round her father, but he won't listen to anything he says. Under pressure from Ronnie, Calley has decided to help in the struggle against Animal Cruelty, and take advantage of her boyfriend working for the very laboratory that she is picketing. At night, when she is round her boyfriend's house, she grabs the electronic entry card for his lab and leaves. She, Ronnie and Georgina head off to his laboratory under the cover of darkness. They break through the fence, and use the electronic key to gain entry into the animal house. Her hand on one of the cages, Calley argues with Ronnie, who's being rather superior about animal rights. When a monkey scratches her hand, she withdraws it in a hurry. Ronnie uses her camera to take some photos of the cages. Outside, a new security guard arrives, with a trained dog, and the two head towards to the entry area. Sitting down to drink some tea, one of the guards notices activity on the closed-circuit TV - the guards head off to investigate, and at the same time, the girls notice the camera operating, and make a run for it. In the darkness, they are confused and can't find the broken fence, and they are cornered by the guards, the dog barking ferociously...

Episode 17
The security guards lock Calley, Ronnie and Georgina into the animal house, and they await their fate with trepidation. The directorof the institute turns up, but her immediate concern is for how they gained entrance. Calley is nursing her monkey scratch, worrying that it may have been infected. They notice a phone, and make a call to John, Calley's boyfriend, who works at the lab, but at the same time the director has worked out whose entry card was responsible. The director notices the phone call being made, and listens in - cutting in at a pertinent point to insist on John come in. When he arrives, Ronnie threatens to go to the press, but the director astutely points out that there's a more interesting story to be had - that of a schoolgirl affair. John drives the girls home, defending the work of the laboratory. As Georgina leaves the car, Calley mentions to John that her scratch is still bleeding, and they go to the hospital to have it checked. Still tailing Georgina, Julie Corrigan overhears about the monkey scratch, and starts telling people about there being a monkey on the loose; it starts a new crazy of monkey impersonation, led by Neil Timpson, who chalks 'N' on the back of kids' blazers - meaning they have nits. Eventually, Julie herself becomes victim to this, but Trevor, on playground duty, sees this and reports to Mr. Hargreaves. Georgina has been sent her first modelling assignments by her agency, but the first turns out to be cancelled. As she walks to the next one, she is drenched by a passing car, which ruins her chances for the second appointment. Mrs. Monroe speaks to the First Formers about the Black Death, rats and nits, but it's a thinly disguised attack on Neil Timpson, who is eloquently belittled. Tegs, who seems to be coming round to the idea of staying permanently at his real mum's house, has been told to bring a friend round for tea. He tries to persuade Matthew, but his old friend has too much on his mind, with the impending court case for arson, and instead he takes Justine. At the PTA, Mr. Robson is surprised to find out that Mike Bentley is going to train in America, but he's not the only one in the dark, as Robbie finds out when he mentions it to Mike himself. Mike bursts in on the meeting, and tells them all that he won't go...

Episode 18
It's the day of Matthew's court appearance to face charges of arson. Tegs is there to give moral support, but people from his past keep turning up before he can speak to Matthew. Robbie tells Mike that the man who was in a coma as a result of the pub brawl has pulled through. Mr. Hankin unwittingly provides a large amount of invisible ink to Jacko's gang. Akik complains that Neil Timpson keeps getting him to do his homework. Becky bunks off with Alice to see where her mum works - she is a beautician at a local health club. They are surprised to see Mr. Hargreaves and Mike Bentley's dad turn up at reception. They are even more shocked when Miss Booth heads their way, and retreat to a sauna. While they stay hidden, they listen to Miss Booth talk to her friend about her desire to run the marathon. Meanwhile, Mrs. McClusky goes shopping with Ronnie, to get her opinion on cruelty-free products, and to try to persuade Ronnie to be a little less rigid in her views. She also tells Ronnie that there's an animal welfare company who might be interested in giving her a job. At court, Matthew hears the magistrate's summing up - he is treated leniently, but must remain under supervision of a social worker for a year. Robbie finally gets Aichaa alone, but can't persuade her that he's not on the side of the racists. He decides he will give evidence about the pub brawl, and so prove where his loyalties lie, and he and Mike enter the local police station.

Episode 19
Calley is still having blood tests for her monkey scratch. Neil Timpson's homework has become mysteriously blank. He can't work out what trick Akik (who did the work) has pulled - not knowing about the supply of "invisible ink". Time's up for Rod - no-one wants to play cards with him any more, and Walt has turned up for recompense - he takes a school video recorder as down payment. Tegs is puzzled when someone calling himself his dad turns up at school, but it is the genuine article. His dad is a bit put out by Tegs's uninterested manner, but gives him a new address. Outside, Walt is leaving with the video recorder, but passes Mauler who is immediately suspicious. He and Mr. Robson apprehend Walt, but Rod is watching nervously, worried about the repercussions heading his way. He's given the boot, but not before revealing a few home truths about Mauler, Trevor and Ted who lose their Vigilante Committee badges. Mike's big race is on the same day as his court case - he seems to be rapidly losing interest, is always at odds with his dad, but Mr. Robson has a trick up his sleeve. Tegs has a birthday party with Justine and Matthew. They deliberately leave the room so he can tell his mother that he saw his father. She tells him she'd prefer it if he didn't see him. Courtesy of Mr. Robson, Mike gets to talk with Linford Christie who gives him encouragement for his athletics. Robbie has a surprise phone call, advising him not to give evidence in court...

Episode 20
Mike and Robbie arrive at court and wait nervously to be called. Miss Booth is surprised to find that the first form girls already know of her plans to run the marathon. Tegs is trying to make his mind up who he should stay with - his foster parents, his real mum, or his dad.
