He also visits the whitewashed renaissance towns of Cisternino, where he enjoys the tasty local butcher shop specialty called La Bombetta (tender grilled meat rolls), and Ostuni, where he helps paint the city wall and prepares a large portion of mouthwatering tiramisu for his two jolly elderly wall-painting mentors.

In 'Trullo' capital, Alberobello, Gino learns about homemade pasta and prepares Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa. In baroque Lecce, he learns about the pizzica, the papier-mâché art and cooks sticky marmalade chicken skewers with bean salad.

The last leg of Gino's journey starts at the Cave of Poetry, a beautiful cave pool near the town of Roca, after which Gino proceeds to the town of Santa Maria de la Leuca to visit its impressive medieval basilica located at the most southern tip of coastal Italy. He then prepares delicious saffron risotto with grilled chicken and local red cabbage for its priest and nuns, turns on the town's artificial Monumental Waterfall built in 1930's on Mussolini's orders, takes a boat to the exact spot at sea where the Adriatic meets the Ionian sea, and prepares one final mouthwatering dish on the windy beach, cooked swordfish fillets with Gremolata sauce and sautéed potatoes.
