Bruce refuses to stay idle, but sent home for overdue rest suddenly faces what seems his late parents, whom he follows into a tunnel under the Wayne estate, only to find it's a cruel hoax mounted by actually surviving Jeremiah to 'bond with him', forcing him to re-live his orphaning with the result of plastic surgery on the couple, while real Alfred, also hypnotized, must be left behind badly wounded. The 'brotherly duel' ends with the loser dumped in the toxic factory, which provided a truckload of killer pyrotechnics which Gordon drives into the river last-minute after Bruce and Seline rescued him and Lee from Jeremiah. Barbara, for the sake of her unborn child, teams up with Cobblepot and Nygma to escape Gotham on a self-built submarine.
