Starting Over... Again

A doctor and his spoiled teen son (Sam and Nick) come to the small town of Middleton to set up residence. There they meet welcoming neighbors Cassie and teen daughter Grace. Cassie isn't only Sam's new neighbor but a business rival whose herbs have eased the town's ailments for years. Grace has a precognitive gift, usually reserved for family members, which begins to include Nick. After assessing his crude office, Sam confronts Middleton's self-absorbed mayor over her false claims and assurances that brought him to town. By not completely forgiving her, holding her accountable, she begins a one-woman crusade to remove him from town. Meanwhile, Brandon (Cassie's Step-Son) chooses a career that unsettles the family, while George (Cassie's father-in-law) shows signs of a serious medical condition. An apology finally puts Sam and Cassie back in good graces. Nick's school prank lands Grace a seat in the Vice-Principal's office. Stephanie plants a bee in a few bonnets (figuratively speaking). Brandon's first day on the job puts him in dutch with the mayor. Sam diagnoses George's ailment. Tara makes a career decision.

Running Scared

Ashley, a troubled young woman, shows up at Grey House looking for a place to stay, making Brandon suspicious. Next door, after Nick's trouble at school, Sam attempts to discipline him without pushing him away. Grace tries to avoid Nick but soon finds herself a pawn in another one of his lies that now involves her best friend Anthony. Using intuition and some of Cassie's advice, Grace exposes Nick's lie to Sam, who must finally take a different tact to improve his family's relationship. Meanwhile, as one of Cassie's coincidences draws Ashley and Derek together, Middleton prepares for the annual Heritage Festival, including a 10K race and grand ball, with bistro owner Stephanie working hard to spark a romantic connection and a date to the dance with Sam.

Do the Right Thing

Ryan's ex-fiancee Annie and ex-best friend Mark return to town, married. On the surface, they seem to want to apologize and bury the hatchet but their actions reveal other intents. For Ryan's sake, while promoting true forgiveness, Cassie continues the ruse of being his girlfriend. As a gas leak moves the town ball to Gray House, John remains nervous about revealing his relationship to Ashley, Anthony (earlier catching Nick and Grace together) successfully dupes Nick into thinking Grace spilled his secret to him, and Sam (confused by Cassie and Ryan's resent actions) allows Stephanie to presume his romantic interest in her.

Episode 4

All in the Family

Like an ill wind, Cousin Abigail blows into town, a true break-up artist spreading division wherever she goes. She immediately sets to work on dividing Cassie and Grace over the issue of Grace seeing an R-rated movie, then sets her hooks into Sam just for the sake of pushing Stephanie away. In the meantime, Ryan, still considering Cassie as more than a friend, gets jazzed with the mayor over changing zoning laws so a handsome house can be demolished and rebuilt as six townhouses.

The Truth About Lies

With relish, Abigail admits to manipulating others along negative lines - all towards their greater good, she affirms - but where others need a simple push, tough nut Cassie needs a hard shove: she and Ryan aren't right for each other, just as Stephanie and Sam aren't right either. Nick returns Grace home safely but gets punished for sneaking out, Grace regrets lying to Cassie, Lori investigates Abigail, and Ryan confronts a developing nightmare when Mayor Tinsdale takes his one-house development idea and lays plans to tear up the town.

Episode 6

The Storm

Though severe storms usually pass Middleton by, this time it's gonna hit and hit hard. Cassie, Grace and Abigail all feel its approach, but only Mayor Tinsdale takes Cassie's word for it and prepares (in a self-aggrandizing way, of course). While Grace fears for step-brother Brandon, Cassie fears for Eve and Brian, a nice couple awaiting their first child. Abigail, on her part, senses someone in trouble.

Together We Stand

The storm leaves Nick, Grace and Anthony stuck at the library, Stephanie incapacitated but aided, Brian in desperate need of an ambulance, Brandon concussed, and Mayor Tinsdale reluctant to call for help. Meanwhile in another city, Mr. Jones suggestively targets Cassie's business and throws Ryan a curve in calling for his "right-hand man," Frankie.

Episode 8

Homecoming

Sam's Ex-wife turns up to use Nick to get to Sam. She conspires to get Nick to Hong Kong behind Sam's back, causing mayhem and destruction of feelings. Cassie struggles with the after events of Bryan being in the hospital and her daughter Grace continues to be manipulated by Abigail.

Episode 10

True Colors

Mr. Jones harbors a nasty surprise for Middleton, one which aims to close down Cassie's and Stephanie's businesses. As Ryan works to stop his actions, Sam's ex comes to town, looking to entice Nick away with a trip to China. Meanwhile, Tara withholds a secret from Brandon - a golden opportunity that may split them up or move them far away from town.
